FILLING OF JOB VACANCIES. 29.1 Except as provided in 29.1.1 and 29.1.2 below job openings shall be posted on all departmental bulletin boards for a minimum of seven (7) working days. The posted notice shall describe the job and pertinent job specifications. At the time of posting, the Union Presidents will be sent a copy of the job posting and selection criteria for posted openings in their Unit. The selection criteria shall be used to determine if candidates, in-house or outside, are qualified for the position. The selection criteria applied shall be in accordance with the current job description, job specification, and posting. If there are qualified applicants and unless there are unusual or emergency circumstances, the vacancy shall be filled within twenty (20) working days from the date of application closing, which date shall appear on the posted notice. This time limit may be extended by the City, when in its sole discretion it is necessary to do so, but to a date not to exceed forty (40) calendar days from the application closing date.
29.1.1 The City is not required to post job openings prior to offering that opening to a bargaining unit employee in order to fulfill its requirement to make reasonable accommodation in accordance with federal or state law.
29.1.2 After a vacancy is posted, if an additional vacancy in the same classification becomes available prior to the close of the selection process on the initial vacancy that vacancy will be posted in-house for an additional five (5) working days to determine if any additional applicants are interested in the position.
29.2 Employees in any City Department may apply for unit vacancies which are posted. The City will evaluate applicants who have submitted an application by the posted submission deadline as follows:
29.2.1 In-house applicants who are in the same job classification as the posted position, but who work in another Division or Department, are considered to be suitable transfers and will receive first consideration providing the City determines that they are qualified in accordance with the job qualifications listed in the job description. In order to be considered a suitable transfer, the applicant must satisfy all requirements of work and necessary special requirements outlined in the job qualifications listed in the job description.
29.2.2 If there are no in-house applicants who meet the definition of suitable transfer, the City will evaluate all other applicants in accordance with the selection criteria. Bet...
FILLING OF JOB VACANCIES.
1. Whenever the County seeks to fill a vacancy within the bargaining unit, the County shall, at least ten (10) working days prior to closing of the application period, post notice with the job description, qualifications, and requirements of the position on the department bulletin boards.
2. The County may publicly announce the vacancy simultaneously with the notice required by Paragraph 1.
3. There shall be equality of opportunity for all qualified employees to vie for promotions in County employment. The County shall encourage promotion of its employees on the basis of ability and efficiency. Therefore, qualified employees meeting the established criteria shall be given the first consideration for promotion by being interviewed for the position before the County fills such vacancy. Any County employee who applies for a posted/advertised vacancy, meets the minimum qualifications for the position, and is denied, will be provided an opportunity to meet with a County management representative to review his/her qualifications for a position such as the one advertised and be given suggestions regarding how s/he can become better qualified for such a position.
4. In the event the County reclassifies an existing position and more than one filled position exists in the original, titled class in the department, a competitive, promotional examination shall be held to select the employee to be promoted.
5. An employee involuntarily transferred shall serve no additional probationary period. An employee requesting and receiving transfer to another department may be required to serve a new probationary period. Whether an employee serves/is serving a probationary period will be reflected on the “personnel action” form affecting such action.
FILLING OF JOB VACANCIES. All vacancies on any shift shall be filled by choice of deputies, the choice being made on the basis of seniority. Each deputy must remain on the shift of his choice until there is a vacancy on another shift. The duties of personnel on each shift shall be left to the discretion of the Sheriff without regard to seniority.
FILLING OF JOB VACANCIES. (a) It shall be the intent of the Employer to fill job vacancies from within the bargaining unit providing employees who apply for positions have the required qualifications.
(b) All bids on posted job vacancies shall be in writing or on a form provided by the Employer.
FILLING OF JOB VACANCIES. 10.01 Job vacancies shall be filled in the following manner:
(a) The initial vacancy shall be advertised to all employees in the bargaining unit for a period of three (3) full working days, during which time applications from employees will be received by the Human Resources Department. The Company will also consider those employees on layoff, except those who have taken preferential layoff under Article 9.08 (g), as applicants for any job vacancies.

FILLING OF JOB VACANCIES. 11.01 All employees with seniority rights will be considered for any drafting vacancies in their department before new employees are hired or former employees are returned to the Department.
11.02 Job vacancies shall be filled in the following manner:

FILLING OF JOB VACANCIES. 16.01 In the filling of job vacancies, newly created jobs, or transfers within the bargaining unit, the following factors shall govern:
a) Ability to perform the posted job
b) Seniority Where factor (a) is relatively equal amongst applicants, then factor (b) shall govern. Probationary employees will only be considered for posted vacancies when no applicant with seniority is qualified for the position.
16.02 When a temporary vacancy arises due to an employee being on an approved leave of absence for any reason, another employee may be temporarily assigned from that work centre if possible by the Employer to fill that position. Such vacancy shall be filled without posting and assignment shall not exceed twenty (20) working days.
