Safety and Protective Clothing. 6.3.1 When a worker is engaged in any work which might involve a hazard to the health or safety of the worker, the employer shall provide clothing or equipment appropriate for the protection of the worker from such hazard. Should a worker fail to utilise the safety devices so provided, it shall be deemed to constitute "good cause" as in the meaning of subclause 6.11.1.
6.3.2 No female cleaner shall be required to undertake the cleaning of mens’ toilets while they are in use.
6.3.3 Safety devices shall be provided for workers required to work more than 3 metres from the ground, floor, or verandah. The employer shall insist upon safety devices being used for all work performed more than 3 metres from the ground, floor or verandah. Should a worker fail to utilise the safety devices so provided it shall be deemed to constitute "good cause" as in the meaning of subclause 6.11.1.
6.3.4 Safety and protective items to be supplied to workers, which remain the property of the employer, shall include the following:
(i) rubber gloves where a worker is employed in cleaning toilets or needs his/her hands protected for medical reasons;
(ii) gumboots where a worker is required to wear them in the course of his/her employment. Where gumboots are issued to a worker the employer shall ensure that they are in a clean and hygienic condition;
(iii) raincoats and leggings shall be made available where these are required by a worker in the course of his/her employment;
(iv) overalls specifically where they are required for a worker attending to the operation of boilers;
(v) overalls (in addition to those supplied under (iv) above) where a worker is required to attend to the operation of swimming pools;
(vi) effective ear protectors where a worker operates, or works near, noisy motorised equipment;
(vii) transformers shall be supplied at all times where a worker is required to do wet machine scrubbing or wet machine suction drying. This does not include such operations as carpet-shampooing and spray buffing.
6.3.5 All electric polishing and scrubbing machines and vacuum cleaners with their leads shall be checked by a registered electrician at intervals not exceeding three months.
6.3.6 The employer shall have the right in accordance with the provisions of 6.11.2 to deduct from wages and all other monies due to the worker at the date of termination of employment the reasonable cost, after allowing for fair wear and tear, of any articles of clothing supplied or paid for by the emplo...
Safety and Protective Clothing. 4.5.1 An employee required to work outside in wet weather shall be provided with a suitable raincoat and leggings or other suitable weather protective clothing such as a woollen jacket, which shall remain the property of the employer.
4.5.2 An employee required to work in water or muddy conditions shall be provided with gumboots which shall remain the property of the employer.
4.5.3 The employer shall provide one pair of steel toe capped safety boots on commencement of duties and provide a replacement pair on a fair wear and tear basis provided this is not less than 12 months after the previous replacement. An employee whose employment terminates before the completion of 12 months following the supply of boots shall either return the boots or refund to the employer one-twelfth of the cost for each month not served.
4.5.4 An employee operating or working near noisy motorised equipment shall be provided with effective ear protectors.
4.5.5 Gloves shall be provided to an employee working amongst trees and shrubs of a prickly nature.
4.5.6 The provisions of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and subsequent amendments will apply.
Safety and Protective Clothing. Equipment
1. The Agency, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, agrees to provide all appropriate safety and protective clothing, and equipment to employees during the performance of their assigned duties.
2. An employee who, after evaluation from an optometrist, is required to wear prescription eyeglasses and is required to wear these eyeglasses in order to safely accomplish their assigned duties, may provide their prescription to the Agency who will then provide the employee with one pair of prescription safety glasses or goggles at no personal expense to the employee, but not to exceed the amount allotted by the Agency. Employees will be responsible for paying any amount which exceeds the allowance provided by the Agency.
