Part-Time Positions. A. Prior to submitting a request, a member requesting a part-time position shall present a proposal to the superintendent and building principal, for approval by March 15; the proposal shall specify the following:
1. The number of classes requested.
2. Which staff meetings the member and principal have determined will require the member’s attendance.
B. Members shall submit their request for a part-time position to the superintendent, building principal, and Association, which shall determine whether to grant same. Approval shall be on an annual basis.
C. Members may not file for unemployment benefits while working in a part-time assignment.
D. The salary shall be pro-rated to reflect the fraction of the position shared. The member’s placement on the salary schedule will be the same as he/she would be entitled to if employed on a full-time basis.
E. Paid leave days will be pro-rated to reflect the fraction of the position worked.
F. Members will attend parent-teacher conferences. Attendance at building level meetings will be discussed by the teacher and the principal and will be at the discretion of the principal. The member should address this matter in his/her proposal to the Superintendent.
G. The members shall be available for a pro-rated amount of time that may be required for meetings or conferences with students, parents, administrators, etc.
H. For any portion of benefits not paid for by the district under this Article, members may purchase them at the district’s cost, through payroll deduction.
I. If a part-time position is not less than a half-time position the member will earn one full year of seniority. If the part-time position is less than one-half time the member will earn pro-rated seniority.
J. The building administrator will determine which classes will comprise any part-time position.
K. The member’s written requests to return to a full-time position must be received not later than March 15.
Part-Time Positions. Employees are subject to the FTE allotment of the position into which they bump.
Part-Time Positions. 1. A part time position shall be described as a position which exists for either less than a full day, or exists for less than a full week (i.e. three (3) full days per week only – 3/5th).
2. There are occasions when a part time position is changed to a full time one. Such changes usually occur between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next school year.
3. Any part time position which is changed to full time shall be posted and filled in accordance with Article X of this Contract. However, the holder of the part time position, if displaced, must be assigned to a position in accordance with the Contract if one is available (i.e. by either voluntary or involuntary transfer).
Part-Time Positions. A position may be stipulated as part-time. This means that the incumbent will work less than full days and/or less than full years, with working arrangements stipulated. Statutory holidays and other days off recognized by the University shall be pro-rated. If a position is not stipulated as part-time, it is assumed to be a full-time position, in which the incumbent will work full days on a year round basis.
Part-Time Positions. A A part-time unit member shall be compensated at the hourly rate commensurate with the unit member’s level of experience and training .
B A part-time unit member shall be eligible on a propor- tional basis for all the benefits enjoyed by a full-time unit member . C Part-time unit members shall be given consideration for full-time employment in any classification that they are qualified for as vacancies develop during the term of this contract . Part-time unit members who apply for full-time em- ployment will be considered along with other ap- plicants for full-time employment for position vacancies expected to occur at the beginning of a school year . Such part-time unit members will also be considered for open contract for full-time employment at the same time other applicants are considered for open contract . D Individual unit members seeking a change in their employment status, i .e ., part-time to full-time, may not do so until all full-time involuntarily transferred and returning from leave unit members in their teaching fields have been reassigned . In any case, the needs of the school system prevail and part-time unit members must be willing to accept full-time positions if no part- time positions are available, take up to one (1) semester of Unusual or Imperative leave without pay, or terminate their service with MCPS . E Bona fide educational needs must be considered before full-time unit members are permitted to become part- time unit members . If no full-time positions are available, full-time teachers returning from leave may accept a part-time position, take up to one semester of Unusual or Imperative leave without pay, or terminate their service with MCPS .
Part-Time Positions. Employees who were previously assigned to full-time teaching positions shall be recalled to full-time teaching positions, provided that such employees shall have the option of accepting or rejecting any part-time teaching position that may exist without losing the right to be recalled to any full-time position which may become available in accordance with Section 6.8.12.1 above (employee may reject positions without being dropped from the pool). Employees who were previously assigned to part-time teaching positions shall have the right to be recalled to any position up to their previous FTE. No part-time employee has a right to be recalled to any position with FTE greater than the position held at the time of layoff, but such employee maybe offered a position with greater FTE if the District determines that it will not adversely impact the position, program, or other employee on the seniority list.
Part-Time Positions. When the board decides to fill a vacant or newly created part-time position, it shall proceed as follows:
a) it shall post the position according to clause 7-1.03 c);
b) failing this, the board shall choose from among the regular employees who were laid off for less than twenty-four (24) months and who held a part-time position prior to the layoff;
c) failing this, the board shall choose, from among employees covered by Chapter 10-0.00, employees who have indicated an interest in obtaining a part-time position;
d) failing this, the board shall choose from among the persons registered on the priority of employment list;
e) failing this, the board may hire a person of its choice.
Part-Time Positions a) At no time shall the combined number of part-time positions exceed eleven percent (11%) of the total in-scope positions. Quarterly, the Employer will provide the Union with a list of part-time, temporary and term positions, including department and classification.
b) This calculation will be based on active in-scope positions, which excludes temporary, term and positions held supernumerary and/or in abeyance. Total permanent positions include those classified as full-time, part-time, and job share.
c) Driver Examiners covered under Appendix C – Memorandum of Agreement Regarding Term Employees, will be included in the part-time calculation in recognition of the continuation of term status.
Part-Time Positions. Educators who were previously assigned to full-time teaching positions shall be recalled to full-time teaching positions, provided that such educators shall have the option of accepting or rejecting any part- time teaching position that may exist without losing the right to be recalled to any full-time position which may become available in accordance with paragraph A above (educator may reject positions without being dropped from the pool). Educators who were previously assigned to part-time teaching positions shall have the right to be recalled to any position up to their previous FTE. No part-time educator has a right to be recalled to any position with FTE greater than the position held at the time of layoff.
Part-Time Positions. 7.2.1 A position may be stipulated as part-time in which the Employee works less than full days or full weeks with working arrangements stipulated in the appointment letter. If a position is not stipulated as part-time, it is assumed to be full-time.
