GENERAL EDUCATION CLASS SIZE. A. The District will attempt to maintain class sizes during the course of a school year within the guidelines and following the process outlined below. To the maximum extent feasible distribution of students will be balanced in regard to all factors (gender, ability, etc.) 1. The term "class size" means the ratio between the total number of students assigned to a class and the number of teachers in that class. Music, PE, or other specialists who may provide supplementary instruction will not be counted in the class size ratio.

GENERAL EDUCATION CLASS SIZE. Both the School Board and the Association recognize the effective utilization of staff members has a direct bearing upon the achievement of the students, e.g., since large class loads for teachers hinder effective learning, the Board agrees to give serious thought toward lowering class loads or teacher-student ratios. a. Elementary building administrators will gather input from classroom teachers prior to assigning students to classrooms for the next school year in order to assign students to classes in a fair and equitable manner. Special needs students will be placed collaboratively by the building principal and the appropriate special needs staff. b. The District will provide extra pay if the following class sizes are exceeded: i. Grades K-3: 23 FTE students ii. Grade 4: 26 FTE students iii. Grade 5: 29 FTE students For each one (1) FTE student which exceeds the above numbers, the District will provide $1,000 per student per semester. Class size shall be measured on the October and March student count dates. c. The District will provide extra pay if the following class sizes are exceeded: i. Grades 6 and 7: an average of 31 FTE students per class. ii. Grade 8: an average of 32 FTE students per class iii. Grades 9 through 12: an average of 33 FTE students per class For each one (1) FTE student which exceeds the above numbers, the District will provide $10 per student per day, pro-rated per period. Class size shall be measured no earlier than October 1 and on the 25th calendar day of the second semester (or first working day thereafter) at the secondary level. The District will have ten (10) working days to lower the class size before this option will become available. Compensation or reimbursement will be retroactive to the beginning of the semester. d. The numbers in b & c above are conditioned on the District receiving full funding at current prototypical school funding levels. If the class size funding levels change, this section may be reopened. e. Excluded from these are traditional large-scale classes, such as health and fitness, driver training, and music, etc. The District will attempt to keep such secondary-level classes at no more than 40 FTE students ("Performance" classes may exceed this limit), but exceeding such limits will not incur extra pay except Health and Fitness classes over 40 FTE students will be provided the relief identified in paragraph c above. f. If lab classes exceed lab stations then a meeting will be held between the teacher(s), lead teacher, and administration to determine changes needed in curriculum due to the overload in class size. To provide guidance to the administration in managing this policy, the following class size thresholds will be used to identify classes where intervention is necessary. A joint committee consisting of the site administrator (s) and representatives of the Association shall meet during the second week of school of each semester to review the class size, full-time equivalent FTE allocations, teacher workload, work or lab stations to students, and the number of preparations. The joint committee shall also review the number of special education and special population students within the general education classroom. Problems concerning these issues shall be referred to the Superintendent or designee and the Association where they will meet in order to find solutions. 11.3.2 The District will provide the Association with copies of October, February, and May calculations relative to annualized pupil-to-classroom teacher ratio and supporting documentation not later than when such reports are distributed to the Board of Education. 11.3.3 Upon request by the Association, the District shall provide the Association with the total number of FTEs allocated by the District for each school site at the conclusion of the second week of each semester.

  • Class Size a) When CONTRACTOR is a nonpublic school, CONTRACTOR shall ensure that class size shall not exceed a ratio of one teacher per fourteen (14) pupils. Each classroom with 2 or more students shall be assigned at least one paraprofessional. Upon written approval by an authorized XXX representative, class size may be temporarily increased by a ratio of 1 teacher to sixteen (16) pupils when necessary to provide services to pupils with disabilities. For any billing period where the class size has exceeded sixteen (16) students for five consecutive school days, the CONTRACTOR shall have a 10% decrease in its approved daily rate for those LEA students that exceeded sixteen (16), for those days (over five). b) In the event a nonpublic school is unable to fill a vacant teaching position responsible for direct instruction to students, and the vacancy has direct impact on the California Department of Education Certification of that school, the nonpublic school shall develop a plan to assure appropriate coverage of student by first utilizing existing certificated staff. The nonpublic school and the LEA may agree to one 30 school day period per contract year where class size may be increased to assure coverage by an appropriately credentialed teacher. Such an agreement shall be in writing and signed by both parties. This provision does not apply to a nonpublic agency. c) CONTRACTOR providing special education instruction for individuals with exceptional needs between the ages of three and five years, inclusive, shall also comply with the appropriate instructional adult to child ratios pursuant to California Education Code sections 56440 et seq.

