WORK YEAR, WORK WEEK, WORK DAY. A. The normal work year, hours and week are stated in Appendix B. These hours are not a guarantee and may be reduced by the Board for good reason. The Employer has the right to set the length of year, week, and day to comply with state and federal mandates. The hours per day may vary with position; however, an Employee's normal work day will be scheduled by the Employer. Daily starting and ending times shall be established by the Employer. Employees shall be notified of the hours, starting and ending time, and location of their tentative assignment no later than two weeks prior to the start of the student school year. The Employer reserves the right to change the work hours during any given day to accommodate the schedule of the students’ hours. If the employer installs time clocks for documentation of member’s work hours, both parties will meet and mutually agree upon methods of implementation/utilization. If the agreement is not reached prior to the printing of this contract then a letter of agreement shall be drafted and signed. B. The normal work week for Employees is Monday through Friday. C. The normal work day for all Employees working over five (5) hours shall include a duty-free uninterrupted lunch hour of thirty (30) minutes duration. Said lunch hour shall not count as paid time. D. All Employees working seven (7) hours or more per day shall be entitled to two (2) fifteen (15) minute relief periods per day. Employees working three and one-half (3 1/2) hours or more per day but less than seven (7) hours shall be entitled to one (1) fifteen (15) minute relief period per day. Employees working overtime will be entitled to an additional fifteen (15) minute relief period for each additional three (3) hours worked daily.

The base work year, work hours per week and/or work hours per day for all full- time employees in the bargaining unit covered by this agreement shall be as set forth in Appendix A. B. The base work year for school-aged employees shall include six (6) professional days in addition to fulfilling ODE’s requirement of 910 hours for students in grades K-6 and 1001 hours for students in grades 7-12. The base year for newly-employed instructors, instructor assistants and therapists shall include one (1) additional day, which day shall be an orientation meeting prior to the start of school. School-age staff will follow the Board-adopted school calendar for each school year for all student days, professional days, and holidays. Instructors and Instructor Assistants are paid seven (7) hours a day for 184 days which equates to 1288 hours a school year. Staff are required to be physically present while school is in session. Otherwise, the appropriate leave request form must be submitted to the principal. D. Full- and part-time Early Intervention Developmental Specialists, EI Service Coordinators, EI Hearing Specialists, and Therapists working the early childhood program shall work a flexible time schedule over a twelve (12) month period. These days shall be scheduled to meet the needs of families and shall be approved by the Director of Early Childhood Services or designee. The holidays listed in section 9.01(A) shall not be scheduled as workdays unless approved by the Director of Early Childhood Services. The twelve (12) month period for each staff member is calculated based on a calendar year. E. The work week for full-time nurses shall be flexible and scheduled by the supervisor to meet the needs of the program. F. Nurses working part-time shall be paid at the hourly rate established according to the nurses’ salary schedule. The work year for part-time nurses shall be according to the needs of the program. G. The standard work day for maintenance employees and custodians shall be 8.5 hours, which includes a one-half hour unpaid lunch period. H. The minimum call-in-time for emergency situations shall be two (2) hours. 12.4 All employees will be entitled to two (2) fifteen minute relief times, except that an employee working less than five (5) hours per day may receive one (1) fifteen (15) minute relief time. Relief time must be taken after the first hour and before the last hour in the employee's work day. Relief time cannot be taken in conjunction with the employee's lunch period. Employees working overtime past the regular shift will be entitled to an additional fifteen (15) minute relief time period for every two (2) hours worked. 12.5 Overtime shall be divided among employees within each classification in the following manner.
