Sick Leave Definition. Sick leave is for the sole and only purpose of protecting Regular Full-Time and Regular Part-Time Employees against loss of income when they are legitimately ill, or have suffered a disabling injury not covered by Workers’ Compensation.

Sick and personal days are calculated in Skyward to correspond to an employees work day hours for their primary assignment. Extra duties are not included for time-off and no sick/personal time compensation is paid for “out of work day” extra assignments. Employees that change from part time to full-time or from full time to part time will have their sick and personal time recalculated in proportion to their change in hours. An employee has two (2) years to dispute time off. All records previous to that are considered final.

An employee shall be entitled to use Sick Leave Benefits if he or she is unable to report for, or to perform his or her duties because of personal illness, doctor or dental appointments including those for dependents when necessary, injury, or confinement for medical treatment.
