Leave Scheduling. (a) The scheduling and taking of scheduled annual leave shall be on a calendar year basis.
Leave Scheduling. (A) Port Engineers may not schedule vacation during the overhaul period of their assigned vessels without permission of the Employer. (B) Vacation will be scheduled bi-annually by the Senior Port Engineer in conjunction with the Port Engineers and approved by the Employer. Vacation will not be scheduled beyond what the Employee has accrued in his personal leave balance.
Leave Scheduling. Requests for annual vacation leave, compensatory time leave, and holiday leave received by the Chief by February 1st of each year will be granted on the basis of seniority consistent with the current policies, not to exceed 120 hrs, except that vacation requests of forty (40) hours or more shall have priority over requests of a more senior officer of eight (8) hours or less. All other vacation leave shall be taken at such time or times at the discretion of and as approved by the Chief. Vacation and compensatory time leaves shall be taken in multiples of one-half (1/2) hour. Holiday leave shall be taken in multiples of eight (8) hours. More than one member on the same shift may be on leave at a time, as approved by the Chief.
Leave SchedulingBased on seniority, employees shall be given preference in the selection of leave periods. An employee who splits their leave may exercise seniority rights for the initial leave period; however, subsequent selection shall be made in accordance with the leave policy of the employee’s department. Where individual departments leave scheduling policies are in conflict with provisions of this Labor Agreement, the Agreement shall prevail.
Leave Scheduling. Personal Leave shall be taken as scheduled following notification by the Leave Scheduling Committee and the System Director, Alaska Marine Highway System, or designee working in unison to arrive at the individual's Personal Leave dates. This program will provide Vacation Relief Engineers who shall have a schedule and relieve for vacations throughout the year, and shall not be removed from their vacation relieving schedule unless they are ill. Management reserves the right of final approval for all personal leave requests. Engineer Officers desiring to take personal leave not scheduled by the Leave Scheduling Committee including but not limited to those reasons specified in 23.06, must contact the Marine Engineering Manager, or designee, to have such leave approved.

It is recognized that Vacation Relief Engineers may be reassigned from the first day to the seventh day following the actual date of the end of the approved vacation. Management reserves the right of final approval for all personal leave requests. Engineer Officers desiring to take personal leave not scheduled by the Leave Scheduling Committee including but not limited to those reasons specified in 23.06, must contact a Union dispatch office and one of the two employer representatives on the Leave Scheduling Committee to have such leave approved.
Leave SchedulingDepartment Heads shall establish staffing schedules to provide for requested leave for employees annually, and employees are to take leave at the time scheduled. A record of time taken shall be kept on file in the department. Such schedules may be amended to meet work emergencies. In establishing regular schedules, Department Heads shall give due consideration to the desires of individual employees while weighing the work requirements of the department. Whenever possible, longevity shall prevail where there is a conflict between two or more employees wanting the same time off for vacation purposes.
Leave Scheduling. (a) The scheduling and taking of scheduled annual leave shall be on a calendar year basis. (b) Preference in Scheduled Annual Leave - Scheduled annual leave preferences shall be granted on the basis of service seniority in the work units. An Employee shall be entitled to receive his/her vacation in an unbroken period. If an Employee decides to break his/her entitlement into more than one continuous group of workdays, he/she shall be entitled to use his/her seniority for only one (1) such group of days in a calendar year. Where scheduling of scheduled annual leave results in a residual of annual leave, this will normally be scheduled and taken in a single block. (c) Scheduled Annual Leave (1) A training plan will be provided to each department by January 15th of each year to assist in the development of Scheduled Annual Leave schedules. The Scheduled Annual Leave schedules shall be forwarded to the Employer for approval and be posted in the Department by March 1st. Such approval will not be unreasonably withheld. (2) An Employee who does not exercise his/her seniority rights within two (2) weeks of receiving the proposed scheduled annual leave schedule, shall not be entitled to exercise those rights in respect of any such time previously selected by an Employee with less seniority. (3) Scheduled Annual Leave schedules, once approved by the Employer, shall not be changed, other than in cases of emergency, except by mutual agreement between the Employee and the Employer. (4) Where an Employee is absent due to illness, or approved Short Term Leave in the Lower Mainland area, the Employer will make every reasonable effort to contact the Employee so that his/her vacation scheduling rights may be exercised.
Leave Scheduling. It will be the responsibility of the employee, in consultation with the supervisor, to discuss workload and project and/or schedule annual leave. Employees shall submit requests for leave as far in advance as possible. Employees will normally be informed of the approval or disapproval of their requests for leave promptly and prior to the start of the requested leave, to allow employees ample time for planning and scheduling. Employees whose leave requests have been disapproved shall be informed of the reason(s) for disapproval. In instances where employees have received advanced approval for leave, the Agency shall consider alternative means to accommodate the employee's request prior to rescinding the approval.
Leave Scheduling. 2.1. Employees and their Supervisors are jointly responsible for planning and scheduling Employees’ annual leave throughout the leave year. 2.2. When scheduling conflicts occur, an effort should be made to resolve the conflict between the Employees involved. Unresolved conflicts will be settled by approving the request that was submitted in writing first. 2.3. Approved leave will not be cancelled because a request from a more senior Employee is received. 2.4. Established leave schedules will not be altered to accommodate a newly assigned Employee. 2.5. Employees may request leave periods be exchanged or swapped between Employees who perform the same duties. Supervisors may approve requests to exchange or swap leave requests among qualified Employees if the exchange or swap will not negatively impact staffing requirements.
