SICK TIME/PERSONAL DAYS. A. All regular and full time twelve (12) month service employees shall receive sick time of not more than 80 hours (10 days) per school year. Ten (10) month employees shall receive sick time of not more than 64 hours (8 days) per school year. Sick time hours will not be available for use until after completion of the 90 work day probationary period. Sick time hours will be pro-rated based on hire date. Sick time shall include: • Personal illness, injury, or quarantine. • Serious illness or death in the immediate family. Immediate family includes wife (or husband), children, father, brother, mother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sister- in-law, and brother-in-law of the employee. B. All regular and full time twelve (12) month service employees shall receive 3 personal business days per year school year. Ten month (10 month) employees shall receive 2 personal days per year. Personal business days, as defined here, means an activity that requires the employee's presence during the work day and is of such a nature that it cannot be attended to at a later time when schools are not in session or at the conclusion of the working day or on weekends. Certain types of family obligations, legal commitments, religious observance, unusual circumstance related to professional growth, and emergencies are considered to be justification for the utilization of the personal business policy. Recreation, social functions, and interviews for new employment are examples of activities not within this policy. Subject to the labor needs of the operation on the day requested, personal business will not be unreasonably denied. C. PTO days carried over by employees hired prior to July 1, 2021 shall convert to personal business days, which need to be pre-approved prior to use. PTO days converted to personal business days can also be used if any employee’s sick bank is depleted. D. All regular employees shall be credited with a service accumulation for sick time and personal days at the end of each fiscal year equal to the number of unused days in the current allowance for that year. This service accumulation process may continue during the service of the employee up to a maximum of one- thousand four hundred forty hours (equivalent to 180 days). All sick time and personal days accumulated prior to the execution of this Agreement shall be credited and carried forward. SICK TIME/PERSONAL DAYS. 9.1 Each teacher shall receive 15 paid sick days each year. Unused sick days may be accumulated to a maximum of 85 days. The District may require a heath care provider’s certificate in the following circumstances (which are not mutually exclusive): 9.1.1 Any period of absence consisting of more than four (4) consecutive working days; 9.1.2 Leave of any duration if absence from duty recurs frequently or habitually, provided the employee had been notified that a certificate will be required; or 9.1.3 Leave of any duration when evidence indicates reasonable cause of requiring such a certificate.
SICK TIME/PERSONAL DAYS. In addition to leaves as provided in Article 8 and 9 above, unit members will be allowed to leave for personal illness or illness of a spouse, children or parents of the employee (“sick day”) or other personal reasons (“personal days”) subject to the following: 10.1 Probationary employees will receive one (1) sick day at the beginning of the school year or at the start of their employment and shall accrue one (1) sick day at the end of each subsequent calendar month in which the member actually works at least 60% of the days he or she is otherwise scheduled to work. Except for those members who are assigned summer hours, the maximum number of sick days to accrue for a single academic year shall be ten (10). Year round employees may earn up to three (3) additional sick days. Each member who is no longer probationary on July 1 of a school year will begin the school year with his or her accumulated sick days as outlined in section 10.2 below plus their annual sick day allotment as outlined in section 10.1 above. 10.2 Members may accumulate a maximum of thirty (30) unused sick days to be carried over to the next academic year which are to be added to the member’s annual sick day allotment for that new academic year . The days carried over, however, may only be used as sick days (personal illness or the illness of a spouse, children or parents of the employee). 10.3 In order to be eligible to be compensated for a sick day, the employee must call the principal or designee no less than 60 minutes before the time that the employee is to report to work. 10.4 Each member will receive two (2) personal days at the beginning of the school year. 10.5 Unit members shall be given a written accounting of their accumulated sick leave at the beginning of each school year. 10.6 A member shall not be compensated for accumulated or other sick or personal days upon the permanent or temporary cessation of employment with the District. 10.7 The Association and the Board agree that bargaining unit members are eligible to participate in a Sick Day Bank which shall be administered jointly by the Association and the Administration.

  • Personal Days Employee shall be entitled to three (3) personal days annually, pro-rated for any partial year of employment, the unused portion of which shall accumulate as sick days.

  • Personal Day All employees shall receive a personal day in each contract year. This personal day is in addition to the holidays listed in paragraph 3 above. The personal day shall be scheduled in accordance with the following provision: Employees may select such day off on five (5) days notice to the Employer provided such selection does not result in a reduction of employees in the building below 75% of the normal work staff. Such selection shall be made in accordance with seniority.

