JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. 24.01 A vacancy is defined as a position that is declared vacant by reason of the establishment of a new position within the bargaining unit, an employee's retirement, resignation, termination, death or after an employee has received benefits under the Group Long Term Disability Plan for a period of five (5) consecutive years.

JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. When a vacancy occurs within the District that the District intends to fill, an employee may bid for the open position. Seniority, as defined in Item A.1 of this Article, shall be the basis for assignment of new positions provided that the person applying for the vacant position is determined by the administration to be qualified to perform the duties. Seniority shall be the deciding factor for assignment, all other things being equal. A written explanation shall be given to the employee possessing seniority in the event that a senior employee is denied placement. The Board shall make available to the Association a list of new job openings in the bargaining unit. The list shall be posted on the appropriate bulletin boards as soon as the administration is aware of the open position or at least five (5) workdays prior to closing the position. The District will make available to all personnel, by posting to the District website and having copies available at the District Office, Form B 501, request for Notice of Classified Job Postings for the summer. Bargaining unit employees shall have first preference for summer work if qualified. Those employees interested in summer work must complete Form B 501. When two (2) hours per day or less become available within the scope and duties of the job description for that classified position, the hours may be awarded in order of seniority, all other factors being equal, to the individual(s) currently performing such duties in the classification at that specific school/worksite. In order to be eligible for the assignment, the additional hours must fit into the employeesregular work schedule at the specific time needed. In the event individuals at the school or worksite do not accept the hours, the hours will be posted for other in district employees in that job classification to apply. Seniority, all other factors being equal, within the classification shall be the deciding factor in determining which in-district employee is awarded the hours. In order to be eligible for the assignment, the additional hours must fit into the employee's regular work schedule at the specific time needed. In the event a position is increased by more than two (2) hours within the scope of and duties of the job description for that classification, the position shall be considered a new position and posted district wide. JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. 12.01 Except in cases where employees are returning as per Article 11.03 (a) permanent new jobs and/or vacancies shall be posted on the plant-wide bulletin board(s) on Thursday and removed at 7:00 AM the following Tuesday (unless a Holiday occurs within the job posting period, in which case the posting will remain an additional day for each Holiday which occurs within the normal posting period) and employees with seniority shall be entitled to bid, by means of submitting a signed application to the Personnel Office and obtaining a receipt for same. The posting shall provide the number of expected vacancies, the Classification(s), wage rate, shift(s), and a general description of the duties to be performed. Employees absent may submit an application directly or such application may be submitted by their Union representative. Employees on layoff will not be eligible to apply for a job posting unless they were laid off out of line of seniority. The Company will notify the Plant Chairperson and the applicants within three (3) working days of the expiration of the job posting, advising them of the results of the posting. The Plant Chairperson will also be provided with a copy of all the receipts for the applications on file. Whenever possible the successful applicant will be transferred within ten (10) working days after being advised of the results of the posting or on the date the job becomes available if such date is later.

A successful applicant who refuses an offer in a department will not be entitled to re-apply for a period of six (6) months. Notwithstanding the foregoing, successful applicants for positions for Meat Manager or Deli/A La Carte Manager will only be given the opportunity to do the job if they have the qualifications. Successful candidates with proper training will have up to two hundred (200) hours worked to demonstrate that they can successfully complete the job functions required in their new posting. If either the employee or the Company determines that the employee cannot successfully complete the job functions, they will be returned to their previous position and the next senior person on the posting list will be given an opportunity to qualify for the position. A temporary employee may be employed during this posting period if needed; however, no position shall be permanently filled until the end of the posting period. JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. 13.01 When a new job is created or a permanent job vacancy occurs that adds to the complement of any classification other than entry level classifications, which the Company desires to fill, it will be posted on the bulletin board for a minimum period of five (5) calendar days. If the qualifications of the employees to do the job without training are relatively equal, then the most senior applicant will be awarded the job.
