Professional Advancement Leave. 1. After the completion of six (6) consecutive calendar years of full-time employment with the College, an employee covered by this Agreement is eligible for a professional advancement leave with full pay for sixteen (16) consecutive weeks or with one-half pay for thirty-two (32) consecutive weeks for study and research, which will enhance the contribution of the employee to the College. The employee must submit a request in writing to his or her immediate supervisor at least ninety (90) days prior to the proposed starting date of such leave, outlining the purposes of the leave and how he or she intends to utilize it. The supervisor will forward his or her recommendation to the President of the College for consideration. The granting of professional advancement leaves shall be at the discretion of the College. If the leave is granted, the employee must submit a report upon completion of the leave indicating how the leave was used. 2. An employee granted such a leave agrees to remain in the employment of the College at least one year subsequent to its completion or to return the salary paid during the leave. 3. The employee granted such leave will be covered by the medical and pension benefits provided by the College; however, such professional advancement leave with pay shall not be available if the applicant receives remuneration from any other source for services performed during the period of such leave.

Professional Advancement Leave. Upon the completion of four (4) years of employment before the start of the leave, professional advancement leave may be granted to administrators by this Agreement at the rate of three-fourths (3/4) of the recipient’s regular basic salary plus fringe benefits at the current ratio of Board to Employee contribution. All applicants must be tenured. Applicants will be required to make an application to the Superintendent by January 15th and will be notified of the Board’s decision by March 15th of the school year preceding the leave. The Board’s decision shall be final and not subject to review under the grievance procedure. Administrators returning from a professional advancement leave will be required to return to their full-time responsibilities in Wilton for at least two years following such leave or return the salary and any contribution for fringe benefits paid by the Board during the leave period. Each employee on a leave of absence must give written notice of his/her intention to return to employment to the Wilton Board by February 1st of the year prior to the school year of his/her return. The Board, at its discretion, may grant more than one (1) paid leave of an individual certified professional employee and may grant leaves of greater or lesser duration than one (1) year. For such paid leaves as described above, the employee shall make his request to the Board of Education through the Superintendent.
Professional Advancement Leave. To promote the continuing professional growth and competence of senior scientific, engineering or administrative staff members, the Director may grant partially subsidized leave with prior written approval by the Contracting Officer, as described below, to a limited number of Employees, not to exceed five (5) at any given time. Such leave, to be known as Professional Advancement Leave, may be spent at appropriate institutions within the United States or abroad when such would be advantageous to DOE and JSA. A. Employees may not be granted leave more than once in a five year period, nor may such leave exceed twelve (12) months. Any extensions or exceptions require Contracting Officer approval. B. For Employees with JSA salaries which are reimbursed by DOE, the basis for salary reimbursement will be: 1. The DOE reimbursed salary payments made to an Employee on Professional Advancement Leave shall not exceed two-thirds of the Employee’s DOE- reimbursed Basic Salary. 2. The total of DOE-reimbursed salary payments plus any Stipend, grant, or other income which the Employee may receive or derive from others in connection with the leave will be taken into account to ensure that total payments do not exceed the Employee’s base salary plus an amount equal to nationally recognized regional cost of living differential, as reported in the Council for Community and Economic Research Cost of Living Index. 3. It is the intent of the parties to fully utilize funds other than DOE-reimbursed salary payments, when available, to the maximum extent possible. Accordingly, should the total income of the Employee during Professional Advancement Leave exceed the amount stipulated in 8.2.B.2 above, the DOE- reimbursed amount in paragraph (1) above will be reduced accordingly. C. Cost of travel for Professional Advancement Leave is not reimbursed by DOE. D. Vacation leave and sick leave shall not accrue to the individual while on Professional Advancement Leave. E. Group benefit insurance coverage shall continue for the leave period if the Employee pays the total cost by arranging to make all premium payments normally paid by JSA and the Employee. F. In the event that the Employee does not return to the Contract or another DOE- funded activity from a Professional Advancement Leave, the reasons for the Employee not returning will be reviewed by JSA and the Contracting Officer for a determination of whether DOE shall be reimbursed for any salary paid.

