Lunch and Break Periods. At the request of the Union or the City, City departments will meet and confer regarding the scheduling of break and lunch periods for unit members. Existing departmental practices with respect to break and lunch periods shall continue unless modified after the conclusion of the meet and confer process.
Lunch and Break Periods. Each employee whose workday consists of 7 hours or more is entitled to a 1-hour lunch break without pay, approximately mid-way through a workday. Variations to an employee’s standard lunch break may be addressed under Article 20.08 as part of an arrangement for flexible working hours. Each employee whose workday consists of 7 hours or more is also entitled to a paid 15-minute break at an appropriate time during the 1st and 2nd half of the workday. Breaks are to be taken at a convenient point in the flow of duties and employees are to ensure that breaks do not exceed the allotted time period. Paid break time cannot be accumulated and taken as time off.

Lunch and Break Periods. IT employees covered by this section will receive one one-hour lunch period composed of one thirty (30) minute period that is paid by the employer and one thirty (30) minute period which is not paid by the employer. These employees will receive no additional rest periods during their regular working hours.
Lunch and Break Periods. A. Each employee shall receive a fifteen (15) minute break during each four (4) hour period of consecutive service. Such break shall be as close to the halfway point of the work period as is practicable as determined by the immediate Supervisor. Seven and one-half (7½) hour employees shall receive both a morning and afternoon break, as provided above.
B. Each employee who is scheduled to work more than five (5) consecutive hours, shall receive an uninterrupted and non-paid lunch period of at least one-half (½) hour. Such time shall be as near as practicable to the halfway point of the employee’s shift.
C. Site Supervisors will confer with the employee to determine the best schedule for each employee with regard to contractual breaks and lunches.
D. Employees will consult with the site Supervisor in the event they are unable to take scheduled contractual breaks and/or lunches.
E. If the employee is required by the Supervisor or designee to interrupt lunch, the employee will resume the lunch period as soon as possible after the interruption and finish the remainder of time.
F. Employees required by the Supervisor or designee, or due to circumstances beyond their control, or due to lack of coverage, to be on duty during their lunch periods shall be given the equivalent time off within one workday or be compensated at their hourly rate.
G. An employee who is required to work a minimum of two (2) hours beyond an eight (8) hour shift shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute break at the end of the 8th hour or at the end of the 10th hour.
Lunch and Break Periods. 32.1 The normal shift schedule for employees shall include an unpaid lunch period of one- half (1/2) hour to one (1) hour, depending upon the needs of the department involved.
32.2 Employees shall receive two (2) fifteen-minute paid break periods each day; one break period before the lunch period and one (1) break period after the lunch period. Specific break periods may be scheduled by an employee's supervisor to ensure that work needs are met and several employees may take breaks at the same time as long as it does not disrupt service to the public. Break periods will not be scheduled within one (1) hour of starting time, lunch breaks, or quitting time. Employees not at their primary job site are expected to use their best judgment in meeting work requirements and taking breaks consistent with the intent of this provision.
32.3 Employees working overtime are entitled to breaks, or rest periods in the following instances;
A. Employees who have worked more than three (3) hours of overtime immediately prior to the beginning of the regular scheduled shift are entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid break period prior to beginning the regular shift.
B. Employees who are working overtime at the end of the shift that is anticipated to last more than the three (3) hours are entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid break period prior to beginning the overtime work.
C. Employees working overtime on a scheduled day off are entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid break for every four (4) hour work period, or major fraction thereof. Such breaks are to be taken near the middle of such work period and may not be 'tagged on' to the period of overtime for purposes of compensation.
D. Employees working a full shift of overtime will be entitled to the breaks and lunch period that they would have on a normal work day.

Employees will be granted a minimum half hour (1/2 hour) unpaid meal break after five (5) hours of work, unless the entire shift is only six (6) hours, in which case the employer and employee may agree to forgo the meal break. If dictated by the operational needs of a department, and upon agreement by the City and the Union, employees may take an “on duty” lunch period which shall be counted as time worked. All employees in the bargaining unit will be granted a paid rest period limited to fifteen (15) minutes during each full four (4) hours of work. Departments may make reasonable rules concerning rest period scheduling.

Upon request by the Union for rotating days off in SFMTA, management will meet and confer with the Union over the definition and scheduling of rotating days off. In the event an agreement is reached, elections shall then be conducted within SFMTA to determine the manner in which days off are to be scheduled (fixed or rotating).
Lunch and Break Periods. A. The normal shift schedule for employees (with the exception of employees assigned to work groups on a 24-hour continuous operation) shall include an unpaid lunch period of one-half hour to one (1) hour, depending upon the needs of the department involved.
B. An employee who has actually worked four (4) hours of overtime, and is required to continue to work in overtime status thereafter, shall receive an allowance of $7.00. Exempt from this meal allowance are scheduled overtime days worked on the employee's regular days off.
C. Employees shall receive two (2), 15 minute paid break periods each day: one (1) break period before the lunch period and one (1) break period after the lunch period.
