Functions of the Commission. The Commission shall, in accordance with the objective, principles and approaches, and specific provisions of this Convention, exercise the following functions: (a) adopt conservation and management measures to achieve the objective of this Convention, including, as appropriate, conservation and management measures for particular fish stocks; (b) determine the nature and extent of participation in fishing for fishery resources including, as appropriate, for particular fish stocks; (c) develop rules for the collection, verification, reporting, storing and dissemination of data; (d) promote the conduct of scientific research to improve knowledge of fishery resources and marine ecosystems in the Convention Area and of the same fishery resources in adjacent waters under national jurisdiction, and, in collaboration with the Scientific Committee, establish procedures for the conduct of fishing for fishery resources for scientific purposes in the Convention Area; (e) cooperate and exchange data with members of the Commission and with relevant organisations, coastal States, territories and possessions; (f) promote compatibility of conservation and management measures in the Convention Area, adjacent areas under national jurisdiction and adjacent areas of high seas; (g) develop and establish effective monitoring, control, surveillance, compliance and enforcement procedures, including non-discriminatory market-related and trade-related measures; (h) develop processes in accordance with international law to assess flag State performance with respect to the implementation of their obligations under this Convention and adopt proposals, if appropriate, to promote implementation of such obligations; (i) adopt measures to prevent, deter and eliminate IUU fishing; (j) develop rules for cooperating non-Contracting Party status under this Convention; (k) review the effectiveness of the provisions of this Convention and the conservation and management measures adopted by the Commission in meeting the objective of this Convention; (l) supervise the organisational, administrative, financial and other internal affairs of the Organisation, including the relations among constituent bodies; (m) guide the Commission’s subsidiary bodies in their work; (n) adopt by consensus the budget of the Organisation, the financial regulations of the Organisation and any amendments thereto, and its rules of procedure, which may include procedures for taking and recording decisions intersessionall...

Functions of the Commission. 1. The Commission shall: (a) consider any matters relating to the implementation of this Agreement; (b) review within 2 years of entry into force of this Agreement and at least every 3 years thereafter the economic relationship and partnership among the Parties, consider any proposal to amend this Agreement or its Annexes and otherwise oversee the further elaboration of this Agreement; (c) supervise the work of all Committees and working groups established under this Agreement; (d) explore measures for the further expansion of trade and investment among the Parties and identify appropriate areas of commercial, industrial and technical cooperation between relevant enterprises and organisations of the Parties; and (e) consider any other matter that may affect the operation of this Agreement. 2. The Commission may: (a) establish committees and working groups, refer matters to any committee or working group for advice, and consider matters raised by any committee or working group; (b) further the implementation of the Agreement's objectives by approving any modifications1 of, inter alia: (i) the Schedules contained in Annex I (Elimination of Customs Duties), by accelerating the elimination of customs duties; (ii) the rules of origin established in Annex II (Specific Rules of Origin); or (iii) the lists of entities and covered goods and services and thresholds contained in Annexes 11.A and 11.C of the Chapter 11 (Government Procurement). (c) further the implementation of the Agreement's objectives through Implementing Arrangements; (d) seek to resolve differences or disputes that may arise regarding the interpretation or application of this Agreement; (e) seek the advice of non-governmental persons or groups on any matter falling within its responsibilities where this would help the Commission make an informed decision; and (f) take such other action in the exercise of its functions as the Parties may agree.
Functions of the Commission. The Commission shall, in accordance with its objective, exercise the following functions: (a) regularly review the state of fishery resources; (b) adopt conservation and management measures for fishery resources, including: (i) where necessary, for species belonging to the same ecosystem as, or associated with or dependent upon, fishery resources; (ii) to minimize impacts for fishing activities on living marine resources and their ecosystems; and (iii) where appropriate, on a subregional basis. (c) establish, in collaboration with other relevant international organizations, marine protected areas; (d) determine, when appropriate, total allowable catch, or total allowable level of effort, and where necessary, the nature and extent of participation in fishing activities; (e) adopt measures for the collection, submission, verification, storing and dissemination of data and information; (f) promote the development and use of electronic means to facilitate communication and exchange of data and information among Members; (g) establish such mechanisms as may be required for the purpose of reviewing the recommendations of any subsidiary body or working group and, as appropriate, transmitting them directly to the Commission for decision; (h) adopt measures and take actions to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing; (i) regularly review the implementation of decisions into national legislation; (j) elaborate multiannual management plans for the conservation and management of fishery resources, including at the sub-regional level; (k) establish appropriate cooperative mechanisms for effective monitoring, control, surveillance, compliance and enforcement, including sanctions such as non- discriminatory market-related measures; (l) promote and coordinate, and as appropriate, undertake scientific research and development activities; (m) promote programmes concerning aquaculture and coastal fisheries development and enhancement; (n) facilitate trade by promoting the implementation of internationally accepted sanitary and phytosanitary standards; (o) regularly review the socio-economic aspects of the fishing industry, including obtaining and evaluating economic and other data and information relevant to the work of the Commission; (p) promote, coordinate and, as appropriate, strengthen the development of institutional capacity and human resources, particularly through education, training and extension activities in areas of competence of...
