Council Leave. Any member of the Council may take a leave of absence up to six (6) months to work on Council business, provided however, that such leave may be extended up to a maximum of one (1) year by mutual consent between the employee and the Agency.

Council Leave. The Employer agrees that one (1) elected officer of the Council shall, upon the written request of the Council, be granted a leave of absence without pay for the term of office, for a period not to exceed two (2) years unless the absence of the employee would cause a substantial hardship on the operating efficiency of the employing unit. Grievances involving the issue of whether a substantial hardship does in fact exist may be appealed directly to arbitration pursuant to Article IV of the Agreement. At the end of the two (2) year period, the elected official may request an extension of the leave of absence without pay. The employee shall retain his or her original date of employment for the computation of seniority. When the employee returns from this leave of absence, the employee shall return to the same job classification, division, location, and assignment. However, if the position no longer is available, the employee shall be allowed to transfer to an open position in the same job classification. If there are no open positions in the same job classification, the employee may bump the least senior person in the job classification and division.
Council Leave. Upon request, the Board shall grant up to ten (10) days non-accumulative to be used by designated Council representatives to attend conferences, workshops, or conventions which are directly related to the Council's labor-management relationship with the District. This leave must be requested by the Council at least three (3) working days prior to the effective date. The Council shall reimburse the District an amount equal to one-day substitute salary for each leave day taken.
Council Leave. A total of eighteen (18) days per school year shall be granted to work on Council business or to attend any conferences or conventions of state and national affiliated organizations, including, but not limited to, the OEA Representative Assembly. Notice of dates of attendance and names will be provided to the Superintendent five (5) days in advance of need only when a substitute is required. The District will bill OEA and no deduction will be made from the monthly check of the bargaining unit member. Up to nine (9) days of the Council’s eighteen days may be used as President’s release time. If no substitute is required, the leave shall not be usable in less than two (2) hour portions except that it shall be usable in one (1) hour portions if taken at the end of the day. If a substitute is required, the leave shall not be usable in less than one-half (½) day increments.

Council leave will only be granted for periods that fall within Sessional Services worked by the VMO on any one day. 4.10.2 If a period of greater than ten (10) days per annum is required the VMO may access their Professional Development Leave for the number of additional days required. 4.10.3 To be eligible, the VMO must be a current Councillor of a Royal College or national specialist society. 4.10.4 A VMO may access Professional Development Leave to attend council related activities, that fall outside of their ordinary rostered hours. 4.10.5 Leave for this purpose does not break continuity of service and counts towards the period of service for the calculation of accrued entitlements. 4.10.6 Leave for this purpose is not cumulative, transferable or paid out on termination of the VMOs employment for any reason. 4.10.7 The National President of a Royal College or national speciality society may be granted additional council leave, greater than 10 days per annum. When considering the granting of additional council leave this will be managed via discussion between the VMO and their Medical Director (at the beginning of the appointment period during each calendar year) in order to support the VMO and also ensure service continuity.
Council Leave. The District shall grant the Association and its members a total of ten (10) days paid leave for Association business that has a direct and central relationship to the Association local bargaining relationship with the District. Such leave must be requested by the Association President at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance. The Association will reimburse the District for the District’s normal rate of pay for substitutes. All expenses for attendees will be paid by the Association. No more than two (2) employees from the same building will be released on the same day.

Council Leave. In addition to annual leave in Clause 8.1, employees will be entitled to 3 days paid Council leave between Christmas and New Year, and one additional day during the Christmas close-down period, if these days fall on a day that would normally be worked by the employee. The date of the additional day will be decided on annually by the Director to best align with where the close-down period falls within the working week (i.e. day before Christmas or after New Year’s statutory holidays).
Council Leave. In the event that the Council desires to send representatives to local, state, or national conferences or meetings, these representatives shall be excused without loss of salary; provided, however, the Council gives five (5) days written notice to the Superintendent and reimburses the District for the cost of the substitute(s). The aggregate number of days for Council leave shall not exceed ten (10) days in any school year except with the permission of the Superintendent. Should a teacher become an NEA Director, that teacher will be entitled to an additional five (5) days of leave without loss of pay to attend state and national meetings of the IEA and NEA; provided, however, that said teacher gives the Superintendent five (5) days written notice and the Council reimburses the District for the cost of a substitute.
