HIRING OF RETIRED TEACHERS. A teacher retired under XXXX (“re-employed teacher”) may be employed/re-employed under the following conditions:
A. The Board is under no obligation to employ any retired teacher and there is no expectation of re-employment when a teacher retires from the Riverside Local School District. Re- employed teachers who previously worked in the District do not need to be interviewed by the Board for any vacant positions for which they apply. Re-employed teachers who previously worked in the District are not guaranteed a particular assignment upon re- employment. Re-employed teachers will be assigned to positions that are within their certification/licensure area(s) and are eligible for transfers pursuant to the negotiated agreement.
B. Re-employed teachers will be placed, at the Board’s discretion, at any year of experience between zero and eight years of service on the salary schedule. Once initially placed at a level, any subsequent re-employment shall be on the same level. Re-employed teachers shall be given full credit for their educational level at the time of their retirement. The District will only be responsible for single coverage only.
C. Re-employed teachers are eligible for the Riverside Local Schools insurance program. The District will be responsible for the cost of single coverage only. If the retire-hired teacher elects to participate in family insurance, then the employee is responsible for the paying the cost of the difference between the single and family plan.
D. Re-employed teachers shall be given full credit for their educational level at the time of their retirement.
E. Re-employed teachers are not eligible for continuing contracts; rather, they will be awarded one-year contracts that will automatically expire at the end of each school year without notice of non-renewal and without compliance with O.R.C. Sections 3319.11 and 3319.111. For purposes of re-employed teachers, the parties expressly agree that this provision supersedes and replaces O.R.C. Sections 3319.11 and 3319.111 and differs from the rights of other teachers contained in the negotiated agreement. Performance evaluations of re-employed teachers will be conducted annually. Such evaluations may be formal or informal assessments at the discretion of the building principal.
F. Re-employed teachers may not accrue additional STRS credit as a result of their service following re-employment. Instead, the Board and the re-employed teacher shall make contributions to STRS that will fun...
HIRING OF RETIRED TEACHERS. Any bargaining unit member who retires under STRS and subsequently is reemployed in the district may be hired at a rate of pay different from his or her years of service as specified in the salary index contained in this Agreement. Any teacher employed under this article shall be placed at the appropriate salary schedule placement on the salary schedule as determined by the administration at a minimum of Step 3 on the salary schedule with appropriate credit for educational placement. This provision and such salary and individual contract with a member expressly supersedes RC Section 3317.13 and all other applicable laws. While employed by the district subsequent to retirement, such member who is interested in obtaining health care benefits may enroll and participate in such health care benefits offered by the District pursuant to the terms of this Contract. Such retired member is not eligible to receive a severance payment upon leaving employment with the district. This provision of the agreement and such salary and contract will not be grievable under the grievance procedures of this agreement nor through any claim or action filed before the State Employee Relations Board (SERB) or any other court of law.
HIRING OF RETIRED TEACHERS. If the Board of Education elects to employ individuals who have retired and are receiving benefits through the State Teachers Retirement System, the condition set forth in this Article and only the conditions set for in this Article shall apply to the employment of these individuals.
HIRING OF RETIRED TEACHERS. 1. The Board retains the right to re-employ retired Galion teachers. When a bargaining unit member considering retirement makes a request, the Board shall give the individual an answer as to whether or not he/she will be accepted as a re-employee of the District. The employee’s letter requesting reemployment after retirement must be filed with the Superintendent by April 1 and the Board’s response must be provided to the employee on or before May 15. Such indication shall be given prior to the retiree surrendering a letter of resignation. The retired employee has no guarantee that he/she will be given the same assignment as before. The goal would be for an assignment to be made by the Superintendent prior to the end of the school year. After the end of the school year, changes in assignment can only occur following the timely notice in writing to the retired employee. Retirees who intend to return must notify the Superintendent in writing no later than June 30 to assure their assignment.
2. Retirees will be employed at Step 10 and at his/her appropriate level of academic training on the salary schedule. Retirees will progress no higher on the salary schedule than the 10th step. For such members only, this provision expressly supersedes Section 3317.13 of the ORC and all other applicable laws.
3. Such member is only eligible for a one-year limited employment contract that shall be automatically non-renewed at the end of that year. Such member will not resume nor be eligible for continuing contract status during any period of employment with the district. For such members only, this provision expressly supersedes the individual contracts and contract renewal provisions of this agreement, Sections 3319.11 of the Ohio Revised Code, and all other applicable laws.
HIRING OF RETIRED TEACHERS. A. This provision determines all changes in the collective bargaining agreement of the parties in relation to the hiring of retired teachers. Any benefit or provision not stated explicitly herein shall remain as stated in the contract for all teachers in the bargaining unit.
B. There is no guarantee of reemployment of any teacher in the district if the employee retires.
X. Xxxxxxxxx would have been earned and paid upon retirement and therefore any accumulated sick leave also reverts to zero days.
D. Any retired teacher who is hired shall be employed under a series of one-year contracts not to exceed three years with notification to be given on or before April 30th, if they are going to be reemployed by the district or if the contract will be nonrenewed for the following year at the conclusion of the initial contract expiration date. In the case of a teacher who has retired with a continuing contract, the Board of Education may hire that retired teacher pursuant to a continuing contract for a period not to exceed five years.
E. Notification deadline for the retiree to notify the Superintendent of pending retirement: April 1st of the current school year.
F. Evaluation of retired teachers who are hired shall be at the discretion of the administration and may be either formal or informal. Retired teachers who are hired are not subject to 3319.11 and 3319.111, and the decision of the administration is final concerning evaluations. A retired employee may file a rebuttal on any evaluation with which he or she disagrees.
G. Any retired teachers who are hired shall be placed at step 5 in the appropriate column that reflects their education. If rehired for additional years, the teacher would move up the salary schedule.
H. Retired teachers issued a limited contract shall not be eligible for a continuing contract.
I. The retiree shall secure continuation of co-curricular positions which he/she holds at the date of retirement notification intent letter. The evaluation process shall be conducted per contract.
J. Sick leave shall begin at zero and accumulate up to 15 days per year. The board will advance up to 5 days if need. Sick leave shall carry over from year to year of reemployment as a retiree.
K. The district shall pay the retiree a stipend of $50.00 per month if the retiree does not take insurance coverage through the Board. If no other insurance is available, the retired employee who is hired may elect to have Board provided insurance with the co-pay amount out...

HIRING OF RETIRED TEACHERS. Retired teachers may be rehired by the District, subject to the following provisions. Any benefit or provision not stated explicitly herein shall remain as stated in this Negotiated Agreement for all teachers in the bargaining unit:
1. There is no guarantee of reemployment of any teacher in the District if the employee retires. A bargaining unit member still actively employed by the Board and considering retiring may make a written request to the Superintendent at least 90 calendar days prior to the effective date of retirement. The Superintendent shall notify the teacher in writing no later than thirty (30) days from the date of receipt of the written request whether the Superintendent is going to recommend and whether the Superintendent believes the Board will employ the teacher for the following school year. Teachers who have already retired shall apply for positions through the normal application process.
HIRING OF RETIRED TEACHERS. The parties hereby agree that with changes in the State Teachers Retirement System in relation to retired teachers being employed, and the current and expected future shortage of teachers that it may be in the best interest of the parties that retired teachers be employed. The parties also recognize the need to maintain and encourage employment of teachers who have not retired and who have a future interest in Northwood Schools. Therefore, this agreement determines all changes in the Collective Bargaining Agreement of the parties in relation to the hiring of such retired teachers. Any benefit or provision not stated explicitly herein shall remain as stated in the contract for all teachers in the Bargaining unit.
