Short Term Union Leave. The Employer agrees to grant time off without pay in an amount not to exceed thirty (30) working days in any one (1) calendar year to enable employees with at least one (1) year's seniority to attend Union conventions and education classes. Not more than three (3) employees will be allowed such leave at any time and the number of workdays for any one (1) employee shall not exceed ten (10) in any one (1) calendar year. Requests for such leave must be given to the employee's immediate supervisor in writing fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of the time the leave is to commence, and shall specify the length of leave time desired. Time off pursuant to this Section shall not cause any disruption of the Employer's operations due to a lack of available employees nor shall it cause a conflict which would necessitate overtime pay for an employee filling the vacant position created by such time off. Leave time granted under this Section may be canceled if the presence of the employee on leave is required due to the existence of emergency conditions in the Department or the County.
Short Term Union Leave. A leave of absence for union professional opportunity of not more than five (5) working days shall be granted upon request to no more than four (4) regular status employees during each contract year, provided at least ten (10) working days notice is given.
Short Term Union Leave. Up to three (3) members of the bargaining committee shall be granted unpaid union leave of up to thirty (30) calendar days per contract year provided at least ten (10) working days of advance notice is given. The College recognizes that emergency situations may occur when the ten (10) working day notice cannot be given. In that event, the union leave shall not be arbitrarily denied.
Short Term Union Leave. Upon receipt of written notice from the Union as far in advance as possible, the Employer will grant a leave of absence without loss of seniority or service to attend Union conventions, conferences or to attend to Union business to a maximum of forty (40) working days in any one calendar year within each bargaining unit at each work site. The forty (40) working day limit shall not include PEL absences or absences to attend other Union education programs, which shall be limited to a total of forty (40) working days. The limit does not apply to the Union Chairperson. Where an employee is on approved union leave the employer will continue to pay all wages and benefits. The employer will then submit a detailed invoice for such wages and benefits paid to the affected employee and any other employee costs associated with those wages to the Local Union office for reimbursement.
Short Term Union Leave. Upon written request of the Employer by the Union, the Employer may grant a leave of absence up to thirty (30) days without pay and without loss of seniority or benefits, to an employee acting as a representative of the Union in connection with Union activities. Such requests shall be made not less than seven (7) days before the leave is to commence.
Short Term Union Leave. Any employee shall be allowed time off without pay for Union business. The employee will remain on Company’s payroll and benefits and the union will reimburse the Company for the wages. The short-term union leave is subject to the following conditions: Not more than three (3) employees from a department can be absent on Union leave at one time, and not more than three (3) employees in total can be absent on such leave at one time.
(i) No employee can take more than twenty (20) working days of short-term union leave in a calendar year. This limit shall not apply to members of the bargaining committee; this time must be both reasonable and related to the bargaining process.
(ii) An employee may take up to an additional twenty (20) unpaid days under the provisions of Article 23.01. Such days shall not be subject to the restrictions of Article 23.01 (e).
Short Term Union Leave. For attendance at union sponsored activities. Such leave shall be unpaid and shall not exceed a total of five (5) working days in a calendar year. The employee shall provide the Employer with as much advance notice as possible, but in no case less than two (2) weeks notice, of any request for such leave. No more than a maximum of five (5) employees may be on union leave at any time and the Employer may reject such requests based on work requirements, provided that approval for such leave will not be withheld unreasonably.
Short Term Union Leave. Any requests for short term union release must be submitted to the appropriate Superintendent one (1) week prior to the date of the leave. The approval of these leaves is at the discretion of the Superintendent. All costs associated with short term union leave requests will be borne by the bargaining unit and will come at no cost to the Board.
Short Term Union Leave. For the purpose of all employees attending local, state or national union meetings, the District will provide a combined total of no more than forty (40) hours of leave without loss of pay. If a sub is required the union will subsidize 50% of the sub’s pay.
Short Term Union Leave. It is further understood the Employer agrees to grant the necessary time off, without discrimination or loss of seniority rights and without pay, not to exceed five (5) days per request, to any Employee designated by the Union to attend a labor convention or serve on other official Union business, provided two (2) weeks written notice is given to the Employer, by the Union, specifying length of time off (“Short Term Union Leave”). The Union agrees that, in making its request for time off for Union activities, due consideration shall be given to the number of employees affected in order that there shall be no disruption of the Employer’s operations due to lack of available Employees. Should the Employer believe that the Union request disrupts operations, the Employer retains the right to notify the Union that the request has been rejected, and discuss with the Union the Employer’s reasoning. At the request of the Union, and consistent with the Employer’s need to provide proper coverage, a maximum of one (1) Employee per city (two (2) Employees in New York) at a time shall be granted Short Term Union Leave. All provisions of this section (7) can be waived or modified for a specified individual by written mutual agreement.
