Online Learning. 16.8.2.1 The duties and responsibilities of CAS Members teaching Online Learning courses are those set out in 16.1.2, and shall be subject to 16.8.2.2.
16.8.2.2 The Parties agree to the following specific provisions for Online Learning:
(a) CAS Members shall present courses that are consistent with approved department course design;
(b) after appointment to teach an Online Learning course, CAS Members shall provide course information, such as textbook requirements, requisite additional supplies, and methods of student assessment, as requested by the Office of Teaching Support Services, in order to meet publication and other administrative deadlines;
(c) during the first week of the teaching term, CAS Members shall provide their contact information and online contact hours to the Office of Teaching Support Services;
(d) CAS Members shall inform students of any periods of time in excess of one week during the term when they will be unavailable, and shall make appropriate arrangements with the Chair, Area Head or Course Coordinator to accommodate student needs in such absences;
(e) Assignments shall be submitted, graded and returned to students by Members in electronic format through the Learning Management System unless otherwise approved by the Department Chair or equivalent. Responsibility for receipt and return of non- electronic student assignments shall rest with the Office of Teaching Support Services.
(f) if the Member requests, responsibility for the receipt and return of student assignments and midterm tests shall rest with the Office of Teaching Support Services;
(g) CAS Members shall grade assignments and examinations in a timely fashion, and counsel students about their performance. Assignments and examinations that are worth 15% or more of the final course grade shall be graded prior to the due date of the next assignment or examination of equal or greater weight;
(h) Online Learning courses shall be evaluated in accordance with Article 19.3.
16.8.2.3 In accordance with University Policy on the Use of Information Technology, and subject to 16.8.2.4, the Office of Teaching Support Services shall only access electronic sites for courses with the permission of the instructor. The instructor may request technical assistance from the Office of Teaching Support Services, but is not obliged to give open access to communications between the CAS Members and the students in the course.

Online Learning. In the event that the district offers online (distance learning) as defined in Minnesota Statute 124D, each course offering will be delivered by appropriately trained and licensed teachers, also as defined in Minnesota Statute 124D. These teachers will be included in all provisions of the contract that apply to K- 12 teachers.
Online Learning. (a) Members may submit requests to prepare, re-prepare, and deliver online courses to their Department Chairs. Department Chairs may also invite Members to submit such requests. The Chair will consider the request, and consult with the VPAD who may or may not approve the request.
(b) Members who design a new online course shall, per University of Waterloo Centre for Extended Learning protocol, enter into an authorship agreement with the University of Waterloo and St. Jerome’s University.
(c) Members who develop a new online course shall receive one (1) course release in the term in which the Member is developing the course. Members shall receive one (1) additional course release upon completion of the development of the course. Members may apply that course release in a future term in consultation with the Department Chair.
(d) A Member may update online courses in accordance with the University of Waterloo Centre for Extended Learning guidelines. Members who update an online course shall receive one (1) course reduction in the term in which the update occurs.
(e) No Member shall be compelled to prepare, re-prepare, or deliver an online course.
Online Learning. 13.5.1. Effective July 1, 2018, unit members who teach online coursework shall not have more than one hundred eighty (180) students on their roster.
Online Learning. For the purpose of this contract, instruction through online learning shall be de- fined as Online Instruction and Hybrid Instruction. to promote faculty involvement in non-traditional delivery systems that improve student access to higher education, the College will, to the extent feasible, invest in available training and development activities in the support of online Learning. online Learning course maximums shall be in accordance with the agreed upon Master Course table. the College will provide any necessary technical training for faculty teaching on- line Learning courses at no expense to the faculty member. the faculty member shall own any online course materials they develop, but the College shall have the continuing right to use materials developed with College resources. Also see Article IX Intellectual Property. the development and teaching of online Learning courses are assigned and ap- proved in writing by the xxxx/supervising administrator.
Online Learning. A. For the purposes of this contract, online learning courses (OLCs) shall refer to any course whose content is transmitted to students at remote sites through modes that rely on asynchronous or synchronous interaction between students and faculty members.
B. The College agrees that all decisions regarding OLCs will be based primarily on what enhances student learning and access. The College recognizes that learner- centered education provides for interactivity between student and teacher and among the students themselves.
C. No full-time faculty member will be displaced because of online learning, as long as workload in credit courses is available in traditional modes. If such workload is not available in the faculty’s assigned discipline, such faculty may invoke the retraining or displacement provisions as set forth in Article XXII.
1. Courses traditionally taught by full-time faculty members, or courses they are capable of teaching which lie within the curricular purviews of BCCC course offerings, will not be awarded to other institutions for transmission into the campus by electronic means.
2. Courses outside the capabilities of full-time faculty members, such as prepackaged courses or courses available through membership in educational consortia, must be approved by the parent department and the appropriate Committees before they can be included in the Catalog or incorporated into a Program of Study. This provision does not apply to experimental courses.
D. OLCs shall not differ from comparable campus-based courses with regard to departmentally approved expectations and requirements.
1. OLCs shall follow the same syllabus as comparable campus-based courses.
2. In OLCs that employ online interactive technologies, full-time faculty members shall be able to conduct a proportionate part of their office hours via appropriate interactive electronic means or equivalent one-on-one alternative, during specific posted time periods when faculty will commit to availability. However, all full-time faculty will meet the full complement of office hours face-to-face during returning student advising and registration periods.
3. Prepackaged online and/or video-based courses may not be used to replace direct faculty involvement in the design and transmission of the subject matter of the course.

Online Learning. The parties recognize that online education is a vital component of the College curriculum and necessary for continued leadership in higher education. Therefore, the parties encourage endeavors in creating, developing, and delivering online education courses. Online sections shall be capped at 25 students unless otherwise stipulated by College approved Course Development Master (CDM), except by mutual agreement of the CAO and the faculty member.
Online Learning. In the event that student enrollment in online courses increases to the point of impacting a teacher, librarian or counselor’s schedule and/or job responsibilities, the Rockwood School District and the RNEA agree to meet with administrative designees along with RNEA appointed teachers guaranteeing equal number of administrative and teacher representatives to determine the best practices within the district. This task force (K-5 and 6-12) will collaboratively develop appropriate solutions and consider best practices.