Functions of the Commission. The functions of the Commission shall be to advise the Contracting Parties on: 4.1 Measures and arrangements to determine the long term safe yield of the water available from all potential water resources in the Okavango River Basin; 4.2 The reasonable demand for water from the consumers in the Okavango River Basin; 4.3 The criteria to be adopted in the conservation, equitable allocation and sustainable utilization of water resources in the Okavango River Basin; 4.4 The investigations, separately or jointly by the Contracting Parties, related to the development of any water resources in the Okavango River Basin, including the construction, operation and maintenance of any water works in connection therewith; 4.5 The prevention of the pollution of water resources and the control over aquatic weeds in the Okavango River Basin; 4.6 Measures that can be implemented by any one or all the Contracting Parties to alleviate short term difficulties resulting from water shortages in the Okavango River Basin during periods of drought, taking into consideration the availability of stored water and the water requirement within the territories of the respective Parties at that time; 4.7 Such other matters as may be determined by the Commission.

The Commission shall, in accordance with the principles set out in Article 3 and based on the best scientific information available and the advice of the Scientific Committee: (a) adopt conservation and management measures to ensure the long-term sustainability of the fisheries resources within the Convention Area, including the total allowable catch or total allowable level of fishing effort for those fisheries resources as the Commission may decide; (b) ensure that levels of total allowable catch or total allowable level of fishing effort are in accordance with the advice and recommendations of the Scientific Committee; (c) adopt, where necessary, conservation and management measures for species belonging to the same ecosystem or dependent upon or associated with the target stocks; (d) adopt, where necessary, management strategies for any fisheries resources and for species belonging to the same ecosystem or dependent upon or associated with the target stocks, as may be necessary to achieve the objective of this Convention; (e) adopt conservation and management measures to prevent significant adverse impacts on vulnerable marine ecosystems in the Convention Area, including but not limited to: (i) measures for conducting and reviewing impact assessments to determine if fishing activities would produce such impacts on such ecosystems in a given area; (ii) measures to address unexpected encounters with vulnerable marine ecosystems in the course of normal bottom fishing activities; and (iii) as appropriate, measures that specify locations in which fishing activities shall not occur; (f) determine the nature and extent of participation in existing fisheries, including through the allocation of fishing opportunities; (g) establish by consensus the terms and conditions for any new fisheries in the Convention Area and the nature and extent of participation in such fisheries, including through the allocation of fishing opportunities; and (h) agree on means by which the fishing interests of new Contracting Parties may be accommodated in a manner consistent with the need to ensure the long-term sustainability of the fisheries resources covered by this Convention. 2. The Commission shall adopt measures to ensure effective monitoring, control and surveillance, as well as compliance with and enforcement of the provisions of this Convention and measures adopted pursuant to this Convention. Functions of the Commission. (1) The Commission must— (a) seek and receive information about deaths within the remit of the Commission about which eligible family requests are made; and (b) receive information about other deaths within the remit of the Commission. (2) In cases where an eligible family request for information about a death is made, the Commission must keep the person who made the request informed about the progress of the request. (3) The Commission must prepare and provide reports in accordance with section 42 (the “reporting function”). (4) The Commission has the other functions conferred by the ICIR agreement. (5) The Commission must exercise its functions in accordance with the provisions of this Part and the ICIR agreement. (6) In particular, the Commission must exercise the reporting function in accordance with section 46 and Article 11 of the ICIR agreement. (1) If a person makes an eligible family request for information about a death within the remit of the Commission, the Commission must provide a written report to that person at the conclusion of its enquiries into that death (a “family report”). (2) A family report must contain only information the credibility of which has been established to the satisfaction of the Commission (3) The Commission must provide the Implementation and Reconciliation Group with a written report on— (a) patterns and themes it has identified from its work, and (b) the level of co-operation it has received in carrying out its work. (4) Subsection (3) does not prevent the Commission from providing the Implementation and Reconciliation Group with an interim written report on any of those matters before the Commission provides the Group with the report in accordance with that subsection. (5) The Commission must provide the Implementation and Reconciliation Group with the report under subsection (3) on the last day of the period of 5 years beginning with the day on which this section comes into force (or, if that day is not a working day, on the last working day before it). (6) A report provided to the Implementation and Reconciliation Group in accordance with subsection (3) or (4)— (a) must be given by the Commission only to the person chairing that Group; and (b) must not be otherwise disclosed by the Commission unless— (i) the report has been shared by the person chairing that Group in accordance with section 61 and that person has authorised the Commission to disclose the report, or (ii) the academic report commissioned in accordan...

