Schools, hospitals, all other institutions had been able to freely carry out their customary activities; however, kidnappings, murders and other abuses continue throughout the metropolitan area. Mid-December the steep increase of fuel prices did not translate into the expected violence in the street and sporadic demonstrations failed to attract masses in the street. Overall, the sharp increase in murder and crime expected during the holiday season did not take place. Highlights: • Act | East Haiti team supported the MSPP to hold a virtual National LF Pause and Reflect meeting from December 13-15th. The meeting presented data analysis and results from FY21 data-forward activities, which included the pre-MDA census, GESI assessment, and Xxxxx operational research project. This meeting was immediately preceded by two days of dossier review and update meetings, which reviewed progress towards Uganda’s trachoma elimination goals and updated the trachoma dossier. The trachoma program team shared program progress to date on each of the components of the SAFE strategy. The latest dossier draft will be shared once finalized. In attendance were the Assistant Commissioner, Health Services, responsible for Vector Borne and Neglected Tropical Diseases (VBNTD) Division; the trachoma program team; other program managers from the NTD program; staff from Health Promotion division; representatives from the Ministry of Water and Environment; and, partners, including Act | East, ASCEND, Sightsavers, Lions, and Water Aid. • Act | East provided technical, financial, and logistical support to the MOH Trachoma program to carry out TSS in Amudat, Kaabong, and Kalenga districts.
