VACANCIES/NEW POSITIONS. 26.01 Vacancies within the scope of this Agreement shall be visibly posted on the bulletin board within seven (7) calendar days from which the vacancy occurred and employees shall be allowed a further seven (7) calendar days in which to make a written application for such vacancy.
26.02 New positions within the scope of this Agreement shall be visibly posted on the bulletin board and employees shall be allowed seven (7) calendar days in which to make a written application for this new position.
26.03 Job postings shall include the title of the position, the classification the position will be paid in, the hours it will be expected to work, the duties to be performed and the application deadline.
26.04 Vacancies and new positions within the scope of this Agreement shall be filled within a further seven (7) calendar days following the completion of the seven (7) calendar days the vacancy and/or new position was posted for applications.
26.05 An employee transferred or promoted to a vacancy or a new position shall be on trial for three (3) months. If the employee is required to revert to their former position or if the employee voluntarily decides to revert to their former position during this three (3) month trial period, said employee shall be entitled to do so without any loss of benefits and seniority and shall receive their former rate of pay.
VACANCIES/NEW POSITIONS.
A. A vacancy shall be defined as any new position or an opening in an existing position which a bargaining unit member leaves during or at the end of the school year.
B. Notice of all permanent vacancies shall be posted by the end of the school year in each school, clearly setting forth qualifications for the positions, duties, and salary ranges. Such qualifications, duties, and salary ranges shall not be changed after having been posted without prior notice to the Association. Such notice shall be posted at least seven (7) business days (when central administrative office is open) before the date when applications must be submitted. Bargaining unit members who desire to apply for such vacancies shall submit their application, in writing, to the Superintendent or his/her designee within the time limits specified in the notice.
C. Transfers to vacant positions, for the purpose of preserving positions of the members of the bargaining unit, may be made without the necessity of posting. The Association will be notified of all such transfers.
D. When a vacancy occurs during the school year, notice of the vacancy shall be emailed to all bargaining unit members (both Unit A and Unit B), identifying the qualifications for the position, duties and salary range. A notice will also be sent to the president of the Association. Notice of the vacancy shall be posted both internally and externally for at least seven (7) business days. Bargaining unit members who desire to apply for any such vacancies shall submit their application, in writing, to the Superintendent or their designee within the time limits specified in
E. When vacancies occur during the summer, the following time frames for posting shall be followed: before July 15th, at least fourteen (14) days; from July 15th to August 1st at least seven (7) days; and, after August 1st, no time period.
F. In order to leave the school districts in good standing, a bargaining unit member must notify the Superintendent in writing of his/her decision to resign his/her position no less than sixty (60) days in advance of his/her departure.
G. Notification of all new bargaining unit positions will be sent to the President of the STA.
VACANCIES/NEW POSITIONS. 11.1. If a vacancy occurs or a new position is created, such position shall be bulletined in the Electric Generation and Water Treatment Plants for seven (7) days. If the vacancy cannot be filled from qualified permanent Power and Water Treatment Plant employees, the position shall then be bulletined in other City departments or advertised externally.
11.2. The City shall consider the qualifications, ability, and seniority of permanent employees and in the event of seniority being disregarded reason must be given to the representative(s) of the local Union.
11.3. All new employees shall serve a probationary period for the first one thousand (1000) regular hours paid to allow the City to determine the employee’s suitability and ability for continued employment.
11.3.1. A probationary period may be extended by the City up to an additional five hundred (500) hours paid.
11.4. A permanent employee who is awarded a permanent position (including a position outside the bargaining unit) shall serve a trial period of three hundred and sixty (360) regular hours worked. During this trial period, the employee may choose to return, or the City may direct the employee to return, to his former position without any loss of seniority or former basic rate of pay. Any other employees affected by the rearrangement of positions shall also be returned to their former position without loss of seniority or former basic rate of pay.
VACANCIES/NEW POSITIONS. (a) In filling vacancies the skill, knowledge and efficiency of the Members concerned shall be the primary consideration and where such qualifications are equal, Seniority shall be the determining factor.
(b) The parties to this Agreement acknowledge and accept the Police Promotional Plan of the West Vancouver Police Board Policies and such amendments as are approved by the Board and agree to be bound by the applicable sections and amendments as referred to in the Police Promotional Plan.
(c) The Board further agrees that before making amendments to the Promotional Plan the Association shall have an opportunity to consider such amendments and to make representation to the Board. All such amendments approved by the Board shall have effect in the year preceding a promotional competition.
(d) Appointments to fill vacancies in established promoted ranks, i.e. above First Class Constable, shall be made within 30 days.
(e) Vacancies in other positions shall be filled as soon as reasonably possible.
(f) Members may be transferred to positions of equal rank within the Department, at the discretion of the Chief Constable, without consideration to Seniority.
(g) The rate of pay and working conditions for any positions established by the Board and which are within the Associations Certificate of Bargaining Authority shall be negotiated by the Board with the Association prior to the posting of same.

VACANCIES/NEW POSITIONS. 1. If a vacancy occurs in the bargaining unit, any temporary arrangement to cover the work (e.g., have a manager do it, hire a temporary employee) can only be in effect for the 180 days following the actual vacancy of the position or up to a maximum of two (2) weeks prior to the actual vacancy of the position provided such notice of resignation was received in writing from the employee, whichever occurs first.
2. Upon the completion of 180 days, the Employer must either a) fill the position on a regular basis with the current or revised job description; or b) demonstrate a good faith effort to fill the position within the next two months (a good faith effort includes reviewing the job description, posting the job description, and actively recruiting, receiving and reviewing resumes) or c) make a determination not to fill the position. A temporary arrangement to cover work may only be extended for more than 180 days past the two week period prior to the creation of the vacancy or the actual vacancy of the position, whichever is applicable, provided the Employer has demonstrated a good faith effort to fill the position.
3. A determination by the Employer not to fill the position under Section 2 above, shall not restrict the Employer's ability to fill the position on a non-temporary basis at a later time under the provisions of this Article.
VACANCIES/NEW POSITIONS. Classifications
VACANCIES/NEW POSITIONS. (A) All vacancies and new positions shall be posted for a period of seven (7) working days on bulletin boards to be provided for such purpose, prior to any action taken by the Board to fill such vacancies or new positions. Employees wishing to be considered for assignment to such vacancies or new positions may submit their request to the Superintendent in writing. Employees requesting consideration and who are not selected for such assignment in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement, may appeal the action through the grievance procedure.
(B) Copies of the job posting and a list of the persons bidding for the job and the name of the successful applicant shall be sent to the Union Secretary upon request at the end of the posting period.
