Special Assignment Positions. Special assignment positions within a classification may be established where duties and responsibilities are of a specialized nature by comparison to other positions in the class or the duties and responsibilities in the class specification. Selection of employees to said positions and removal from those positions shall be made by the City Manager or designee upon recommendation of the Department Director. An employee so assigned shall receive additional pay equal to five percent (5%) of the employee’s present salary.

Special Assignment Positions. 11.1 For the purpose of this Contract, Special Assignment positions are U.S. Park Police Private positions to which Technician pay is authorized.
Special Assignment Positions. ‌ As of the first full pay period following July 1, 2019, Special Assignment positions within a classification may be established where duties and responsibilities are of a specialized nature by comparison to other positions in the class. Assignment of employees to special assignment positions shall be made by the Police Chief. All employees assigned to one of the following positions shall be paid an additional five percent (5%) of base salary for the term of their assignment:
Special Assignment Positions. 13.03.01 Special assignments may be initiated by the Director of Education. Notices of Special Assignment positions shall be posted within the school year by the Board in all secondary schools for a minimum of five (5) days prior to the interview dates. Postings will include job descriptions, responsibility allowances where applicable and the estimated duration of the assignment(s).
Special Assignment Positions. The positions of Director of Training, EMS Coordinator, and Public Education Director shall be considered “Special Assignment Positions” and shall be selected from qualified, interested applicants, based on the following selection process: Notices for Special Assignment Positions must include the requisite qualifications, responsibilities of the position and the relevant job description. The job description for the Director of Training is attached hereto and incorporated herein. The EMS Coordinator and Public Education Director Position job descriptions shall be developed by the District and attached to any notice for an opening in the position. At a minimum, a letter of intent, resume, and oral interview will be required of applicants for Special Assignment Positions. The District agrees that, if in the future, it determines to test for the selection of Special Assignment Positions; it will notify the Union of the terms of such testing. If a Special Assignment Positions is given to a member of the collective bargaining unit, the employee selected for such position shall retain their last tested rank in addition to their Special Assignment title. Employees in Special Assignment Positions will remain eligible for the applicable promotional testing process. In the event that no qualified and/or interested bargaining unit members apply for an available Special Assignment Position, may the District fill the position from outside the bargaining unit. In the event that an employee wishes to resign his/her Special Assignment Position and return to regular shift, he/she shall provide the District and the Union with two-weeks’ written notice, after which the District shall return him/her to regular shift upon the opening/availability of a position in the employee’s rank. In the event of the elimination of any Special Assignment Position, the District shall provide a two-week written notice to the affected employee(s) and the Union, and shall return the employee(s) to regular shift. The wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment for the Director of Training, EMS Coordinator and Public Education Director positions shall be established by the Board of Trustees. This agreement constitutes the full agreement between the parties and supersedes all other agreements written or otherwise covering the subject matter of this agreement.

Selection of employees to said positions and removal therefrom shall be made by the City Manager upon recommendation of the Department Head. An employee so assigned shall receive a salary increment not to exceed five percent (5%) of the employee’s present salary. Special assignment positions within a classification which have been previously established by the Chief of Police to meet operational needs of the Department are not subject to the provisions of this Section unless those positions have been established by the City Council or are subject to additional compensation as otherwise specified in this Memorandum of Understanding.

A member must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a uniformed patrol officer to be considered for special assignment.
