Curriculum Leaders. 4.2.4.1 High School Curriculum Leaders shall be provided with an allowance of $2,940.00 4.2.4.2 High School Curriculum Leader recommendations will be made by department members and must receive the approval of the Principal. 4.2.4.3 High School Curriculum Leader appointments will be for two year terms. 4.2.4.4 Teachers appointed as District Curriculum Leaders shall be provided with an allowance of $2,940.00.

Curriculum Leaders a) Curriculum leaders will work under the supervision of the School’s administration and in close collaboration with the Department Coordinator in accordance with the terms of reference for this position. b) Appointments to the above positions will be for a period of one year except where in exceptional circumstances, depending on the nature of the assigned work and in consultation with the Department Coordinator and School, a longer period of time for the appointment is determined. c) Where a position becomes or is about to become vacant, the School will invite applications for that position from teachers in the relevant department or division and will consider such applications before making an appointment. d) Appointments to the above positions shall be a prerogative of the School’s administration in consultation with the Department Coordinator. e) A Curriculum leader may be removed from this position for cause at any time by the School’s administration. f) Curriculum leaders will receive a stipend of $3,500 per school year, in addition to the normal remuneration paid to teachers. g) In addition, a curriculum leader shall be entitled to a minimum of 3 hours per 8 days/cycle of release time per cycle from other duties. Release time may be extended in consultation with the administration and depending on the size of the work unit or responsibilities assigned.
Curriculum Leaders. In establishing the appropriate Curriculum Leadership structure, the following shall be taken into account: (i) all academic subject areas within a school shall be led, managed and supervised by either a Curriculum Leader or a member of the Senior Leadership Team; (ii) there shall be four (4) tiers of designation; (iii) the following factors will be considered when making determinations as to the appropriate tier designation and additional flexible hours for each POR position: (A) the number of teachers and other employees to be led or coordinated; (B) the number and/or range of subjects involved in any area of academic responsibility; (C) the number of students involved and their particular academic needs; (D) amount of curriculum development required; (E) other associated responsibilities (such as equipment maintenance, resource ordering, industry training and placement); (F) the structure of the school e.g. multiple campuses or 11-12, 7-12 or arrangements spanning primary, primary and secondary, pastoral care structure, school curriculum initiatives; and (G) the overall level of resourcing of the area. (iv) the leader of a subject area or group of subject areas shall receive an allowance in addition to the salary payable under Schedule 1 of this Agreement and a release time according to the prescribed criteria, as set out in clause 6.9.11.
Curriculum Leaders. ‌ Curriculum Leaders for grades 6 -12 (English Language Arts, Social Studies/History, Math, Science, Foreign Language, Fine/Performing Arts, and Physical Education/Heath Science as well as a Nurse Leader) shall be paid a base stipend plus an increment of at least $120 for each teacher (or school nurse) supervised in the department, exclusive of the curriculum leader (see Appendix CExtended Responsibilities Stipend Schedule). For teachers who work in more than one department, the FTE of said teacher shall be the basis to determine the incremental stipend for supervision responsibilities (i.e., .4 FTE x amount per Appendix C). The work year for the 6-12 curriculum leaders will be 4 days more than the teacher work year at their per diem rate. The 6-12 curriculum leaders shall work two (2) days during the two-week period preceding the start of the school year and two (2) days during the two-week period following the end of each school year, as designated by the Principal of the High School and directed by the Superintendent. At the recommendation of the High School Principal, the Superintendent will direct and approve a paid stipend for needed extra work relative to one’s position as the curriculum leader. High school curriculum leaders will be relieved of two teaching class periods and a comparable teaching reduction at the Middle School. The Superintendent reserves the right to increase the teaching load by one teaching period in response to extenuating circumstances.

Curriculum Leaders. During each year of the Agreement, at its sole discretion, the Board may appoint employees to serve as curriculum leaders. The “curriculum leader” supplemental positions will replace thedepartment head” supplemental positions referenced in the 2016-2021 NEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. The addition of curriculum leader supplemental positions will not be subject to the steps outlined in the supplemental evaluation committee’s non-athletic supplemental position formation procedure. All Board appointments to such positions shall be for one (1) year. Accordingly, the Board may authorize the posting of positions annually. The Board also retains the discretion to reappoint an incumbent to a position without posting. If, by the first Monday in July, the Board has not exercised its discretion to post a position or reappoint the incumbent, then the incumbent’s reappointment for an additional year will be automatic. New positions that are created and positions that become vacant due to resignation or removal of the incumbent shall be posted as per Article XXIV, Vacancies and Transfers B and C. Curriculum leaders shall be compensated based on the combined number of NEA members of the department or K-6 subject area as follows: Combined No. of NEA Departmental or K-6 Subject Area Faculty Members: No. of NEA Faculty Members Stipend 5 – 18 $3,400 19 – 24 $3,650 25 – 30 $3,900 31+ $4,150 In addition, when a department/subject area is in a ‘Needs Assessment’ or a ‘Curriculum Development’ year of the District’s curriculum cycle, said curriculum leader will receive an additional $500.
