PHASED IN RETIREMENT. An employee who has formally announced their intention to retire may request to work part-time for a maximum of one (1) year. The company has no obligation to agree to this request. If denied, the company will meet with the Union and the employee to outline reason(s) and to explore other options. If accepted, the employee would retain their seniority and if there were a layoff, they would be laid off in accordance with their seniority. The Employer would pay for benefits for the employee. Vacation would be calculated on percentage of hours worked only and not equivalent to a thirty seven and a half (37 ½) hour week. Short-Term Disability and paid sick days would also be prorated for employees working a reduced work week. Any arrangements must be in writing, signed by the Company, employee and the Union. This agreement can be terminated with two (2) weeks written notice by any party.

PHASED IN RETIREMENT. 18.1 Subject to performance reviews and operational requirements, the Chief Executive Officer has the ability to negotiate a phased-in retirement plan with Employees. Such a decision will require the mutual agreement between the Chief Executive Officer and the Employee.
PHASED IN RETIREMENT. Council respects the rights of individual employees to determine when they leave paid employment, while at the same time recognising the value employees have to Council in terms of organisational knowledge. Additionally, it is recognised that retiring from the workforce following extensive service can have a significant effect upon some people. To facilitate transition from work to retirement, the parties will, during the life of this agreement, develop a process that will provide employees access to phased- in-retirement. The overall concept is that employees who are approaching the usual age of retirement shall be able to reduce their work commitments through a reduction in working hours over a period of time with a proportional reduction in salary. Prior to the Council and the employee agreeing to a Phased in Retirement arrangement, the employee shall obtain financial advice from a financial adviser who is an authorised representative of a holder of a current Australian Financial Services Licence and who is authorised to provide personal advice on superannuation and retirement planning. To ensure that an employee is not financially disadvantaged by electing to invoke this right, the superannuation contributions by both the employer and employee shall be based upon the notional pre reduction of hours salary. The reduced commitment in working hours shall enable the recruitment of a trainee or other employee who can develop the relevant skills and experience in the same department within Council to ensure the maintenance of skills available to Council following the retirement decision.
PHASED IN RETIREMENT. 17.01 Only full-time active employees aged fifty-five (55) years or older will be eligible for the option of phased-in retirement under this Article, upon application. 17.02 Eligible employees may apply to participate in this option. Applications may be granted at the Company’s discretion, subject to the needs and efficient operation of the business. The Company has the ability to limit the number of employees working under the terms of this Article. Requests will not be unreasonably denied. 17.03 Subject to the terms of this Article, successful applicants will remain in their current shift and have their basic work week reduced by eight (8) hours each week, or ten (10) hours per week in the case of an employee on ten (10) hour shifts. 17.04 Employees working under the terms of this Article will: (a) maintain the wage rate in the wage scale as their seniority dictates; (b) be scheduled by the Company based on business needs and are not guaranteed consecutive days off; (c) receive overtime pay as a part-time employee under Article 8.03(a);

PHASED IN RETIREMENT. (a) Council respects the rights of individual Employees to make their own choices on when they leave Council whilst at the same time recognising the value these Employees have given to Council in terms of their organisational knowledge. In addition, Council recognises that leaving the workforce in retirement after a long period of service can be dramatic for some people. (b) Employees who are approaching normal age of retirement are able to apply to reduce their work commitments through a reduction in working hours over a period of twelve (12) months with a consequential reduction in salary. Approval of such application will be subject to there being minimal disruption to operational coverage and service delivery. (c) As with any retirement decision, it will be the Employee's choice to apply for phased in retirement and the Employee will not suffer any detriment as a result. The Employee's salary and conditions will be on a pro-rata basis in accordance with normal part-time provisions. Under special circumstance and by mutual Agreement this period may be increased. This reduced commitment in working hours may be matched with the recruitment of a replacement. (d) No Employee utilising Transition to Retirement shall suffer any disadvantage in regards to their Long Service Leave entitlement. In essence, an Employee’s accruals will be maintained at pre transition levels with any subsequent LSL being debited on a daily basis. The intent is that the Employee is not disadvantaged by his/her new reduced hours on a weekly basis. Description Work at this level consists of work assignments that are often highly repetitive in nature. Positions are generally focused on the provision of customer service and may involve some administrative functions. Work is performed within specific guidelines, under general supervision, and limited by established standards, procedures and instructions from others. Education & Qualifications Preferred completion of Year 10. Practical / Technical Knowledge Requires knowledge of standardised work routines and methods, general facts and information, and/or the use of standard office equipment. Knowledge is usually acquired through training on the job. PHASED IN RETIREMENT. Reduced Workload (Xxxxxx Xxxxx) Upon request the District will allow a unit member to reduce his or her workload from full time to part time duties subject to review and approval by the Board pursuant to the following regulation: 19.2.1 The member must have reached the age of 55 years prior to reduction in workload. 19.2.2 The unit member must have been employed full-time in a position requiring certification for at least 10 years of which the immediately preceding five years were full-time employment without a break in service. Sabbaticals and other approved leaves of absence shall not constitute a break in service. 19.2.3 A unit member who desires to reduce his/her workload under this section shall request such reduction in writing no later than March 1 immediately preceding the academic year in which such reduced workload is to commence. 19.2.4 A unit member who is accepted into the reduced workload program shall perform certificated service at such times as are mutually agreed upon pursuant to a written contract between the unit member and the Board. 19.2.5 The District may enter into an agreement to employ a new teacher on a part-time basis for the following year to serve for that portion of the school year, which represents the reduced service of the phased-in retirement. 19.2.6 Upon mutual agreement, the reduced service may be on a 50% basis for a full academic year, or on a full-time basis for a complete semester, but shall be at least the equivalent of one-half of the workload required by the unit member's contract or employment during his/her final year of full-time service. The agreement to reduce the workload shall be in effect at the beginning of the school year. 19.2.7 The unit member shall be paid a salary which is the pro rata share of the salary the unit member would be earning had the member not elected to exercise the option of part-time employment, but shall retain all other rights and benefits for which the unit member makes payments that would be required if remaining in full time employment. 19.2.8 The unit member shall receive health benefits as provided in Section 3201 of the Government Code in the same manner as a full-time employee as well as other benefits that the unit member is entitled to under this part, based upon the compensation that the member would have received if the member had been employed on a full time basis as defined in Education Code sections 22713(a) and 44922. 19.2.9 A unit member shall not participate in the...

Council respects the rights of individual Employees to make their own choices on when they leave paid employment, whilst at the same time recognising the value Employees have to Council in terms of their organisational knowledge and skills. In addition, it is recognised that leaving the workforce in retirement after a long period of service can be dramatic for some people. To assist, Council will develop a process which will provide Employees access to phased-in retirement. Subject to a mutual agreement the overall concept is that Employees who are approaching the normal age of retirement are able to reduce their work commitments through a reduction in working hours over a period of time with a consequential reduction in salary. As with any retirement decision, it will be the Employee’s choice to apply for phased-in retirement and the Employee will not suffer any detriment as a result.