Functions of the Commission. The Parties agree that the functions of the Commission shall include the following: a) to approve its rules of procedure and others it considers pertinent for the effective implementation of this Agreement; b) to supervise the administration, implementation, and compliance with the provisions of this Agreement by both Parties, and to recommend the adoption of suitable measures and mechanisms therefor; c) to review the list of goods in Annexes I and II of this Agreement and to recommend modifications , including the expansion of the list of goods; d) pursuant to Chapter VII (Dispute Settlement) of this Agreement, to examine and resolve the disputes referred to the Commission; e) to serve as a forum of consultation in relation to the application of safeguard measures contemplated under this Agreement; f) to recommend to the Parties any amendment to the provisions of the present Agreement which it deems necessary for the facilitation of the proper implementation thereof.; g) to establish the necessary technical groups to assist it in the performance of its functions and to support it in the effective implementation of the provisions of this Agreement; h) to periodically review the operation of this Agreement and prepare an evaluation report and to recommend to the Parties the measures it considers necessary to improve and expand trade relations between them; i) to promote business encounters between the private sector of the Parties with the aim of improving bilateral trade between them; and j) to carry out any other function established under this Agreement or those which may be agreed upon by the Parties to facilitate the effective implementation of this Agreement.

The function of the Commission shall be, in particular, to indicate its views and take decisions in the following matters: (a) The practical solution of technical and economic problems in accordance with this Treaty and the promotion of co-operation in water questions; (b) The planning of hydraulic works and the determination of methods of execution and maintenance; (c) The approval of technical designs, budgets and schedules of execution for hydraulic works and structures (bridges, dams, water-removal installations, etc.); (d) The supervision of, accounting for and acceptance of jointly executed works and measures; (e) The carrying out of on-site inspections for the purpose of verifying the execution of decisions, works and measures; (f) The formulation of proposals for facilitating frontier traffic with a view to the implementation of this Treaty; (g) Exploration, measuring operations and the preparation of studies in connexion with hydraulic construction work; (h) The settlement of disputed matters, including those relating to customs procedure; (i) The submission of proposals to the Governments of the Contracting Parties on matters relating to the preceding sub-paragraphs with a view to the possible amendment of this Treaty. 2. Routine matters of minor importance may be settled by agreement between the first plenipotentiaries. Such cases shall be notified to the Commission at its next meeting. 3. The two Governments may also enter into direct negotiations on matters lying within the competence of the Commission.
Functions of the Commission. (1) Within the sphere of activity defined in articles 1 and 2 of this Treaty, the Commission shall deal, in particular, with the following matters: (a) the practical solution of technical and economic problems and the promotion of cooperation in the execution of hydraulic works; (b) questions relating to specific cases of adverse effects on water conditions in accordance with article 3, paragraphs 1and 2, of the Treaty; (c) consideration of the need for measures in accordance with article 3, paragraph 4, and article 4, paragraph 1, of the Treaty; (d) the planning of hydraulic works, the determination of methods of execution of such works, and matters relating to their maintenance; (e) technical designs and budgets for hydraulic works, regulatory installations and other structures (bridges, dams, water-removal installations, etc.), schedules of execution for the structures, and inspection and acceptance of joint works and measures; (f) liability for costs in accordance with articles 8 and 9 of the Treaty; (g) verification of the implementation of decisions and execution of works and measures; (h) questions relating to the extraction of gravel and sand; (i) measures and works which are not to be carried out by the authorities of the Contracting States responsible for the administration of watercourses; (j) questions relating to the cleaning of frontier waters; (k) discussion of questions arising under article 2, paragraph 2, of the Treaty and their referral to the competent authorities; (1) measures and works which affect frontier waters but are carried out purely on a domestic basis;