3. Employees will be issued protective footwear that conforms to OSHA standards as outlined in 29 CFR 1915.156.
Safety and Protective Clothing. Safety and Protective Clothing. 35.1 Each employee required to wear a uniform shall be given the option once per calendar year to continue to receive such uniforms from the City, and to have the uniforms cleaned at City expense consistent with past practice. Employees electing to receive uniforms from the City shall be allotted 13 (thirteen) pairs of work pants, 11 (eleven) work shirts and 2 (two) work jackets and liners. In lieu of that option, employees will have the option of receiving a uniform allowance in the amount of $510.00 (2% increase) per fiscal year, and shall be responsible for the purchase and cleaning of their own uniforms. Uniforms purchased shall be consistent with those provided by the uniform company. In addition, the City shall provide protective clothing for each employee, winter bib/coveralls and a winter coat (replaced as needed) consistent with past practice. The City will also provide winter boots at a cost not to exceed $200.00 per employee and safety boots at a cost not to exceed $200.00 per employee. Winter boots will be replaced every three (3) years or as needed. Winter coats will be provided on an as needed basis at a maximum cost of $150.00. Cover-Alls shall be provided as needed at a maximum cost of $150.00 every 3 years.
35.2 The City shall provide each employee who requests it a back brace designed to provide support and prevent back injury while performing manual labor. Each employee who is provided a back brace will be expected to use it whenever the employee is involved in an activity which the employee believes will produce significant strain on the back. The parties expect that the cost of each brace will be approximately $20.00.
35.3 The City shall pay full coverage of cleaning and maintaining work uniforms. Employees shall be furnished personal equipment and lockers.
35.4 A Safety Committee composed of an individual from each Public Works Division and one (1) supervisory personnel shall be appointed. Said Committee shall appoint its own chairperson and meet regularly to review safety practices. It may draw up safety codes that both parties to this Agreement agree to enforce after approval by the City Manager.
Safety and Protective Clothing. 21.01 The Corporation shall make available when the job requires: rain wear, welding gloves, rubber boots, tar gloves and hard hats. The Corporation may require the employee to sign for the equipment to replace any lost items (considering their condition) and to return any item to the Corporation when not in use.
21.02 The Corporation shall provide gloves to employees assigned to garbage collection and disposal.
21.03 The Corporation will pay a safety boot allowance as follows: One hundred and seventy-five dollars ($175.00) per year to each Regular employee whose duty requires safety boots. The payment for safety boots shall be made before July 31st of each contract year for the upcoming contract year. This amount will be paid by direct deposit. Upon evidence to the Treasurer of a receipt for the purchase of safety boots prior to December 1st of each contract year, such safety boot allowance will be treated as prescribed by the Canada Income Tax Act.
21.04 The employer shall provide employees in the Recreation Department and the Public Works Department with coveralls as required at the discretion of the employees supervisor.

Safety and Protective Clothing. A. Safety Council
1. A Safety Council shall be established consisting of three (3) representatives ap- pointed by the Superintendent and three (3) employee representatives appointed by the Association.
2. The Safety Council shall be authorized to establish study committees for specific projects, training, workshops and other related matters regarding the effective operation of the Linden School District.
3. The Safety Council shall be advisory in nature. The Superintendent shall consider all recommendations submitted to him by the council and shall transmit those that he feels should come to the attention of the Board.
B. Clothing
1. Employees shall be entitled to the following: Any combination of 2 pants, 2 long sleeve shirts, 2 short sleeve shirts. 5 "T" shirts 1 small first aid kit Rain Slicker/Rain Pants/Galoshes (every three (3) years) 1 pair safety glasses (nonprescription)
2. Uniforms will be provided by September 1 of each year provided the employee has presented the necessary information to administration by April 30.
3. Custodians and maintenance workers may substitute for uniform items listed above, a jacket of equivalent value to one uniform, provided they have sufficient uniform items to wear; and should the cost be more than the equivalent value, they will be permitted to pay the difference.
4. The Board will provide a yearly allocation of $150.00 to all employees in this unit for the purchase any of the following: a heavy coat, work shoes, and overalls. The Association and Board shall mutually agree upon the items.
5. Employees must wear a complete set of uniforms including identification that they are Board employees. The Board shall provide such identification to each employee.
6. The Board shall provide all employees with respirators as required by State and Federal law depending on their specific work assignment.
C. The Board shall make available clean and adequate wash and toilet facilities.
