Special Pay Practices. A. Temporary Supervisor Pay: In the unforeseen event an employee is assigned by the Sheriff or his designee to assume the duties of a shift supervisor for two (2) hours or more, he/she shall be paid at the lowest step of the higher rank that provides at least a 5% pay increase, for the duration of the assignment. Preference shall be given to employees on current promotional eligibility lists, then FTOs. No employee shall be assigned such duty nor permitted to assume such duty until he/she has completed probation. This is intended for unforeseen events not lasting longer than one (1) shift. For longer periods, an employee assigned by the Sheriff or his designee in an acting capacity to work in a higher job classification than the employee’s regular classification, shall be paid at the lowest step of the higher classification that provides at least a 5% pay increase, for the duration of the assignment.

Special Pay Practices. A. Work Out of Classification Employees may not be required to perform duties which are not prescribed by their job description for more than five (5) days in any fifteen (15) day calendar period unless the duties reasonably relate to those fixed by the position. An employee required to perform duties with those prescribed by their job description for more than five (5) days in any fifteen (15) day calendar period shall be compensated in such amount as will reasonably reflect the duties required for the entire period of out-of-class work. Claims for Work out of Classification shall be processed in accordance with Personnel Commission Rule 550 and/or California Education Code 88010. The District and the Commission may provide for an upward adjustment in salary for any period of time less than five (5) days.

Call Back Pay Whenever an employee who is scheduled on a minimum 40-hour workweek is unexpectedly ordered by his/her department head or designated management representative to return to work following the termination of his/her normal work shift or workweek and departure from his/her work location, the employee shall receive a payment of four hours' pay at the rate of time and one-half of the employee's regular rate of pay. Work performed in excess of four hours will be compensated for in accordance with the provisions of Article 11, Overtime. If an employee should complete work required, leave the work location, and subsequently be recalled during the four-hour period being compensated for as a result of the initial call back, no additional compensation will be paid until four hours have been worked by the employee, i.e., there shall be no pyramiding of time and one-half pay as a result of call back. If an employee's work schedule must be altered to accommodate operational requirements on any scheduled work day and the employee is required to report for work up to two hours earlier than his/her normal shift starting time, this shall be considered an early shift start and not a call back. Employees assigned to an early shift start will be allowed to work to the end of their normal shift.

The following classifications shall receive the same bonus amounts for Relief Bonus, Cogeneration Hydroelectric Operation/Maintenance Bonus, and Shift Differential as is paid to classifications in bargaining Unit 401, Plant Operating Engineers. -- 7202 Assistant Chief Stationary Engineer -- 7203 Chief Stationary Engineer -- 7227 Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator Supervisor All other classes in the unit shall receive the same amounts for the above bonuses as are paid classes in bargaining Unit 411, Building Trades and Skilled Craftsmen.
Special Pay Practices. Upon execution of this contract, any permanent, full-time employee in this unit assigned regularly scheduled periods of standby service at off-duty times pursuant to the County Code, shall receive four dollars ($4.00) per hour bonus, but not to exceed a maximum of three hundred hours per month total without approval of department management. This section will apply to all County Department’s where all members of this bargaining unit are employed. Should any other bargaining unit receive an increase in stand-by pay over $4.00 per hour during the term of this MOU, PPOA Bargaining Unit 614 requests a comparable increase over the current hourly rate of $4.00 for stand-by pay. This provision shall expire on September 30, 2021.
