Certification/Licensure. In certain disciplines, professional certification/licensure is necessary to adequately meet the requirements of the faculty position. In such cases, the faculty member must maintain current and active certification/licensure status.
Certification/Licensure a. Contractor represents that it is a public post-secondary educational institution with the capability and the experience to provide services in the subject area specified herein. If any class offered under this contract is for college credit, the instructor employed to teach this class will hold or qualify for a valid Faculty Service Area (FSA) authorizing instruction at the post-secondary level in the subject area specified.
b. Contractor and subcontractors will maintain all licensures and certifications as required by regulatory statute and standard for each agency’s operations. Subcontracted agencies will maintain and keep current all licenses granted through the State Department of Social Services and the accreditation granted through the California Alliance of Services to Children and Families.

Certification/Licensure. All bargaining unit members whose teaching assignment involves the instruction of students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) must meet one (1) of the following two (2) conditions for district employment:
A. Full current state certification/licensure in special education as an Intervention Specialist
B. Eligible for an Ohio Department of Education Supplemental license (or other appropriate temporary endorsement) as an Intervention Specialist. This includes the completion of six (6) semester hours of coursework with an accredited college or university as part of a preparative program of obtaining full licensure in special education as an Intervention Specialist. A minimum of six (6) semester hours must be completed before the start of every school year until full licensure is obtained pursuant to ODE regulations for licensure. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of employment with the school district.
Certification/Licensure. A. Bargaining unit members must be certificated/licensed by the State of Ohio, Department of Education.
B. Bargaining unit members with temporary certificates shall complete requirements for Provisional Certificates/Licenses. Teachers with Provisional Certificates/Licenses must meet legal requirements for renewal.
C. Certification/licensure and certificate/licensure renewal are the responsibility of the bargaining unit members. The Superintendent's office shall make every effort to assist them with certification/licensure.
D. Bargaining unit members shall maintain all areas of certification/licensure which were held on the date of employment, for a period of five (5) years (July 1 - June 30). Bargaining unit members shall receive a salary and benefits in accordance with all applicable provisions of the Ohio Revised Code, which currently state that no teacher shall receive salary and/or benefits without holding proper certification. Bargaining unit members must be able to provide proof of proper certification to the district by September 1 of each school year.
E. If a bargaining unit member is requested, but not required by the Board of Education to secure new areas of certification/licensure, the Board shall reimburse tuition costs.
Certification/Licensure. Section 1. Submission and Decision Making
A. All applications for certification/licensure renewal will be submitted by April 15 of the expiration year.
B. Notification of committee action on certification/licensure renewal will occur within 15 working days after the April 15 deadline.
C. Any decision to approve or deny the certification/licensure renewal must receive the majority vote of the committee.
D. If the submitted certificate/license application is denied, the individual will be notified in writing with the reasons for denial identified. Notification will be by registered letter sent by the Chair within 2 working days.
E. Educators have 10 days from the receipt of the denial notification to contact the LPDC in writing to schedule a date to review the documentation. If the certificate/ license application is not approved, the educator will receive an appeals form.
F. Any educator who falsifies statements on any documentation submitted to the LPDC will be referred to the Ohio Department of Education, which may result in the loss of the certificate/license in the State of Ohio.
Certification/Licensure. By June 30 of the year in which a teacher’s certification/licensure expires, evidence must be provided to the Superintendent showing that an application for certification/licensure has been submitted to the Department of Education.
Certification/Licensure. A. Teachers are obligated to see that a certified transcript of credits and a copy of the teaching certificate or teaching license are filed in the office of the Board of Education no later the first student day of each school year, unless the teacher submits to the Board of Education proof that his/her license application has completed the LPDC process and is in approval process with ODE.
B. Each bargaining unit member shall hold a legal certificate or teaching license issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
C. The failure to have a valid certificate or license for his/her area(s) of assignment on file with the Board of Education or show proof that such is currently in process at ODE by the first student day of the school year shall result in the removal of the teacher from his/her regular assignments and any supplemental directly related to teaching responsibilities (i.e. Department Chairs, Building Technology Assistant, Yearbook Advisor, etc.) without further pay. During the period between the first student day of the school year and the actual date of removal, the teacher shall be paid according to the certified salary schedule and shall receive all other benefits afforded to bargaining unit members. During the period of removal, the teacher may remain under the insurance benefits if he/she pays to the Board the full amount of the premiums in advance. During this removal, the teacher shall not have access to any leave of absence. The teacher shall be reinstated to his/her former position with all previous seniority restored as soon as a valid certificate or license has been approved by the Ohio Department of Education, if prior to February 1st. Failure to have a valid certificate/license by February 1st shall result in the removal of the teacher from the employment of the Board.
D. Master Teacher Committee: The master teacher committee is established for the purpose of designating teachers in the district as a master teacher.
1. The master teacher committee shall be comprised of a majority of practicing teachers. The odd-numbered committee shall be comprised of five (5) members as follows: three (3) teachers appointed by the Association in a manner determined by the Association and two (2) administrators holding Ohio Administrator Licenses. Certification/Licensure. Contractor shall ensure that the instructor for any class offered for college credit meets the minimum qualifications as required by California Education Code. Contractor and subcontractors shall maintain and keep current all licenses granted through the State Department of Social Services and the accreditation granted through the California Alliance of Services to Children and Families.
Certification/Licensure. It will be the responsibility of the unit member to have a valid unexpired teaching credential, or true copy thereof, on file at the Board office for the position to which they are assigned. No unit member shall receive compensation for performance of duties if a valid unexpired teaching credential for the position to which they are assigned is not on file at the Board office. The Board and/or its agents shall not assign a unit member to a position for which the unit member is not certified or is not able to obtain certification/licensure. The Board shall notify a unit member during the school year in which the unit member’s certificate/license expires, that renewal or upgrading of the certificate/license will be necessary.
