PROMOTION AND STAFF CHANGES. 10.01 When a vacancy occurs or a new position is created within the bargaining unit, the Board shall post, on all bulletin boards, for seven (7) working days a notice stating the nature of the position, the educational and experience qualifications required, the salary rate or range, and the cut off date for application. In selecting an applicant to fill the vacancy, the Board shall consider the applicant's overall qualifications and seniority. After the interview process has been completed, and where two (2) or more applicants equally satisfy the aforementioned criteria, seniority shall govern. All applications for internal postings must be submitted in writing to the designated manager cited on the posting, by the specified date. A current resume and a covering letter are required, indicating the posting referral number and position applied for. Untimely or incomplete submissions will not be considered. Applications will not be accepted from employees who have not completed their probationary period, however, if there are no successful internal applicants, the probationary employees may apply at the same time as other external applicants.
PROMOTION AND STAFF CHANGES. 7.01 In all cases of appointment, transfer, promotion and in the advancement of employees to higher classifications, the employee having the required qualifications and the greatest seniority shall be the successful candidate.

(a) When a vacancy occurs or a new position is created inside the bargaining unit, the Employer shall notify the Union in writing and post notice of the position in the Employer's offices, and on all bulletin boards, within seven (7) days of the vacancy or of the new position being established, for a minimum of fourteen (14) calendar days, so that all members will know about the vacancy or new position.

PROMOTION AND STAFF CHANGES. 17.01 (a) When a vacancy occurs or a new position is created, the Corporation shall post notice of the position electronically through the Corporation’s intranet system for a period of five (5) working days, with an email copy to the Union, in order that all members will know about the position and able to make on-line application. By expressing interest through the application process, the successful applicant will be required to accept the position to which they applied. Short periods of absenteeism of up to three (3) months’ duration need not be posted and shall be filled by part-time employees. During such temporary assignments such employees shall retain their status as part-time employees. Upon completion of the temporary assignment, the employee shall return to their former permanent position. If the former permanent position no longer exists, the employee shall exercise their seniority rights in accordance with Article 18. Absenteeism of over three (3) months duration such as arise because of extended illness or accident, pregnancy leave, WSIB accident, leaves of absence, etc., shall be posted and filled in accordance with Article 17 of this Agreement. Such posting shall clearly state that "this is a temporary position" and any employee who is selected for such position shall be returned to their former position with the Corporation upon completion of the period of absence. A part-time employee who is the successful applicant for a posted temporary full- time position shall retain their status as a part-time employee during such temporary assignment and shall accrue full time seniority during the temporary assignment.

For the purpose of this Article, an internal applicant for a new position or a vacancy shall be a member of the CUPE Local 181 Brantford Public Library Full-Time, Part- Time or Page Unit and, as such, shall have her full CUPE seniority accumulation within her bargaining unit recognized for the purpose of Articles 11.01 c and d.

PROMOTION AND STAFF CHANGES. Vacant Education Assistant positions shall be posted on all bulletin boards within the community schools for a minimum of five (5) working days. Such notice shall contain the following information for each of the positions: - required knowledge and education, special abilities and skills. Appointments shall be made, taking into consideration required qualifications, seniority and relevant experience of the applicant. Copies of all school postings shall be forwarded to the President of the Union.
PROMOTION AND STAFF CHANGES. 14.01 Job Posting When the Employer decides to fill a permanent vacancy or new position in the Bargaining Unit, notice of the position will be posted on the bulletin board for a minimum of 10 days so that all members will know about the position and be able to make written application therefore. The postings shall stipulate the qualifications, classifications rate of pay, location/department and shift. Vacancies created by filling of an initial permanent vacancy will be posted for a period of three (3) consecutive calendar days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. Applications for such vacancies shall be made in writing within the three (3) days period referred to herein.
