LENGTH-OF-SERVICE INCREASES. (a) Except as limited by Article 11.07, an employee whose salary falls between the minimum and the maximum of the salary range shall receive length of service increases along the salary scale on the following basis:
i) all regular employees hired prior to the signing of this Agreement will retain their previously established length of service date unless promoted as per item iii) below.
ii) new employees, hired subsequent to the signing of this Agreement, will have their length of service increase date for their entry job determined by reference to their date of hire.
iii) any regular employees who receive a promotion subsequent to the signing of this Agreement, will receive a salary adjustment in accordance with Article 11.08, and will have their length of service date adjusted to reflect their date of promotion.
(b) An employee in Salary Groups 2 and 3 will progress along the salary scale at six (6) month intervals until she/he reaches the maximum of the salary range. An employee in Salary Groups 4 to 13 will progress along the salary scale at one-year intervals except that an employee who is hired at or promoted to Step 1 will receive a length of service increase after six (6) months service. Such an employee will thereafter receive length of service increases at annual intervals until she/he reaches the maximum of the salary range. Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, length of service increase dates will be moved back to reflect the number of working days taken as leave without pay whenever such leave exceeds one calendar month.
(c) An employee whose salary is on a step of the salary range will receive a length of service increase to the next step of the range. If an employee is promoted into a job in Salary Groups 5 to 13, and the new salary falls below the mid-point between Step 1 and Step 2 of the new scale, the salary will be set to Step 1 of the range. If a promoted employee's salary falls at, or above, the mid-point between Step 1 and Step 2 of the new range, the salary will be set to Step 2 of the range. An employee whose salary falls between any other steps on the salary range will receive length of service increases which equal the dollar difference between the steps in which the employee's salary fell before the increase except that no employee will receive a length of service increase which would place her/him above the maximum salary for the job.
LENGTH-OF-SERVICE INCREASES. (a) Salary advances within the ranges will normally be achieved by reaching the length of service anniversary date. However, such increases may be withheld by the employee’s manager based on an assessment of the employee’s performance. Where an increase is to be withheld due to inadequate performance the manager will provide 1 month’s notice in writing to the employee affected, the officers of the Union, the appropriate Human Resources Representative, and the Ceridian PayCentre.
(b) Increases will not be granted to employees on probation. When in the opinion of the Employer the employee has fully restored his/her performance at some subsequent date, the employee shall regain his/her position within the salary scale on a non-retroactive basis.
(c) Only one length-of-service increase will be granted an employee while on sick leave. After returning to work, the employee will next be entitled to an increase on the same date he/she would have been entitled to an increase had the employee not been absent for sickness.
(d) Employees who have been on any other leave of absence in excess of 3 months during the length-of-service period will receive a prorated length-of-service increase; that is, for each completed month of service in his/her present job since the last length-of-service increase the employee will have 1/12 of the next length-of-service increase for that job added to his/her basic salary. Employees who are on such leaves of absence on their length-of-service date will receive a prorated increase as described above on the first of the month following their return to work.
(e) 1. All employees in service on 1 January 1984 shall retain their 1 May or 1 November length-of-service increase date except as otherwise provided.
LENGTH-OF-SERVICE INCREASES. Length of service increases shall be applicable to all regular employees in the classifications as listed in Appendix A, working four (4) or more hours per day.
LENGTH-OF-SERVICE INCREASES. (a) Salary advances within the ranges will normally be achieved by reaching the length of service anniversary date. However, such increases may be withheld by the employee’s manager based on an assessment of the employee’s performance. Where an increase is to be withheld due to inadequate performance the manager will provide one month’s notice in writing to the employee affected, the officers of the Union, the appropriate Human Resources Business Partner, and the Manager, Payroll.
(b) Employees will continue to receive length of service increases while on leave with the exception of long-term disability. Employees who return from long-term disability will be eligible to receive a length of service increase on their next anniversary date.
(c) Provided that the increased salary will not exceed the maximum of the salary range, salary increases for employees who are eligible shall be granted in the following manner:
1. An employee whose salary is equal to any step of his/her salary range will have his/her salary increased to the next higher step in that range.
2. An employee whose salary is between steps of his/her salary range will have his/her salary increased by an amount equal to the difference between the two steps between which his/her salary falls but where the increase would place his/her salary above the second higher step in the range beyond his/her salary prior to the application of the increase, his/her salary will only be increased to the second higher step.
(d) For the purposes of this article, an employee's anniversary date will be determined as follows:
1. For those employees who enter service or are promoted between the 1st and 15th fifteenth day (inclusive) of any month, the anniversary date will be the first day of that month plus one year.
2. For those employees who enter service or are promoted between the 16th and last day (inclusive) of any month, the anniversary date will be the first day of the next month plus one year

(b) Increases will not be granted to employees on probation. When in the opinion of the Employer, the employee has fully restored his/her performance at some subsequent date, he/she shall regain his/her position within the salary scale on a non-retroactive basis.
(c) Only one length-of-service increase will be granted an employee while he/she is on sick leave. After returning to work the employee will next be entitled to an increase on the same date he/she would have been entitled to an increase had he/she not been absent for sickness.
(d) Length-of-service salary increases will not be granted to employees who qualify for an increase during all other leaves of absence without pay in excess of three months. Upon return to work an employee will become eligible for the increase after qualifying in accordance with Subsection 4.04(f) below by combining his/her service prior to and following his/her leave of absence without pay.
(e) Except as limited in (a), (b) and (c) above, an employee whose salary falls between the minimum and the maximum of the salary range shall receive length of service increases along the salary scale on the following basis:

LENGTH-OF-SERVICE INCREASES. (a) Progression along the salary scale set out in Schedule “B” will be at twelve (12) month intervals.
(b) Salary advances in all salary ranges shall be automatic except that such increases may be withheld for cause, providing that two (2) months' notice of intent to withhold is given to the employee in writing, and a copy of such notice is mailed to the Union office. When, in the opinion of the Company, the employee has restored their performance fully at some subsequent date, they may regain their position within the salary scale on a non-retroactive basis.
(c) Automatic salary increases for employees who are eligible shall be an amount equivalent to a full step increase of the appropriate salary range, irrespective of the employee's position in the range, provided that no employee may receive an increase beyond the maximum steps of the range.
(d) Time worked continuously on different jobs having the same group shall be cumulative.
(e) Employees who are promoted will have their length-of-service date established on the anniversary date of their promotion.
(f) Part-time regular employees and Temporary employees shall accrue service for salary progression purposes on the basis of accumulated hours worked. (for part-time regular employees this will be inclusive of Annual Vacation, Sick Leave and absences due to Workers’ Compensation) at the same job group and salary step. For Temporary employees this is as long as breaks in service do not exceed ninety (90) consecutive calendar days, after which the terms of Article 18.04(b) apply. Such progression shall be determined by a quarterly review of accumulated hours and shall occur effective the first of the month in which the employee accumulated one thousand nine hundred fifty-eight (1,958) hours.