  • General Education Requirements Students who intend to transfer to SUNY Buffalo State College with an A.A. or A.S. degree, will be considered as having fulfilled general education/Intellectual Foundations as long as they complete the 30 credits and 7 of 10 areas of SUNY-GER requirements prior to the start of their studies at SUNY Buffalo State College. Students should have successfully completed the SUNY-GER Basic Communication requirement with a grade of “C” or better, the mathematics requirement, and 5 of the remaining 8 categories. The student is responsible for fulfilling the SUNY Buffalo State College Diversity requirement.

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund effective January 1st, 2013 and each year thereafter, two thousand ($2,000.00) for the purpose of providing Paid Education Leave. Said Paid Education Leave will be for the purpose of upgrading the Dependent Contractor’s skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Such monies will be paid into a trust fund established by the National Union, Unifor and sent by the Company to the following address: Unifor Education Leave Program c/o Unifor 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, XX X0X 0X0 The Company further agrees that members of the bargaining unit selected by the Union to attend such courses will be granted a Leave of Absence without pay for twenty (20) days class time, plus travel time where necessary, with said Leave of Absence to be intermittent over a twelve (12) month period from the first day of leave. Dependent Contractors on such leave will continue to accrue seniority and benefits during such leave.

  • Establishment of Portfolios and Classes (a) The Trust shall consist of one or more separate and distinct Portfolios, each with an unlimited number of Shares unless otherwise specified. The Trustees hereby establish and designate the Portfolios listed on Schedule A attached hereto and made a part hereof ("Schedule A"). Each additional Portfolio shall be established by the adoption of one or more resolutions by the Trustees. Each such resolution is hereby incorporated herein by this reference and made a part of the Governing Instrument whether or not expressly stated in such resolution, and shall be effective upon the occurrence of both (i) the date stated therein (or, if no such date is stated, upon the date of such adoption) and (ii) the execution of an amendment either to this Agreement or to Schedule A hereto establishing and designating such additional Portfolio or Portfolios. The Shares of each Portfolio shall have the relative rights and preferences provided for herein and such rights and preferences as may be designated by the Trustees in any amendment or modification to the Trust's Governing Instrument. The Trust shall maintain separate and distinct records of each Portfolio and shall hold and account for the assets belonging thereto separately from the other Trust Property and the assets belonging to any other Portfolio. Each Share of a Portfolio shall represent an equal beneficial interest in the net assets belonging to that Portfolio, except to the extent of Class Expenses and other expenses separately allocated to Classes thereof (if any Classes have been established) as permitted herein. (b) The Trustees may establish one or more Classes of Shares of any Portfolio, each with an unlimited number of Shares unless otherwise specified. Each Class so established and designated shall represent a Proportionate Interest (as defined in Section 2.5(d)) in the net assets belonging to that Portfolio and shall have identical voting, dividend, liquidation, and other rights and be subject to the same terms and conditions, except that (1) Class Expenses allocated to a Class for which such expenses were incurred shall be borne solely by that Class, (2) other expenses, costs, charges, and reserves allocated to a Class in accordance with Section 2.5(e) may be borne solely by that Class, provided that the allocation of such other expenses, costs, charges, and reserves is not specifically required to be set forth in a plan adopted by the Trust pursuant to Rule 18f-3 under the Act, (3) dividends declared and payable to a Class pursuant to Section 7.1 shall reflect the items separately allocated thereto pursuant to the preceding clauses, (4) each Class may have separate rights to convert to another Class, exchange rights, and similar rights, each as determined by the Trustees, and (5) subject to Section 2.6(c), each Class may have exclusive voting rights with respect to matters affecting only that Class. The Trustees hereby establish for each Portfolio listed on Schedule A the Classes listed thereon. Each additional Class for any or all Portfolios shall be established by the adoption of one or more resolutions by the Trustees. Each such resolution is hereby incorporated herein by this reference and made a part of the Governing Instrument whether or not expressly stated in such resolution, and shall be effective upon the occurrence of both (i) the date stated therein (or, if no such date is stated, upon the date of such adoption) and (ii) the execution of an amendment to this Agreement establishing and designating such additional Class or Classes.

  • Union Education If the local union indicates to the Hospital that its members have approved a special assessment for union education in accordance with the CUPE constitution and local union by laws, the Hospital agrees to deduct this assessment. Such assessment will be paid on a quarterly basis into a trust fund established and administered by OCHU/CUPE for this purpose.
