Sick Leave Sell Back. Each employee who uses three (3) or fewer sick leave days in the preceding year July 1 – June 30th, may sell back the equivalent of five (5) days of their preceding year’s schedule of unused sick leave at the rate of 70% of that employees hourly step wage, not to exceed $90 a day. Each employee who uses five (5) or fewer sick leave days in the preceding year July 1 – June 30th, may sell back up to three (3) days of their preceding year’s schedule of unused sick leave at the rate of 60% of that employees step wage, not to exceed $70 a day. Employees, who elect to take part in the sell back of unused sick leave for the prior school year, must notify NCSD no later than June 30th of the current school year and must select a payout for July 31st or Jan 15th of the next calendar year. To participate, the employee must have a remaining balance of no less than 5 days in their sick leave balance after the sell back is completed.

Sick Leave Sell Back a. After sixty (60) days have been accrued, an employee may exercise the option to receive remuneration for unused sick leave accumulated in the previous year, at the rate equal to one (1) day for each four (4) full days accrued in excess of sixty (60) days. Days for which remuneration has been received shall be deducted from the accrued leave at the rate of four (4) days for every one (1) day’s monetary compensation. b. At the time of separation from District employment due to retirement or death, remuneration shall be granted at a rate equal to one (1) day’s current compensation for each four (4) days of accrued sick leave. For the purpose of remuneration at retirement or death, total accrued sick leave shall be limited to 180 days.
Sick Leave Sell Back. All employees with one hundred (100) unused sick days, or more, may elect to sell back to the District up to eight (8) days of unused sick leave once annually. The amount will be calculated at fifty percent (50%) of the employee’s regular pay per day. The employee will receive this compensation in the form of a cash payout.
Sick Leave Sell Back. In addition to the program above, an employee with twenty-three (23) or more years of service maintaining seventy percent (70%) of his earned sick leave may elect to sell back eighty (80) hours of sick leave earned during the previous year for a three (3) year period. Any employee who subscribed to the sick leave sell-back plan as provided in 21.12(A) of this section shall have their accumulated days of unused sick leave for which they would be entitled to be paid reduced for each day of sick leave they sell back to the City under section 21.12. C. Any full-time employee who during the employee’s career was off on sick leave due to an extended illness or injury, may make a request to the Safety-Service Director to not consider sick leave time used for any such extended illness or injury against the employee’s percentage of earned sick leave, for the purposes of section 21.12(A) of this section.

Sick Leave Sell Back. A yearly incentive of (4) four days (one (1) per quarter) sell back will be granted to full time drivers not using sick days. A fifth day of sick leave may be sold back provided that the employee has not used any sick leave, personal leave, or any unpaid leaves of absence during the preceding contract year. The decision to sellback must be made to the transportation director on the necessary form, and submitted for approval with the next time sheet following the end of the quarter or at the end of the year.

To be eligible for sick leave sell-back, an employee cannot have taken more than the following number of hours off on sick leave during the six pay-periods from December 26th through June 25th, or June 26th through December 25th: • A fifty-six (56) or forty-eight (48) hour employee must have taken off less than or equal to forty-eight (48) hours of sick leave in the preceding six (6) pay periods. • A forty-five (45) hour employee must have taken off less than or equal to eighteen (18) hours of sick leave in the preceding six (6) pay periods. Employees wishing to sell-back sick leave and who meet the eligibility criteria may sell-back up to one week of sick time in each of the six-month periods (56 hour employees who are eligible may sell back up to 28 hours twice per year, 48 hour employees may sell back 24 hours, and 45 hour employees may sell-back 22.5 hours). Employees wishing to sell-back sick leave must submit their request in writing to the Fire Chief by July 20th for the pay period from December 26th through June 25th, and by January 20th for the period from June 26th through December 25th. Sick leave used during workers compensation will not be calculated as sick time used for purposes of sell-back.
