Custodial Overtime. A. When a head custodian is required to make an elementary school building check on a day when he/she is not regularly scheduled to work, said employee shall be paid a minimum of one (1) hour at the rate of time and one-half his/her regular pay. When a head custodian is required to make a middle or high school building check on a day when he/she is not regularlyscheduled to work, said employee shall be paid a minimum of one and one-half (1 1/2) hours at the rate of time and one-half his/her regular pay. In the event the head custodian is unable to make a required building check it is the head custodian’s responsibility to designate another custodian at that building to make the building check. The Board will follow the same procedure at Kingswood as at elementary schools in the district regarding building checks by custodians.

Custodial Overtime. When custodial overtime work is required in a given building, the custodian who works in that building will be given the first opportunity for the overtime work as long as the custodian meets the requirements associated with those overtime job responsibilities as determined at the sole discretion of the supervisor. However, this does not limit the District’s ability to hire a substitute or reassign other custodians to the building to eliminate the need for overtime.
Custodial Overtime. When it is determined to replace a custodial employee who is expected to be absent from work for five (5) days or less, such assignments shall be governed by the following regulations within that building:

Custodial Overtime. 1. Prior to the listing of overtime, the administration shall provide information on such work that is expected to be completed during the assignment of overtime which would be considered specific or routine in nature. The Employees bidding on a particular overtime assignment will be able to inquire into the nature of work that is expected to be completed during the overtime assignment.
Custodial Overtime. ‌ Employees in the custodial classification (cleaner, custodian, maintenance, grounds) will be placed on an Overtime Work list according to classification seniority. The Superintendent/designee will offer the Overtime Work first to employees within the classification starting with the most senior employee on a rotating basis. If no employees who are offered the work accept, then the Overtime Work list will be required to report based on a rotation, beginning with the least senior employee. An employee who volunteers for overtime would be skipped the next time they are in the rotation for required overtime. All overtime work shall be posted five (5) days in advance if possible. All overtime assignments received by Tuesday will be posted by 8:00 a.m. that day and collected by Thursday at 2:30 p.m. All overtime requiring special skills, i.e. plumbing, electrical work, will be scheduled by the supervisor or designee. All overtime will be scheduled and kept by the superintendent's designee on a chart and will be available for viewing at request of any custodian on the overtime list.‌
Custodial Overtime. To the extent practicable, CPS custodians shall be given preference for overtime opportunities over private custodians. In any event, CPS custodians shall be eligible for overtime opportunities on the same basis as private custodians. All overtime must be pre approved.
