Availability of Sick Leave. Sick leave shall be granted by the department or agency only in the following instances:
1. At the discretion of the supervisor, an employee may be granted sick leave for a medical or dental appointment or illness or injury of the employee. The employee may be required to support said absence with a physician's certificate. Employees will not be required to provide a physician's certificate for illness of less than three (3) days unless improper use is suspected.
2. At the discretion of the supervisor, an employee may be granted sick leave for a medical or dental appointment or illness or injury within the employee's immediate family that requires the attendance of the employee or where the employee's presence on the job could jeopardize the health of fellow employees. Under these conditions the employee may with the consent of the employee's supervisor use sick leave with pay the same as if the employee were personally under a medical disability; however, such leave may not be granted unless the supervisor is satisfied that the absence of the employee is required to attend the dependent with the medical appointment, illness or disability. The supervisor may require a doctor's certification showing that the employee is required to be in attendance.
3. Upon the death of a spouse or other member of the immediate family of an employee, the employee may use not more than five (5) working days of accrued sick leave with pay for purposes of funeral leave. Under extenuating circumstances, a supervisor may, at his/her discretion, approve the use of additional days of accrued sick leave for this purpose. Immediate family for purposes of funeral leave means the employee's spouse, children, stepchildren, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, grandparent or grandchild.
4. In each case of absence due to illness or injury it shall be the responsibility of the employee to notify the employee's supervisor of the absence immediately and to report periodically the anticipated duration of the absence. Failure to notify the supervisor may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
5. At the discretion of the supervisor, an employee may be granted sick leave when requested by local medical officials to respond to an emergency for the purpose of donating blood.
Availability of Sick Leave a. In each year, no fewer than 15 days of sick leave shall be available to each employee at the beginning of the school year. Employees commencing employment with the Board during the year shall then have available to them the pro rata portion of sick leave benefits which would accrue to them for the balance of the school year.
b. Any sick days used but not accumulated by an employee who ceases to be an employee of the Board prior to the end of the school year shall be repaid to the Board by the employee.
Availability of Sick Leave. 1. All regular employees accrue sick leave at the rate of one and one-fourth (1¼) days per month for each year of employment. An employee completing a full school year will earn a total of fifteen (15) days of sick leave. Notwithstanding the formula appearing in Ohio Revised Code Section 3319.141, a part-time employee will continue to accrue proportionate amounts of sick leave for the time actually worked. Unused sick leave shall be cumulative to a maximum of 230 days. When used, sick leave is charged against the employee on the basis of the hours taken.
2. Each new regular employee shall be advanced five (5) days’ sick leave effective the first day of the school year if needed. These five (5) days shall be part of the total number of accumulated days to which the employee shall be entitled for the first year of employment. G. To compensate an employee for the difference between payments received under the Worker's Disability Act and the employee's regular wages.
H. Employees that are eligible for full benefits may compensate for the difference between payments received under the Short-term Disability policy and the employee's regular wages up to a maximum of 24 hours per pay period (represents 30% effort)
