TRAINING AND TRAVEL. 21.01 Time in which an employee spends in training required by the employer and time in which an employee spends in travel to/from such training shall be considered as hours worked.

TRAINING AND TRAVEL. (a) No employee who attends training required by the Authority, at locations outside of Prince Xxxxxx (e.g. Vancouver, Seattle etc.) will incur loss of normal straight time wages for the period in attendance at such training. Employees who attend training under this provision on their scheduled days off be compensated at straight time rates and may request alternative days off in lieu. Expenses for travel and accommodation be paid reimbursed by the Authority. Meals, incidentals and rates be paid reimbursed as per Treasury Board rates in effect at the time of travel. In the event employee must travel outside of work schedule per (a) be paid a sum equal to two (2) hours at their straight time hourly rate per round trip. Employees who are scheduled for and participate in on-site or local (Xxxxxx Xxxxxx xxxx) training, required by the Authority, in excess of the employee's normal hours shall be paid at the applicable overtime rate or as requested by the employee may be taken as equivalent time off. Time off granted under provision is subject to operational requirements. The Authority may authorize, at its discretion, time off for enhancement training. The Authority agrees to reimburse employees all or part of the cost of tuition fees for those employees who successfully complete a course of study by the Authority and provided by a recognized educational institution outside their normal hours of work. The Authority further agrees to provide the Employee time off with pay to write exams during their normal hours. The Authority reimburse employees for reasonable expenses incurred traveling on Authority business. An employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one (1) year, which may be renewed by mutual agreement. The career development leave shall be for attendance at a institution for studies in some field of education which the Authority agrees enhance the employee's present role or provide a required service in the future. Employees generally will need to adjust their work schedules when training or travel prevents the employee from working their established tour, regardless of the number of days involved and the type of work schedule the employee has chosen. If training does not last eight (8) hours, employees will need to account for the shortage by:

TDY travel should be minimized, and alternate technology used instead, to the extent practicable. Travel expenses (e.g., per diem) must be documented in an official travel authorization. • Distance learning options generally should be used as the first option to meet training needs.
TRAINING AND TRAVEL. Employer encourages employee development, within budgetary constraints. All employees are entitled to attend workshops, conferences or seminars as they relate to their position. Training and Travel Policy and Procedures shall be governed by the Personnel Manual except that for purposes of this collective bargaining agreement any unreasonable denial of training or travel shall be subject to the grievance procedure. Meal breaks during off site training are included in the total hours worked.
