Custodial Overtime. A. When a head custodian is required to make an elementary school building check on a day when he/she is not regularly scheduled to work, said employee shall be paid a minimum of one (1) hour at the rate of time and one-half his/her regular pay. When a head custodian is required to make a middle or high school building check on a day when he/she is not regularly scheduled to work, said employee shall be paid a minimum of one and one-half (1 1/2) hours at the rate of time and one-half his/her regular pay. In the event the head custodian is unable to make a required building check it is the head custodian’s responsibility to designate another custodian at that building to make the building check. The Board will follow the same procedure at Kingswood as at elementary schools in the district regarding building checks by custodians. B. Custodian overtime at a work location shall be offered to all custodial and head custodial, including head operating, personnel on a rotation basis beginning with the most senior based on job classification seniority. Exceptions to this policy may be made for the following reasons: 1. When overtime duties to be performed require the presence of the head custodian (head operating employee). 2. When the need for assigned overtime is identified with less than twenty-four [24] hours’ advance notice. 3. When the overtime requires performance of a duty which is not practical for a Custodian I, the Custodian I may be passed but will again be placed on the rotation list for the next available overtime that is consistent with Custodian I duties. 4. Building check is not included for purposes of overtime rotations. Because of the wide variance in advance notice, some overtime may be offered or assigned well in advance, while other overtime may be offered or assigned on relatively short notice. Each head custodian, in consultation with and at the direction of the building administrator, may develop the procedures most suitable to a given work location. Such procedures may include offering known overtime at a predetermined time each week or each month or some combination of the two approaches or some other suitable approach. Personnel who are absent on the date the overtime is offered or absent on the day the overtime is worked shall lose that turn. Custodial Overtime. When it is determined to replace a custodial employee who is expected to be absent from work for five (5) days or less, such assignments shall be governed by the following regulations within that building: A. Eight (8) hours of school building overtime will be assigned when a Custodian is absent from working a full shift. An exception will be made in elementary buildings when an evening program requires that the building remain open the full shift. B The eight (8) overtime hours will be equally divided among all custodial employees assigned to the school building involved.
Custodial Overtime. When custodial overtime work is required in a given building, the custodian who works in that building will be given the first opportunity for the overtime work as long as the custodian meets the requirements associated with those overtime job responsibilities as determined at the sole discretion of the supervisor. However, this does not limit the District’s ability to hire a substitute or reassign other custodians to the building to eliminate the need for overtime.

Overtime will be offered according to the office log. 2) The person with the lowest hours will have first chance at overtime and it will continue with the next lowest hours until the over time is taken. If no one takes the over time it will be offered district wide. 3) Exceptions to this will be made for emergency overtime and unforeseen overtime. Management has the right to fill those as needed when time does not allow for the normal procedures. 4) Overtime can be split between employees, providing management mutually agrees. 5) Scheduled overtime hours must be called into the Maintenance office at the end of each shift or activity. 6) Each employee will fill out a monthly calendar to show his or her availability to be turned into the maintenance office. Anyone not on the master calendar will not be called. Step #1: For shift work the following steps will be followed: 1) The 4 ½ hour person will be called first 2) If not available a custodian from the building not on shift will be called 3) If no one takes the overtime then it will go district wide following procedures in Step #2 4) Sub may be called in For activities the following steps will be followed: 1) Overtime will be offered to custodians in the building first according to the overtime roster 2) If no one takes the overtime it will go district wide and follow the guidelines in Step # 2, below Step #2: When overtime cannot be filled from within the building it will be offered district wide to available employees based on seniority. Each event will start with the last employee who worked district wide overtime. This list will rotate throughout the year and will start over on July 1. Custodial Overtime. 1. When the administration determines to utilize a custodial employee for overtime, overtime shall be offered to custodians using the procedure outlined in the following section of this Article. 2. The building administrator shall maintain an overtime rotation list according to building seniority for those employees assigned to the building and will conduct a weekly meeting at a regularly-scheduled day/time for the assignment of overtime shifts for the following week.
Custodial Overtime. 39 Custodial overtime assignments shall be distributed on a rotating list based on seniority. A 40 custodial seniority list will be made and posted by the Supervisor. Upon request, individual 41 custodians will be provided a copy of current overtime assignments and custodian seniority list. 42 As a custodian accepts an overtime assignment, the custodian will move to the bottom of the 43 list and the next employee moves to the top of the list. If a custodian elects to pass on an 44 overtime assignment that counts as the employee’s turn, and they move to the bottom of the list 45 and the next employee moves up to the top of the list.
Custodial Overtime. 1. All time over forty (40) hours per week shall be paid at time and one-half (1/2). 2. When needed, overtime work shall be scheduled among custodians in accordance with the following: Two (2) weeks prior to the start of each calendar quarter, custodians desiring to work overtime during that quarter shall sign their name to the "overtime desired" list. When, during the quarter, the need for overtime arises, custodians having listed their names will be selected in order of their seniority on a rotating basis. Those absent or on leave shall be passed over. If the voluntary "overtime desired" list does not provide sufficient available custodians, the employer shall assign other employees to the extent needed in order of seniority on a rotating basis.
