Temporary Assignment Pay. Employees temporarily transferred or assigned to a lower rated job or classification shall be paid at their normal wage rate. Employees temporarily transferred or assigned, who work a minimum of 2 hours a day at a higher rated position or job classification shall be paid at the appropriate base rate of the higher rated position.

Temporary Assignment Pay. In any case when an employee is qualified for and is temporarily required to regularly serve in and accept the responsibility for work in a position of a higher class, he/she shall receive the rate for the higher classification or Two Hundred and No/100 ($200.00) Dollars per annum above his/her present rate of pay, whichever is higher, while so assigned, subject to the approval of the department head involved and the approval of the sheriff; provided that for an employee to qualify for the higher rate of pay in such temporary assignment to a higher position, said employee shall be assigned on a regular and continuous basis in the higher paid position for at least one (1) full pay period. An employee may be temporarily assigned to the work of any position in the same or lower class grade without change in pay, other than a demotion as a result of a layoff.
