JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. When a job vacancy occurs in any classification prior to the job posting process, the Company will canvass by seniority all employees within the classification as to their preference of the available shift(s). The job left vacant will be the job that is posted. When job vacancies occur and the Company requires replacements and when the Company creates new job classifications covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, they shall be posted on the bulletin board for a period of seven (7) calendar days (or the Company canvasses all employees for the position by seniority), during which time applications must be made in writing by the employees interested in these positions. Each subsequent vacancy which originates following the seven (7) calendar days (or the Company canvasses all employees for the position by seniority), will be posted for seven (7) calendar days also (or the Company canvasses all employees for the position by seniority). The posting will specify the classification, primary job function, hours of work, full-time, days of work, and requirements for the classification. The Company will retain on file for a period of sixty (60) days a copy of all job postings. Should merit and ability be relatively equal, seniority will be the governing factor in awarding the job posting. Employees who are chosen to fill a position will have up to thirty (30) calendar days to train and demonstrate that they can successfully perform the job functions required in their new position. If either the employee or the Company determines that the employee cannot successfully perform the job functions, they will be returned to their previous position and the next person on the posting list will be given an opportunity to qualify for the position. JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. When a vacancy occurs within the District that the District intends to fill, an employee may bid for the open position. Seniority, as defined in Item A.1 of this Article, shall be the basis for assignment of new positions provided that the person applying for the vacant position is determined by the administration to be qualified to perform the duties. Seniority shall be the deciding factor for assignment, all other things being equal. A written explanation shall be given to the employee possessing seniority in the event that a senior employee is denied placement. The Board shall make available to the Association a list of new job openings in the bargaining unit. Bargaining unit employees shall have first preference for summer work if qualified. Those employees interested in summer work must complete Form B 501. When two (2) hours per day or less become available within the scope and duties of the job description for that classified position, the hours may be awarded in order of seniority, all other factors being equal, to the individual(s) currently performing such duties in the classification at that specific school/worksite. In order to be eligible for the assignment, the additional hours must fit into the employees’ regular work schedule at the specific time needed. In the event individuals at the school or worksite do not accept the hours, the hours will be posted for other in district employees in that job classification to apply. JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. 24.01 A vacancy is defined as a position that is declared vacant by reason of the establishment of a new position within the bargaining unit, an employee's retirement, resignation, termination, death or after an employee has received benefits under the Group Long Term Disability Plan for a period of five (5) consecutive years.
24.02 When a vacancy occurs in any position within any department whether permanent or temporary within any department covered by certified bargaining unit employees, written notice of such vacancy shall be given within seven (7) working days to all certified bargaining unit employees including temporary employees. Such written notice will be posted on First Class. The school secretary will print and post the notice on the staff bulletin board. During the summer months, notice will be sent directly to each employee by the Board. Any such employee may file with the Director of Education or designate his/her desire to apply for such vacancy.
24.03 Appointments shall be made of the senior applicant with the required qualifications to meet the requirements of the vacant position.
24.04 The Union shall be notified of all full-time, part-time permanent or temporary appointments, promotions, demotions, hiring, transfers, layoffs, recalls, resignations, retirements, deaths, or any other terminations of employment affecting the bargaining unit.
24.05 All transfers of educational assistants will occur on September 1st of each year. Vacancies that occur once the school year has commenced will be posted as per the collective agreement. The successful candidate will assume that position the following September. A permanent employee will be hired to fill in during the transition period.

JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. Any job vacancy shall be posted for a period of not less than five (5) working days (Five (5) calendar days during the summer) before being permanently filled. A temporary employee may be employed during this posting period if needed; however, no position shall be permanently filled until the end of the posting period. Employees may apply for the posted position subject to the posted terms and conditions. If an employee is not selected, upon written request, the employee shall be given the reasons for the decision in writing.

24.02 When a vacancy occurs in any position whether permanent or temporary, covered by certified bargaining unit employees, written notice of such vacancy shall be issued to all bargaining unit members via the Board’s internal communication system. Vacancies will be posted for a period of five (5) working days. Any such employee may file with the Director of Education or designate their desire to apply for such vacancy. All subsequent postings shall be posted for three (3) working days.
24.03 Appointments shall be made of the senior applicant with the required qualifications to meet the requirements of the vacant position.
24.04 Vacancies that occur will be posted as per Article 24.
JOB POSTINGS/VACANCIES. The following procedures shall apply throughout the Police Department for the posting and filling of job vacancies for positions at the rank of sergeant.
A. Whenever a vacancy occurs in a permanent assignment, other than Administrative Aide, Department Advocate, Professional Standards Bureau supervisor and District squad supervisor, the Director of Police must give notice of the vacancy and have the job posting emailed to all personnel with ten (10) days advance notice. It must also be read at each roll call for four (4) consecutive days.
B. Applicants must meet the requirements listed when applying for an assignment and must show by a special report how they meet the requirements, or their application will not be considered. An individual assigned to reconstructionist, polygraph, or computer forensics, will not be eligible to be promoted to the rank of sergeant for two (2) years after being placed in the assignment. An individual assigned to the canine handler assignment will not be eligible for such a promotion for five (5) years after being placed in the assignment. This Section shall also apply to any specialized assignments upon mutual agreement of the parties. Nothing herein shall be interpreted to preclude an individual from taking a promotional exam and being placed on the eligible list, however, the employee shall only be promoted pursuant to Civil Service Rule 8, Section 9.
C. Any employee successfully applying for and obtaining any position under the procedures set forth in this article shall not be permitted to apply for any other vacancy for a period of six (6) months from the date of selection of the employee to fill the vacancy.