Professional Advancement Leave. When the Board of Education grants Leave of Absence with pay to a teacher under Section of the School Act, and the purpose of the leave professional advancement for the teacher, whether known as sabbatical leave, educational leave, professional leave, assisted leave or otherwise the terms and conditions of this section shall apply. When leave is granted by the Board of Education to a teacher for the purpose of conducting research, acquiring information through visiting other school systems, attending educational conferences contributing to the professional growth of the teacher, or other purposes related to the welfare of the school systems, the teacher shall suffer no loss of pay during the period of absence. The teacher may, at the discretion of the Board of Education, be reimbursed for this actual expense in carrying out the intent of the leave. Return services will not be involved. When a leave granted by the Board of Education to a teacher for the purpose of engaging in further studies at a recognized College or University and if has been at the request of the Board of Education to meet a particular need of the system, the teacher shall be paid regular annual salary and an expense allowance. If a leave is granted under the condition in above, the teacher shall give return service according to this formula: of salary x of leave = months of return Should the teacher fail to successfully complete the program approved as a condition of the leave, the teacher shall undertake to refund the full amount of payments made to him under this Section together with interest at the prime bank lending rate prevailing at the time the leave was granted. The refunding shall commence no more than one year following the date of the teacher's return to the employ of the Board of Education. Should the teacher successfully complete the educational requirements of the approved program during his first year of return service, such action will be deemed to have satisfied the conditions of the leave, and no repayment of funds will be required. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event of partial completion of the approved program, the Board of Education may, in its discretion, waive in full or in part the repayment of funds under this Section. Should the teacher fail to comply with his undertaking regarding return service, he shall refund the full amount of the payment made to him under this Article together with interest at the prime bank lending rate prevailing at the time t...
Professional Advancement Leave. When the Board of Education grants leave of absence with grant to a teacher and the purpose of the leave is for professional advancement or improving qualifications designed primarily to satisfy a particular need for such qualifications in the school system, whether known as sabbatical leave, educational leave or professional advancement leave, the term and conditions of this section shall apply. 6.1 A teacher with two or more years of continuous service with Ile-a-la Crosse School Division No. 112 Board of Education shall be eligible to apply for leave with grant. When leave with grant is granted for a period of not less than one university academic year then Section 6.2 shall apply. 6.2 The total amount of money for each such leave with grant shall be determined on the basis of 25% of that teacher’s salary for the period of leave for that teacher who has been approved for leave with grant. 6.3 Two full time or four part-time leaves with grant with Ile-a-la Crosse School 6.4 Following leave with grant, the teacher shall return to the same or a similar teaching position with the Board of Education and shall be required to provide teaching service for a period of two years as stipulated in the contract with the Board of Education that was signed prior to the leave being granted. 6.5 At least eight months of the leave year shall be spent in professional study or a program of activities approved by the Ile-a-la Crosse School Division No. 112 Board of Education to be considered a full time program or four months to be 6.6 All applications for such leave(s) shall be made to the Director of Education with as much notice as possible but not less than two (2) months prior to the date the leave is to begin. Applicants shall be informed of the decision of the Board of Education within two weeks of receipt of the application. 6.7 Recipients of leave with grant who do not fulfill their employment obligations with the Ile-a-la Crosse School Division No. 112 Board of Education as outlined in Section 6.4 shall repay the proportional amount owed with interest at current bank lending rates and such payments shall be deducted from the teacher’s last pay. 6.8 Should a teacher die while being on educational leave with grant or during the period of commitment, there shall be no liability to the teacher or his/her heirs or estate for repayment of the grant.

  • Professional Improvement Leave A teacher may be granted leave to be used for the teacher's professional improvement. Professional improvement days may be approved by the superintendent and used for the purpose of: 1. Visitation to view other instructional techniques or programs. 2. Conferences, workshops, or seminars conducted by colleges, universities, or vocational schools. The teacher planning to use a professional improvement day shall notify the principal at least one week in advance of the proposed absence. The teacher shall be required to file a written report with the principal within one (1) week of attendance at such event. Also, the teacher may/shall be requested to return with materials and/or information to be shared with other teachers. The expense of attending such visitation, conference, workshop, or seminar will be paid by the Board when the proper reimbursement applications are sent to the district office. In cases where attendance at a convention, workshop, seminar, or other educational activity is deemed to be of value only to the individual teacher, leave may be granted for attendance with either no expenses or limited expenses being underwritten by the district. In these cases, no written or verbal reports will be required.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Professional Advice The acceptance of the Options and the sale of Common Stock issued pursuant to the exercise of Options may have consequences under federal and state tax and securities laws which may vary depending upon the individual circumstances of the Optionee. Accordingly, the Optionee acknowledges that he or she has been advised to consult his or her personal legal and tax advisor in connection with this Agreement and his or her dealings with respect to Options. Without limiting other matters to be considered with the assistance of the Optionee’s professional advisors, the Optionee should consider: (a) whether upon the exercise of Options, the Optionee will file an election with the Internal Revenue Service pursuant to Section 83(b) of the Code and the implications of alternative minimum tax pursuant to the Code; (b) the merits and risks of an investment in the underlying shares of Common Stock; and (c) any resale restrictions that might apply under applicable securities laws.

  • Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.
