Teacher on Special Assignment. The position of "teacher on special assignment" has been created to assist staff in the development and implementation of education programs, as directed by the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall have the final authority to assign unit members to this position. The creation of any bargaining unit position, including that of teacher on special assignment, does not mean that such position need be filled. Any assignment to the position of teacher on special assignment shall generally be for the duration of one school year, unless continued for subsequent year(s). Upon completion of such assignment, the bargaining unit member will be reassigned following the procedures outlined in this Article, and in the same manner as applied to a unit member returning from a leave of absence. Bargaining unit members holding the position of teacher on special assignment shall not be required to evaluate staff.
Teacher on Special Assignment. The designation of teacher on special assignment shall be defined as any teacher who voluntarily accepts temporary assignment to administrative or other duties. Teachers on special assignment shall remain members of the bargaining unit.
Teacher on Special Assignment. 9.4.1 Open positions for a Teacher on Special Assignment shall be posted in the District.
Teacher on Special Assignment. The position of teacher on special assignment has been established for the purpose of addressing specific needs of the district which are of a temporary nature. The position may be expected to exist for a period of from one (1) semester up to two (2) full years. For the purposes of this contract, all provisions are deemed to apply to the position with the following exception: Any member returning from special assignment in the district shall be assigned to the same position held, including the same building and subject area, prior to the special assignment unless the member seeks and obtains a new position elsewhere in the district. The Superintendent/designee will annually notify any member on special assignment and the Association of the status of the assignment, including the member’s rights under this article.
Teacher on Special Assignment a. Leave for the period up to a full school year shall be granted to one (1) teacher for the certified purpose of providing full-time representation for the Association. This leave will be renewed each year for one (1) year periods, providing that certified request is made each year for the succeeding year prior to the expiration of the then current school year. The Association will purchase one hundred percent (100%) of the BA Step 1 salary for the applicable school year.
Teacher on Special Assignment. A Teacher on Special Assignment is any bargaining unit member relieved of their classroom duties on a part time or fulltime basis for an entire school year to work with the administration on district-wide projects or programs. i.e.– Curriculum Coordinator. Listed below is additional information regarding teachers selected for this assignment: • Job postings and the selection process will be done according to articles of the ATA contract. • The bargaining unit member will maintain their seniority as it existed before becominga teacher on special assignment. (As legally required by NYS statute) • The teacher will receive all benefits as outlined in the ATA agreement. • The teacher may be requested by the Superintendent to work up to an additional 20 workdays over the summer between June graduation and August 31st. The teacher will be paid an additional month’s salary using the equation: (Total Salary/10Months = 11 Month Salary) • In recognition of the additional level of responsibility and necessary skills a teacher on special assignment will assume or demonstrate he/she will receive an additional stipend of: Half Day $2,500 Full Day $5,000
Teacher on Special Assignment. Based on teacher’s Negotiated Agreement salary, including the teacher’s daily rate for additional days beyond the teacher contract. Includes, but is not limited to: instructional coaches; administrative internships; and long-term, interim, or emergency assignments outside the classroom. (See Article 13: Transfers and Reassignment)
Teacher on Special Assignment. Teacher on Special Assignment (“TOSA”) positions may be approved by the Employer. The purpose of the TOSA position shall be to utilize the experience, formal education, and special skills of individual teachers to perform unique, seasonal, and/or support tasks to augment the essential services necessary for the successful completion of the Edina Schools’ mission. The potential number of TOSAs will be determined at the sole discretion of the Employer. In order to be eligible for a TOSA position a teacher must be a tenured Edina teacher with a minimum of three years of Edina Public Schools experience. TOSA positions will be posted. In the event a TOSA position extends beyond one year, continuance of a teacher serving in such position is contingent on a satisfactory review of the teacher's performance. The Employer reserves the total discretion to grant or to deny the continuance of a teacher in a TOSA position beyond one year. No teacher nor the Union shall have cause, whatsoever, to seek redress or review of the decision of the Employer to not continue a TOSA teacher beyond one year, nor shall decisions be subject to arbitration. In the event an incumbent TOSA is not renewed for a position that extends beyond one year, the position will be posted. At the conclusion of any TOSA assignment, a teacher will be returned to the same position held prior to the special assignment or if not available, to any other position for which such teacher is licensed. The following language will be effective July 1, 2010, for a teacher newly hired as a Teacher on Special Assignment. Teacher on Special Assignment (“TOSA”): The Employer may designate certain teaching positions as TOSA positions. The intent is that these positions shall involve working with both teachers and students, but that the focus shall be on working with and supporting other teachers in the process of teaching and learning. These positions will require a Minnesota teaching license with the optional requirement of additional training and experience. If a position is posted as a TOSA position, then it shall be subject to the following specific terms, in addition to the terms of this Agreement:
Teacher on Special Assignment. A. Any bargaining unit member who, on the basis of his/her special knowledge and abilities, is selected to serve the District on a districtwide basis in a capacity other than classroom instruction and/or the furnishing of direct student services shall be designated a teacher on special assignment when appointed to such a position by the Board.
Teacher on Special Assignment. It is recognized that Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA) are members of the SEA; they are not intended to be supervisors of their bargaining group. Their work is a valuable resource directed by the Teaching and Learning Department in support of teacher professional development for improved student learning. This work is not limited to, but includes support for new teachers and teachers new to an assignment, support for implementation of new curriculum and alignment of learning standards to curriculum.
