Sick Call. Contractor shall provide a mechanism for the evaluation and treatment of patients by a qualified health care provider in a clinical setting, either on- or off-site. a) Contractor shall ensure all offenders are given the opportunity to submit oral or written health care requests at least daily. b) Health care staff shall pick up health care requests daily. c) A qualified health care professional shall review and prioritize health care requests daily. d) A qualified health care professional shall conduct a face-to-face encounter for a healthcare request
Sick Call. LCJDC shall develop a written sick call process that clearly outlines how Youth should access medical and dental services. All Youth requesting sick call shall see a health professional within 24 hours. Responses to sick call request shall be documented in the Youth’s file.
Sick Call. 39. The City/County shall implement a sick call policy and procedure that includes, at a minimum, the following: (1) written sick call request slips; (2) a collections method where the request slips are carried by jail staff directly to a qualified health professional i.e., registered nurse, physician, or licensed practical nurse (LPN); (3) logging procedures to record each request for sick call services; (4) review of inmate requests by a registered nurse or physician on a daily basis to determine urgency of the need to be examined; (5) a sick call clinic held at least once per week conducted by a licensed physician, or registered nurse (RN) under the supervision of a licensed physician; and (6) a policy requiring medical staff to record the results of sick call in an inmate's record. At least three times a week, documented rounds will be conducted in segregation. Inmates submitting sick call requests shall be seen by qualified medical professionals in a timely manner. 40. The City/County shall permit illiterate inmates orally to request medical care through medical staff. Such requests will be processed in a timely fashion and properly documented by the medical staff who receive the request. I. Staff medical training. 41. Staff shall be adequately trained to identify inmates with special mental health needs, identify medical emergencies, give first aid, and give CPR. Only qualified medical staff (i.e., not security staff) shall handle pill call and the administering of medications.

The MONITOR shall evaluate and propose any necessary changes in the SICK CALL process at ESP, and DEFENDANTS/STATE OF NEVADA shall ensure that the ESP QUALIFIED HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS implement those changes. DEFENDANTS/STATE OF NEVADA shall ensure that Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs) and mid- level practitioners, such as Advanced Practitioners of Nursing (APNs), perform only functions within the scope of their state professional licenses and according to proper protocols, and that each QUALIFIED HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL is properly supervised according to the scope of his/her license. DEFENDANTS/STATE OF NEVADA shall ensure that NDOC HEALTH STAFF shall collect all medical request forms (“kites”) on a daily basis from each housing unit. Upon receipt of such medical “kites,” but no later than twenty- four (24) hours after receipt of such medical “kites” (as measured by the date-and-time stamp marked on the “kite” received by the ESP medical department), these medical “kites” will be triaged by a Registered Nurse, or higher level practitioner according to appropriate written triage protocols. DEFENDANTS/STATE OF NEVADA shall ensure that ESP Patients have a confidential means to request medical care, regardless of the type or location of their housing unit, without having to rely solely on custody staff as an intermediary, by instituting daily rounds by a nurse to pick-up medical “kites.” A Patient requesting medical care shall be seen by a Registered Nurse or higher level practitioner within 48 hours after his request has been received by health care staff. Any Patient who is seen by a nurse two consecutive times within a 30-day period for the same symptoms will be referred to a higher level practitioner without incurring an additional co-pay charge for a medical visit. This does not require two sick calls before a Patient can be referred to a higher level practitioner; a registered nurse may make such a referral after a single SICK CALL in accordance with appropriate triage prot...
Sick Call. When an employee in Patrol calls in sick: A. The Communications Officer receiving the report shall contact a replacement according to the current seniority list. B. In the instance there are (3) three officers assigned to a particular shift, a replacement does not need to be found. C. The Communications Officer contacting the replacement shall briefly indicate who was contacted on the daily log. D. The seniority principle shall apply; the senior person that wants the full shift shall get it. If the senior person wants half of the shift and no one wants the remaining half shift and a less senior person wants the whole shift, the less senior person gets the full shift. If the remaining· half shift is unfilled, reverse seniority of the adjoining shift fills it. E. In the event no replacement can be secured, the vacated shift shall be filled/assigned by reverse seniority or split shift with employees working the shift prior to or immediately after the shift to be filled according to seniority. If the more senior employee declines, the least senior employee shall cover 1/2 the shift.

Sick Call a. PHS Medical shall ensure patient access to sick call on a daily basis from Monday through Friday excluding City holidays. Patient health issues will be assessed and treated as clinically indicated under the supervision of a physician. b. Medical staff shall treat patients requiring emergent or urgent care immediately upon notification. c. PHS Medical may implement with the Department’s approval, and such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld, a nurse triage model for sick-call requests, Patients will be referred, as appropriate, to a physician, nurse or to the pharmacy. Such model shall incorporate a mutually agreed upon patient education component. All such services shall be performed pursuant to a protocol that has been annually reviewed and jointly approved by the site medical director and PHS Medical. d. PHS Medical shall provide daily cell side assessment of inmates in segregated housing units.
Sick Call a. Piedmont shall establish nursing protocols, signed by the medical director, for use during sick call, that will allow nurses to properly triage prisoners’ medical needs and ensure that prisoners are referred for, and provided with, appropriate treatment in a timely manner. These protocols should address common symptoms, and should instruct nurses about the questions they should ask of prisoners with those symptoms, and the objectives they should accomplish in evaluating those prisoners. b. Piedmont shall ensure that the physician provides oversight of the sick call process through a monthly review of the nurses performing sick call, in order to ensure that personnel are not practicing beyond their training. The review shall determine whether nurses are providing appropriate care and whether they are following facility policy and procedure.
Sick Call a. Plaintiffs shall daily have the opportunity to request health care. Nursing staff shall make daily rounds to collect sick call requests from plaintiffs who have no access to a sick call box. b. Requests for health care shall be triaged by RNs within 24 hours of receipt, with receipt measured from the time that the requests arrive at the site of triage following daily collection of sick call slips. c. Plaintiffs whose requests include reports of clinical symptoms shall have a face-to-face (in person or via video conference, if clinically appropriate) encounter with a Medical Professional (not including an LPN) or Mental Health Professional within 48 hours (72 hours on weekends) of the receipt of the request by nursing staff at the site of triage, or sooner if clinically indicated. d. Care at sick call and at subsequent follow-up appointments shall be as determined by appropriate Medical Professionals and/or Mental Health Professionals, in the exercise of appropriate clinical judgment, to meet the plaintiffs’ medical and mental health needs.
