Duties of the SRO. The SRO shall only perform the duties described on Exhibit C, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. The City shall provide each SRO with a copy of this Agreement, including Exhibit C, and shall require the SRO to provide a signed acknowledgement that he/she has received and reviewed this Agreement. Upon request, the City shall provide the District with a copy of said signed acknowledgement.

Duties of the SRO. The SRO shall perform all duties set forth in this Agreement, as well as any other duties described on Exhibit B, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
Duties of the SRO. 1. The SRO shall work during the hours school is in session and coordinate his/her schedule with the school principal or his/her designee of the SRO's assigned school. When schools are closed due to in-service training, the SRO, if invited by the school administrators, may attend the in-service training or use those hours for SRO administrative duties. 2. The SRO shall wear City-approved uniforms and drive a marked patrol unit. In the event the SRO is authorized to wear civilian clothes for a specific event, the SRO shall comply with a dress code that is determined and approved by the principal of the SRO's assigned school and SRO sergeant. 3. Subject to the SRO's discretion and law enforcement authority, the SRO shall take appropriate law enforcement action as requested by school administrators. The SRO may also take such other appropriate law enforcement action as may be required by law or Fort Xxxxxxx Police Services (FCPS) policy and must then notify the school administrator as soon as practicable of any violations or actions which impact school discipline, order or safety, or such other violations and actions as the District reasonably requests be reported. This may include interviewing suspects and victims of criminal violations, issuing summonses, and addressing traffic concerns. Should it become necessary to conduct formal law enforcement interviews with the students, the SRO shall adhere to District policy, regulations and guidelines, FCPS policy, and legal requirements with regard to such interviews. 4. The SRO shall assist other SROs or law enforcement agencies in conducting investigations when requested or when required. 5. The SRO shall develop teaching expertise and assist faculty in conducting specialized classes on such topics as the role of policing in the community, search and seizure, traffic laws, crime prevention, victims' rights, community involvement, and youth programs. In addition, the SRO shall encourage and participate in discussion during classes to establish rapport with students. Any additional areas of instruction or SRO participation in school activities must be mutually agreed upon by FCPS, the SRO Supervisor, and the principal or his/her designee of the affected school. 6. The SRO shall seek permission, advice, and guidance from school administrators prior to implementing any program within the school. 7. Duties of the SRO. The duties and responsibilities of the SRO include, but are not limited to the following: (1) Patrol North Kitsap Schools within the city limits of Poulsbo, Kingston High School, Kingston Middle School (with a valid interlocal agreement between Kitsap County Sheriff, CITY, and NKSD) and surrounding areas in order to identify, investigate, deter and prevent crimes, especially those incidents involving weapons, youth violence, harassment, gang involvement, drugs or similar activities, with priority given to the high schools; (2) Act as a liaison between the NKSD administrators and CITY; (3) Wear the official police uniform, including firearm, with civilian attire being worn on occasions mutually agreed upon by the school district, the SRO, and their immediate supervisor; (4) Establish and maintain a working rapport with the school administration and staff; (5) Assist in providing school-based security during the regular-school day and assist in the promotion of a safe and orderly environment at NKSD. (The SRO, however, shall not act as a disciplinarian. If the SRO is confronted with a non-criminal violation such as a school rule violation, the SRO will assist only for the purpose of providing security for the school staff member(s) charged with enforcing school rules. In the absence of an authorized school district employee, the SRO may refer the matter to school administration); (6) Assist in mediating disputes on campuses, including working with students to help them solve disputes in a non-violent manner; (7) Act as a resource person in the area of law-enforcement education at the request of staff, speaking to classes on the law, search and seizure, drugs, motor vehicle laws, etc; (8) Maintain an activity log to include all SRO activities such as meetings, conferences, extra-curricular activities, events, arrests, investigations, and training; (9) Provide a monthly report to CITY Police Department and the NKSD; and (10) Perform other duties as mutually agreed upon by the NKSD, the SRO, and the SRO’s immediate supervisor provided the duty is legitimately and reasonably related to the SRO program as described in this Agreement and is consistent with Federal and State law; local ordinances; and CITY and NKSD policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

The SRO will strive to prevent juvenile delinquency through close contact with students and school personnel and use proven methods for early detection of deviant behavior in students. 2.3. The SRO will investigate delinquent acts within the school system and its neighborhood complex when school or student oriented. 2.4. The SRO will participate as a resource person for the school district, in classrooms and assembles, and provide service to neighborhood merchants and residents in school related problems. 2.5. At all times the SRO will be aware of the responsibility to improve the image of the uniformed law enforcement office in the eyes of the student and the community.

Duties of the SRO. An SRO shall not function as a school disciplinarian or security officer and shall not intervene in the normal disciplinary actions of Renaissance. Each assigned SRO shall act at all times within the scope of authority granted to the SRO by applicable law. The SRO shall perform duties including, without limitation, the following: a) the performance of law enforcement functions within the school setting; b) the provision of assistance to RENAISSANCE in protecting and securing the school plant and its occupants during regular school hours; c) upon learning of any potential threat that affects the safety and security of the school, SRO shall, as soon as practicable, promptly notify the school administration of the situation so protective measures can be implemented by the school. d) the enhancement of student knowledge of the law enforcement function and of the fundamental concept and structure of law; e) the development of positive student concepts of the law enforcement community and promotion of positive interaction and enhanced relations between students and law enforcement officers; f) the provision of assistance and support for crime victims (including victims of abuse) identified within the school setting; g) the presentation of educational programs concerning crime prevention and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of students as citizens; and h) SRO shall participate as a School-Based Threat Management Team (”SBTMT”) Member at SBTMT Meetings located at the School. As a SBTMT Member, the SRO will assist the school in gathering information, evaluating facts, and helping to make institutional determinations, such as whether a health or safety emergency exists, and how the school should respond. SRO will also, along with other SBTMT Members, have access to SBBC’s Psychological Services Department i) Pursuant to Section 1006.12(1)(c), Florida Statutes, SRO shall complete mental health crisis intervention training using a curriculum developed by a national organization with expertise in mental health crisis intervention prior to SHERIFF’s assignment to the School and SHERIFF shall provide School with written certification for the assigned SRO.
