Paid Absence. A. Teachers shall be granted 18 leave days per year (14 days for sick leave and 4 days of personal leave for business that cannot be conducted outside the school day) to be absent from work while receiving compensation from the corporation. These days may not be used to extend Board approved leaves granted under any other clause in this contract or to extend school vacations, recesses and holidays. Any teacher requiring more than two consecutive personal days or requiring a personal day before or after a vacation or on a snow make-up day shall submit a request to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for prior approval. In establishing these days, the Board and the Association recognize the need for the teacher to be present with students and encourage teachers to use such days in a judicious manner. Any unused sick leave or personal leave days shall accumulate as sick days at the end of the school year. Teachers who have accumulated less than one hundred eighty (180) days will accumulate all unused sick leave days or personal leave days at the end of each school year. Teachers who have accumulated greater than one hundred eighty (180) days will continue to receive 18 leave days annually which will be utilized first for any family or personal illness or personal business, but any unused days will be purchased by the School Corporation according to Article IV, Section 2. Any teacher needing more than 18 days of absence in one year may be asked to provide verification of need with the Human Resources Office.
B. A teacher may transfer up to ten (10) days of accumulated sick leave earned from another school corporation, beginning the second year of employment in the School Corporation and in each succeeding year, until the number of accumulated sick leave days to which said teacher was entitled in the last place of employment shall be exhausted.
C. A written account of each category of accumulated days of paid leave shall be made available in “Employee Access” for all teachers.
D. Days held in the sick leave bank shall be considered to be paid days of absence under the definitions set above. The bank will be administered by a committee of three (3) teachers appointed by the Association and one (1) administrator appointed by the Superintendent under the following criteria and subject to the following conditions and limitations:

Paid Absence. During the term of this Employment Contract, the ------------ Employee shall be entitled each year to a combination of vacation days, personal days and sick days, which shall accrue at the rate of 1.25 days for each month of employment of the Employee, totaling up to a maximum of three (3) weeks duration in any given twelve (12) month period, during which time their compensation shall be paid in full. This excludes company paid holidays.
Paid Absence. ALLOWANCE DAYS
25.01 A seniority employee shall become eligible for a paid absence allowance credit as hereinafter defined, per calendar year as follows: First year (hired after June 30) – 1 day First year (hired before June 30) - 2 days Up to 4 years - 2 days At the commencement of the fifth year or more years - 3 days An employee must receive prior approval from his supervisor two (2) calendar days prior to the date he wishes to take his paid absence allowance day(s). The Company will permit employees to take PAA days with less than 2 days’ notice when staffing levels permit. Employees will be allowed to schedule paid absence allowance days consecutively, or separately. Employees who utilize fewer PAA days in a calendar year than they are allocated will receive pay for such unused PAA days. Such payment will be made in the month of January. There shall be no carry-over of any unused paid absence allowance from one (1) calendar year to the next. Paid absence allowance shall be paid at the appropriate straight time hourly rate.
Paid Absence. In the cases mentioned below, the employee will be entitled to absence with retention of salary during the time set for each case, unless the absence is not necessary because the event in question took place elsewhere and/or without the employee being present, and provided he/she reported the absence, as far as possible two days in advance, while submitting any evidence of the absence: A On the death of the life partner, parents (in-law), children (also xxxxxx or adopted children). From the day of death up to and including the day of cremation or burial. B On the death of grandparents, brother, sister or grandchild of the employee or the employee’s life partner. 2 days.

Paid Absence. In the cases listed below, the employee is entitled to paid absence for the time stipulated in each case, unless the absence is not necessary because the event in question took place elsewhere and/or outside the presence of the employee and provided he has given notice of the absence two days in advance if possible, submitting any supporting documents: A In the event of the death of the life partner, parents (or parents-in-law), children (or xxxxxx children, or adoptive children, or step children). From the day of death until the day of cremation or burial. B In the event of the death of grandparents, brothers, sisters or grandchildren of (the life partner of) the employee. 2 days. C In the event of the intended marriage of the employee. 1 day. D In the event of the marriage of the employee. 2 days. E In the event of the marriage of a parent, child (or xxxxxx child, or adoptive child, or step child), grandchild, brother or sister of the employee or of the life partner. 1 day. F When the life partner gives birth. One time the weekly working hours. G In the event of the 25, 40, 50 and 60 year wedding anniversary of the employee, his parents, parents-in-law or grandparents. 1 day. H In the event of the 25, 40 and 50 year service anniversary of the employee, 1 day. I In the event of the ordination of a son or for the taking of 1 day. J If the employee is briefly prevented from performing his work due to the fulfilment of an obligation personally imposed on him by or under the law through no fault of his own, provided that this fulfilment cannot take place in his free time and with deduction of any compensation which the employee might have received from third parties. For a period of time to be determined in accordance with the principle of fairness by the employer, but up to a maximum of two days. K For visits to the doctor, dentist or specialist. The time required for this, if the visit cannot take place during the employee's free time and insofar as the employee cannot claim compensation from third parties for the loss of income. Paid Absence. Section 1: Bereavement Leave—Any employee who is absent from work solely because of the death and funeral of his spouse, child, step-child, grandchild, parent, brother, sister, or grandparent, current mother-in-law, father-in-law and significant other1 may be granted time off without loss of pay up to a maximum of two (2) consecutive tours of duty for each absence. Such time will not be charged to sick leave or vacation time. A tour of duty shall be twenty-four
Paid Absence. The Consultant shall be entitled to receive full payment from the Company for up to 30 business days per year, as well as all Jewish holidays, despite the Service Provider’s absence on such days.
