Seniority and Benefit Accumulation. An employee shall retain and continue to accumulate seniority while on all approved leaves of absence, unless otherwise specifically provided; and insurance, vacation, and sick leave shall not accrue, continue, or be paid during any leave of absence in excess of thirty (30) calendar days unless otherwise specifically provided for in this Agreement. There shall be no duplication or pyramiding of leave benefits or types of absence.

Seniority and Benefit Accumulation. All non-probationary employees covered by this Agreement shall continue to accumulate seniority (reference Section 9.0 above) and continuous service for the purpose of benefit accrual rates, on leaves of absences of thirty (30) calendar days or less. Upon return from a layoff lasting longer than thirty (30) calendar days, an employee’s seniority dates will be adjusted forward to take into account the length of the employee’s layoff, provided, however, the employee will be given credit on his seniority dates for the first (1st) thirty (30) days of his layoff. Benefits such as insurance, vacation and sick leave shall not accrue, continue or be paid during any leave of absence in excess of thirty (30) calendar days unless otherwise specifically provided for in this Agreement or required by the Family and Medical Leave Act.
