Temporary Supervisor. When there is normally a Supervisor present and the Company designates an employee to act in the capacity as a Temporary Supervisor, the employee will receive an hourly premium of one dollar ($1.00). When required to cover the absence of a Supervisor, the Company may offer a Temporary Supervisor position in accordance with the following:
(a) The duties will be offered on a voluntary basis and in order of seniority amongst the Crew Chiefs on shift at the time of the occurrence.
(b) Employees who have assumed the duties of a Temporary Supervisor will not be involved in the discipline or discharge of any other employee.
(c) No disciplinary action will be taken for errors or omissions while the employee has assumed the duties of a Temporary Supervisor except where the Company establishes, pursuant to the provisions of Article 16.12, that the error or omission resulted from the irresponsible or negligent actions of the employee.
Temporary Supervisor. A person who has been appointed from a list of eligibles, or provisionally in the absence of a list, to a position which is other than a permanent position.
Temporary Supervisor. Supervisor is an employee who temporarily assumes the duties of a supervisor. The Temporary Supervisor rate also applies to members assigned to specific training positions. It is further agreed that such assignments will not include training contractor personnel or supervisory dispatchers or quality control functions. Temporary Supervisors may be required to distribute work and answer questions. They will not be asked to conduct performance appraisals or handle disciplinary matters. Only an employee who desires a Temporary Supervisor opportunity will be considered for the position. The opportunity will be posted in all offices and stations to ensure Local 975 memberships are aware of the volunteer concept. The Company will review the capabilities of those who express an interest Employees agreeing to take a Temporary Supervisor assignment will not be required to change shifts, and other Local 975 employees will not experience shift changes due to someone else being made a Temporary Supervisor. The Company will notify the Union of all Temporary Supervisor assignments exceeding one-month (1) duration. For assignments expected to exceed three (3) months in a twelve-month (12) period, the Company and the Union must be in mutual agreement. Training positions will not exceed six months without mutual agreement. From time to time the Company is required to perform C&M work outside the hours of the regular day shift. Because it is not practicable at this time to set up new shifts to do this work, the Company requires that employees temporarily change their hours of work so that the work can be completed on a timely and cost effective basis. The Union recognizes the need of its C&M day shift crews on an “as needed” basis, and that for the first eight (8) hours per day of these rearranged hours, employees agreeing to change hours will be paid at straight time. The Union executive and the involved employee will be given as much notice as possible of the impending schedule change For the purpose of Article twenty three (23) the re-assigned hours will be considered “regular hours” for the duration of the reassignment. Overtime clauses will apply accordingly. The Company is committed to maintaining any existing employees in the classification of Operations Technician. Temporary Supervisor.
26.1 When Created A temporary supervisor position may be created when the requirements and/or the operational needs require the temporary assignment of an employee to a supervisory position due to a long-term absence or other unforeseen vacancy, or operational needs within the supervisor positions. Notice of the temporary supervisor position will be posted in the department where the vacancy exists and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be interviewed.
Temporary Supervisor. If an employee working in a classification other than a “head” position is designated to serve as a supervisor for two or more other employees, including part-time or student employees, he/she will receive a supervisory increment of 20 cents per hour for the designated time period.
Temporary Supervisor. The Union agrees that the selection of the employees to replace supervision on a temporary basis shall be a management prerogative and that seniority will not be considered in any situation. Employees who are chosen for this position shall be trained for such, up to a maximum of three (3) months. One section of the training will be in the area of how to manage the confidentiality of information that the incumbent is exposed to. The selected employee may be used for temporary supervisory assignments. This assignment is not to exceed twelve (12) months, excluding the training period. An employee who temporarily replaces supervisory employees for the above period(s) will receive an additional rate of pay- one dollar ($1.00) per hour above the incumbent’s current rate of pay or the highest production classification coached/supervised, whichever is greater. During this fill-in period, the employee(s) will not administer discipline. Upon completion of this fill-in period, employee(s) will return to their bid classification (without loss of seniority in the Bargaining Unit) that they held prior to taking on this assignment. The Company will notify the Union in writing when it wishes to use the employee(s). Employees holding a Temporary Supervisor position for more than twelve (12) cumulative months in an eighteen (18) month period will lose their previously held bid job. In the event the employee loses job rights, the employee will receive rate protection for twelve (12) months from the date of the employee’s most recent assignment as Temporary Supervisor.
Temporary Supervisor. $1.00 per hour above the incumbents current rate of pay or the highest production rate supervised/ coached, whichever is greater.
Temporary Supervisor. The Company may, if it deems necessary, appoint from among volunteers, a qualified Bargaining Unit employee, who is at the maximum wage rate for the employee's job title, to act temporarily as a supervisor over other employees within the appropriate work group. Employees at the maximum wage rate with seniority shall be given full consideration before the appointment is made. However, seniority shall not be the governing factor and shall not prevent the appointment of an employee with less seniority who is better qualified for the appointment. If there are no such employees at the maximum wage rate in the group to be considered, another employee may be appointed. When an employee is acting as temporary supervisor, the employee shall perform only those duties normally performed by the supervisor the employee is replacing.
Temporary Supervisor. As agreed to by the parties, the company shall be allowed to pick one union member to act as a temporary supervisor. When acting in this capacity the temporary supervisor must adhere to Section 2.04 of the Collective Labour Agreement. This person would return to his former classification when this position is no longer necessary.
