NON-PAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE Sample Clauses

NON-PAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE. An employee who has worked for the school system for three (3) consecutive years may request a leave of absence without pay for one (1) year. Teachers returning from approved leaves of absence shall return with any career status and seniority that had been accrued prior to the commencement of the leave of absence. All time during a leave of absence shall not count toward career status or seniority. The district will notify the employee by certified mail on or before March 1 that notification of intent to return to duty must be received by the board by April 1. The teacher shall be placed in a position in his/her area of certification upon return to duty with the district. Such leave of absence may be granted for the following reasons: (July 2009)

NON-PAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Leaves of absence without pay may be granted to employees covered by this agreement who are full-time employees at the time the request for leave is made. Such leaves of absence may be granted for reasons approved by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Human Resource Director. Leaves of absence are not intended to replace a regular resignation procedure and will be granted only when such a leave of absence would be in the best interest of both the employee and the district as determined by the administration. Leaves of absence may not extend beyond a continuous period of one year. Insofar as possible, the definite period set for a leave shall commence and terminate with the beginning of a new semester.

NON-PAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The District recognizes that the personal welfare of its Employees may require occasional extended absences from duty. Non-paid leave shall not be granted to Employees with less than one (1) year of employment or to accept employment elsewhere. A full-time Employee who is eligible may request to receive up to thirty (30) work days of non-paid absence in a twelve (12) month rolling period. Non-paid leave of absence requests are subject to approval by the Chief Human Resources Officer Chief People and Culture Officer. For a non-paid leave of absence request to be considered, an Employee must submit the appropriate application to the Human Resources Department Office of Employee Success and Engagement. Except in cases of emergency, the required application form should be submitted at least a one (1) month prior to the start date of the non-paid leave request. Any exception to the one (1) month notice must be approved by the Chief Human Resources Officer Chief People and Culture Officer. By mutual agreement between the Employee and the District, the Employee may return to work earlier than originally approved. The request must be submitted in writing to the Human Resources Department Office of Employee Success and Engagement. An Employee returning to work following a non-paid leave of absence shall be granted step movement on the salary schedule for the following school year if the Employee was paid for one-half (1/2) or more of the contracted days in the school year in which the non-paid leave of absence was granted. Failure to return at the end of an approved non-paid leave shall result as a voluntary resignation recommendation to the Board of Education.
NON-PAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Leaves of absence without pay may be granted to employees who have completed at least one year of satisfactory service to the District upon making application and receiving approval of the Board. Each approved leave of absence shall be of the shortest possible duration. Leaves of absence without pay may be granted to employees for up to a maximum of one full year, according to the following conditions:

Application for said leave shall be in writing, and the Employer's permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. An employee who is granted a leave of absence shall not suffer any loss of seniority. The Employer may, in its discretion, extend a leave of absence at the request of an employee.
