MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. 16.1 The Board shall grant a leave of absence to a Member in the following circumstances:
(i) up to one (1) day when the Member is scheduled to write, during working hours, an academic, trade or professional examination;
(ii) one (1) day when the Member attends the Member’s post secondary graduation;
(iii) up to one (1) day when the Member attends the graduation of the Member’s spouse, child step child;
(iv) to celebrate a recognized religious holy day Such leave as indicated in (i), and (iii) above, shall be limited to three (3) days per year for each.
16.2 All leaves of absence granted under clause 16.1 shall be deducted from the Member’s sick leave credit account except for 16.1 (iv). A maximum of three (3) days leave granted under 16.1(iv) shall be paid leave, without deduction from sick days.
16.3 The Director of Education or designate may grant a leave of absence to any Member for reasons other than illness up to a maximum of three (3) working days in each calendar year without deduction of salary and any such absence or so much thereof possible shall be deducted from such Member’s current year’s sick leave allowance and the balance, if any, shall be debited to the Member’s Accumulated Sick Leave Credit Account.
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. An employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay if a completed application therefore is approved by the Executive Officer, Human Resources Services, and is sent to the Human Resources Services, where possible, at least fifteen (15) days prior to the requested leave. Such request must show good and sufficient reason and shall contain:
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. Upon request of an employee, the Board may grant additional unpaid leaves at their discretion and under such terms and conditions as they may mutually find agreeable with that employee. The mutual agreement, however, shall be written and signed by the District and the individual employee and a copy shall be forwarded to the Council. The granting or not granting of such leaves shall set no precedent and is not subject to grievance.
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. Section A: Teachers who enter the military service by draft or enlistment shall be granted a leave of absence for that period, and at the conclusion of said leave, shall be reinstated in accordance with all applicable provisions of the Selective Service Training Act and any other law then effective.
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. 13.01 An employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay and without loss in seniority if a completed application therefore is approved by the Executive Officer, Human Resources Services, and is sent to the Human Resources Services, where possible, at least fifteen (15) days prior to the requested leave. Such request must show good and sufficient reason and shall contain:
1) the reason for the proposed absence;
2) the commencement date of the proposed leave of absence;
3) the length of the proposed leave of absence including date of return;
(a) Leaves granted shall be in writing covering a specific period of time.
(b) The Executive Officer, Human Resources Services, agrees to give consideration in a fair and reasonable manner to an extenuating circumstance related to the overstaying of a leave of absence.
(c) Employees must pay one hundred percent (100%) of the benefit premiums for that portion of the approved leave of absence exceeding one (1) month.
(i) Leave of absence without loss of seniority will be granted to not more than three (3) seniority employees at any one time (not more than one (1) of whom shall be from the same school) and all such leaves shall not total more than thirty (30) working days per year (July 1, to June 30) or more than ten (10) working days in total for any individual, and such leave of absence shall be confined to representing the Union at Union conventions or Union conferences.
(ii) The Board agrees to pay, on behalf of the Union to employees on leave of absence pursuant to this Article 13.02, full wages and compensation for which they would otherwise be entitled under this Agreement and the Union agrees to reimburse the Board for the total monies paid to and/or on behalf of such employees.
(iii) Furthermore, during the year in which the Biannual C.U.P.E. National Convention occurs, the Board agrees to a leave of absence without loss of seniority or pay for two (2) employees, not more than one (1) employee from the same school.
(iv) The Board will grant the Union President two (2) complete days per month to perform the duties of the Union with at least one (1) week notice to the Executive Officer, Human Resources Services and a copy to the Senior Administrator, Facility Management Services. The Union will reimburse the Board the full cost of wages and benefits for such release time.

MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. 15.01 Following receipt of the employee’s request in writing, the Board shall grant a leave of absence to a Member in the following circumstances:
(i) up to one (1) day when the employee is scheduled to write, during working hours, an academic, trade or professional examination;
(ii) up to one (1) day when the employee attends the employee’s post secondary graduation;
(iii) up to one (1) day when the employee attends the graduation of the employee’s spouse, child or step-child;
(iv) to celebrate a recognized religious holiday. Such leave as indicated in (i), and (iii) above shall be limited to three (3) days per year for each.
15.02 All leaves of absence granted under clause 15.01 shall be deducted from the Member’s sick leave credit account except for 15.01 (iv). A maximum of three (3) days leave granted under 15.01 (iv) shall be paid leave, without deduction from sick days.
(a) The Manager, Employee Relations, on the recommendation of the employee’s Manager, may grant a leave of absence for reasons other than illness up to a maximum of three (3) working days in each calendar year without deduction of salary and any such absence or so much thereof possible shall be deducted from such Member’s sick leave allowance balance, if any. If such leave is denied it may be appealed, one-time only, to the Superintendent of Education – Student Services within three (3) days of the denial whose decision shall be final and binding.
(b) One (1) working day from the above three (3) working days may be used for personal reasons upon written notice to the Department Manager, seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the leave. Such leave shall not abut a holiday and no more than one employee in each department may take such leave on the same date, unless approved by the Manager.
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. (i) An employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay and without loss in seniority if a complete application is approved by the Executive Officer, Human Resources Services, and is sent to the Human Resources Services, where possible, at least fifteen (15) days prior to the requested leave. Such request must show good and sufficient reasons and shall contain:
(a) the reason for the proposed absence;
(b) the commencement date of the proposed leave of absence;
(c) the length of the proposed leave of absence including date of return;
(d) for personnel employed in schools, the request for leave shall be accompanied by a written recommendation from the Principal;
(e) for personnel employed at the administration centre, the request for leave shall be accompanied by a written recommendation from the employee's Supervisor or, Superintendent, whichever is applicable.
(ii) NOTE Leaves granted shall be in writing covering a specific period of time.
15.02 Employees must pay one hundred per cent (100%) of the benefit premiums for that portion of the approved leave of absence referenced in Article 15.01(i) exceeding one (1) month.
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. 15.00.00 - Absences Not Chargeable to Sick Leave
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. L16.1 The Board shall grant a leave of absence to a Member in the following circumstances:
(i) up to one (1) day when the Member is scheduled to write, during working hours, an academic, trade or professional examination;
(ii) one (1) day when the Member attends the Member’s post-secondary graduation;
(iii) up to one (1) day when the Member attends the graduation of the Member’s partner, child, step child;
(iv) to celebrate a recognized religious holy day L16.2 All leaves of absence granted under Article L16.1 will be without loss of salary and will not be deducted from sick leave.
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES OF ABSENCE. Teachers shall be entitled to short-term personal leave each work year without loss of salary, sick leave, benefits, experience or seniority, subject to the following limitation(s):