  • Personal Leave Days Section 1. All employees after completion of six (6) months of service shall be entitled to receive personal leave days in the following manner: (A) All full time employees shall be entitled to twenty-four (24) hours of personal leave with pay each fiscal year; (B) Part-time, seasonal, and job share employees shall be granted such leave in a prorated amount of twenty-four (24) hours based on the same percentage or fraction of month they are hired to work, or as subsequently formally modified, provided it is anticipated that they will work 1,040 hours during the fiscal year; Section 2. Should any employee fail to work 1,040 hours for the fiscal year, the value of personal leave time used may be recovered from the employee. Section 3. Personal leave shall not be cumulative from year to year nor is any unused leave compensable in any other manner. Section 4. Such leave may be used by an employee for any purpose he/she desires and may be taken at times mutually agreeable to the university and the employee.

  • Personal/Xxxxx’s Leave 7.3.1 All full time employees shall be entitled to accrue paid personal / xxxxx's leave on the basis of 10 days per year (or pro-rata thereof for any period less than one year). Part-time employees are entitled to a pro-rata benefit. Paid personal / carer's leave is cumulative. 7.3.2 All accrued personal leave shall be available for use as carer's leave in accordance with the provisions outlined below. 7.3.3 As part of its commitment to provide a family-friendly workplace, the employer will allow employees to use any amount of accrued personal /xxxxx's leave to enable employees to: (a) provide primary care to partners, children and/or other household or family members. (b) attend the funerals of family or household members or close family relatives (if compassionate leave is not available in the circumstances). 7.3.4 The leave provided for in this clause will be granted subject to the following: (a) The employee must notify the employer of the reason and likely duration of the absence before 7.00 am on the first day of the absence, unless this is not possible due to an unexpected emergency in which case the employee must notify the employer as soon as practicable. (b) Where circumstances permit, an employee must endeavour to arrange leave to minimise the impact on operational needs. (c) The provision of appropriate documentary evidence. 1. For sick leave, a medical certificate or if not reasonably practicable to provide a medical certificate- a statutory declaration made by the employee. 2. For xxxxx's leave, a medical certificate in respect to the family or household member, or a statutory declaration by the employee. 3. For compassionate leave, any evidence that the employer reasonably requires. 7.3.5 The employee is not entitled to take more than 10 days of paid xxxxx’s leave (1/26th of the nominal hours worked by the employee) per year, regardless of the amount of personal leave the employee has accumulated over time. 7.3.6 An employee may request to cash out any amount of paid personal/xxxxx’s leave that they have accrued that is excess of 3/52 of the number of nominal hours worked over the past 12 months. For example, an employee working 38 hours per week over 12 months must retain 15 days of paid personal/carer’s leave and may cash out any further personal/carer’s leave that has been accumulated. 7.3.7 In addition to the above, a request to cash out personal/xxxxx’s leave will only be granted where: (a) the employee elects to cash out their leave in writing; and (b) the employer agrees. 7.3.8 Casual Employees engaged in continuous service shall be entitled to personal leave limited to the provision of sub clause 7.3.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Overtime for Part-Time Employees ‌ (a) A part-time employee working less than the normal hours per day of a full-time employee, and who is required to work longer than their regular workday, shall be paid at the rate of straight-time for the hours so worked, up to and including the normal hours in the workday of a full-time employee. (b) A part-time employee working less than the normal days per week of a full-time employee, and who is required to work other than their regularly scheduled workdays, shall be paid at the rate of straight-time for the days so worked up to and including the normal workdays in the workweek of a full-time employee. (c) Overtime rates shall apply to hours worked in excess of (a) and (b) above.

  • Leave for Personal Reasons An employee may be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority when she requests such leave for good and sufficient cause. Such requests shall be in writing and approved by the Employer. In an emergency, application may be made by telephone or in person. Permission for such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Overtime Hours Except as otherwise provided in this section, all hours worked in excess of the established work day, before or after an employee's regular scheduled shift, or on any regularly scheduled day off, shall be considered overtime. All paid vacation time, paid holidays, paid sick leave, compensatory time off, and paid leaves of absence shall be considered as "time worked" for purposes of this Article. Part-time employees whose established work day is less than eight (8) hours shall not be considered to be working overtime until having completed eight (8) hours of work.
