Short Term Union Leave. The Employer agrees to grant time off without pay in an amount not to exceed thirty (30) working days in any one (1) calendar year to enable employees with at least one (1) year's seniority to attend Union conventions and education classes. Not more than three (3) employees will be allowed such leave at any time and the number of workdays for any one (1) employee shall not exceed ten (10) in any one (1) calendar year. Requests for such leave must be given to the employee's immediate supervisor in writing fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of the time the leave is to commence, and shall specify the length of leave time desired. Time off pursuant to this Section shall not cause any disruption of the Employer's operations due to a lack of available employees nor shall it cause a conflict which would necessitate overtime pay for an employee filling the vacant position created by such time off. Leave time granted under this Section may be canceled if the presence of the employee on leave is required due to the existence of emergency conditions in the Department or the County.
Short Term Union Leave. A leave of absence for union professional opportunity of not more than five (5) working days shall be granted upon request to no more than four (4) regular status employees during each contract year, provided at least ten (10) working days notice is given.
Short Term Union Leave. Up to three (3) members of the bargaining committee shall be granted unpaid union leave of up to thirty (30) calendar days per contract year provided at least ten (10) working days of advance notice is given. The College recognizes that emergency situations may occur when the ten (10) working day notice cannot be given. In that event, the union leave shall not be arbitrarily denied.
Short Term Union Leave. Upon receipt of written notice from the Union as far in advance as possible, the Employer will grant a leave of absence without loss of seniority or service to attend Union conventions, conferences or to attend to Union business to a maximum of forty (40) working days in any one calendar year within each bargaining unit at each work site. The forty (40) working day limit shall not include PEL absences or absences to attend other Union education programs, which shall be limited to a total of forty (40) working days. The limit does not apply to the Union Chairperson. Where an employee is on approved union leave the employer will continue to pay all wages and benefits. The employer will then submit a detailed invoice for such wages and benefits paid to the affected employee and any other employee costs associated with those wages to the Local Union office for reimbursement.
Short Term Union Leave. Upon written request of the Employer by the Union, the Employer may grant a leave of absence up to thirty (30) days without pay and without loss of seniority or benefits, to an employee acting as a representative of the Union in connection with Union activities. Such requests shall be made not less than seven (7) days before the leave is to commence.
Short Term Union Leave. For attendance at union sponsored activities. Such leave shall be unpaid and shall not exceed a total of sixty (60) working days for all employees in a calendar year. The employee shall provide the Employer with as much advance notice as possible of any request for such leave. No more than a maximum of ten (10) employees may be on union leave at any time and the Employer may reject such requests based on work requirements, provided that ap- proval for such leave will not be withheld unreasonably.
Short Term Union Leave. An employee shall be allowed time off without pay for Union business. The employee will remain on Company’s payroll and benefits and the union will reimburse the Company for the wages. The short-term union leave is subject to the following conditions: Number of Employees Not more than three (3) employees from a department can be absent on Union leave at one time, and not more than three (3) employees in total can be absent on such leave at one time. Maximum Leave
Short Term Union Leave. Subject to operational needs, the employer agrees that leave of absence with pay along with maintenance of seniority rights, and benefits, shall be given to any designated employee for union business; such leave of absences to be granted for a period not to exceed six (6) months as per union request in writing. Permission for an employee to attend to union business will be conveyed within forty-eight (48) hours of receipt of request, except in the case of leave for one (1) week or longer, in which case the permission will be granted within seven (7) working days of receipt of request. The employer will invoice the union for all costs associated with the union leave, including the employer’s share of benefits. The union shall reimburse the employer within thirty (30) days of receipt of the invoice. An employee on such leave shall have the right to return to their job on expiration of the leave. If the job has been abolished during absence, the employee shall have rights pursuant to Article 7.
Short Term Union Leave. Two Employees may make a request to the Employer for a Leave of Absence without pay to attend Union conventions, conferences, training, or other Union business authorized by the Union in writing. Only one Employee at a time may take a leave of one (1) week or more, to a maximum of two (2) weeks, and the total days leave for both Employees will not be greater than 15 scheduled working days. The Union must give the Employer fourteen (14) days advance written notice of the requested Leave of Absence. The fourteen (14) days advance notice may be waived in situations where such advance notice is not possible. Approval for such Leaves of Absence shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Short Term Union Leave. It is further understood the Employer agrees to grant the necessary time off, without discrimination or loss of seniority rights and without pay, not to exceed five (5) days per request, to any Employee designated by the Union to attend a labor convention or serve on other official Union business, provided two (2) weeks written notice is given to the Employer, by the Union, specifying length of time off (“Short Term Union Leave”). The Union agrees that, in making its request for time off for Union activities, due consideration shall be given to the number of employees affected in order that there shall be no disruption of the Employer’s operations due to lack of available Employees. Should the Employer believe that the Union request disrupts operations, the Employer retains the right to notify the Union that the request has been rejected, and discuss with the Union the Employer’s reasoning. At the request of the Union, and consistent with the Employer’s need to provide proper coverage, a maximum of one (1) Employee per city (two (2) Employees in New York) at a time shall be granted Short Term Union Leave. All provisions of this section (7) can be waived or modified for a specified individual by written mutual agreement.
