Professional Association Leave. 1. Teachers shall be excused to attend meetings within their area of responsibility that are called by the State Board of Education and/or by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction when approved by the building and/or program administration, or to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the Idaho State Education Association.
Professional Association Leave. Upon written application to the Superintendent/designee, each school year a total of fifteen (15) days of Professional Association Leave shall be granted by the Superintendent/designee if the need arises for use by the BEA officers and its representatives. The President of BEA or his/her designee must complete an application for Professional Association Leave as far as possible in advance of the date(s) the leave is being requested and forward the application to the Superintendent/designee. The application must include the name(s) of the BEA officer(s) and representative(s) who will be using the leave, and the date(s) when such leave will be used. The number of people who may request such leave, at any given time, cannot exceed five percent (5%) of the Association membership of any building, plus the officers, building representatives and negotiating team members.
Professional Association Leave. 1. An employee will be granted a leave of absence for the year(s) of his/her tenure of office as an officer of the M.E.A., N.E.A. or a Professional/Education Related Association.
2. Upon agreement between the teacher, professional association and the District, the Board may elect to continue the salary and agreed upon fringe benefits of a teacher with full or partial reimbursement of the costs by the professional association as agreed upon by the parties.
3. When employees are granted a leave of absence, they shall retain the following employment rights held by them before such leave was granted:
a. The same position on the salary schedule as held when the leave was granted. Starting with the 1970-71 school year, if a teacher has been employed at least half the working days plus one (1) during the first or second half of his/her work year, experience credit for the semester will be allowed.
b. Unused sick leave, as held at the start of the leave.
c. Effective with the beginning of the 1986-87 school year, any leaves which are granted will accrue up to three years of seniority.
4. Employees on a leave of absence must give written notice to the Executive Director for Human Resources by March 1, of the year the leave expires, of their intention to return or extend their leave of absence. The notice of intention to return or request an extension of their leave is the responsibility of the individual. In the event such notice is not received, the District has the discretion to interpret this as a resignation.
5. Reemployment will be conditioned by the availability of an opening for which individuals are certified and qualified according to Board Policy.
Professional Association Leave. Upon the request of SELDTA, a member of the teaching staff elected to a state or national office of a bona fide professional organization will be granted a leave of absence for the time period he/she holds said position. The bona fide professional organization will be determined by the SELDTA President and the Superintendent.
Professional Association Leave. Professional Association Leave with pay shall be granted to the official representative of the Association, as designated by the Association president, to attend to official business to a collective maximum of five (5) school days per calendar year. The school district will be reimbursed for all substitute teacher costs for each day by the Association. Additional days may be granted by the approval of the Superintendent. These days shall not be counted against the teacher’s annual leave days nor shall they be considered into the percentage of absences a teacher has in any given contract year.
Professional Association Leave. The professional teaching association(s) will be credited with Association Days during which designated agents of the association(s) conduct association business. The cost of substitute teachers will be paid for by the district. Association Days will be granted in a ratio of one {l) day absence per each twenty-five (25) association members with at least twenty-five (25) members. Application for use of a professional association day must be approved by the president of the association and must be submitted through the principal to the Personnel Department prior to the date of the proposed leave. Each organization will be credited association days following receipt of a letter certifying memberships. Letters certifying membership must be filed with the Personnel Department by October 30th of each school year. Verification of the number of delegates attending a meeting or a convention is required. The ratio of one (1) day per each twenty-five (25) association members will be approved for each teacher organization. A membership list must be provided each year.
Professional Association Leave. 1. Each year, the Forum President or designees shall be entitled to use up to a total of 30 paid administrative leave days to be used for Forum business and/or lobbying purposes. The Superintendent, upon request from the Forum President, may, but will not be required to, grant additional paid administrative leave days to the Forum. Professional leave under this section, upon request, shall be granted in one-half (1/2) day increments.
2. The Forum President will be granted a part-time release for the conduct of Forum business.
Professional Association Leave. A. The Board shall allow for an annual bank of one hundred twenty (120) paid professional leave days, twenty (20) of these one hundred-twenty (120) being for the Association representatives who attend Association governance events. The others are to be used for meetings which can be beneficial in improving the teacher’s classroom duties. The professional instructional meetings should correlate with the District’s Continuous Improvement Plan goals. For so long as this bank allows, a teacher is entitled to use at least one (1) such day provided application for such leave is made no less than two (2) weeks in advance to the Personnel Director or his/her designee.
B. When the professional leave bank is exhausted, teachers may be granted additional professional leave, in excess of one hundred twenty (120) days, upon approval of the Superintendent or his/her designee. The Superintendent or his/her designee shall keep track of all leave that is used and inform the Association when the total leave bank has been exhausted.
C. Teachers who are granted professional leave shall be reimbursed by the Board according to established policy.
Professional Association Leave. Leave for attendance at local, state, or national meetings of the Association shall be granted by the Human Resources Office, not to exceed thirty (30) days per year with no more than six (6) employees released on any given day, when requested by the Association President in writing. Reasonable release for purposes of bargaining preparation during a contract negotiation year, and release for attendance at WEA Representative Assembly (RA) will be approved during years that RA occurs on instructional days and will not be included in the above limits. When such request requires employees to be absent from their assignment, the Association will reimburse the District for expenses created by such absences. WEA or NEA employee leave requests shall be sent directly to the Human Resources Office. The leave request must include WEA’s or NEA’s agreement to reimburse the District for expenses created by such absences.
Professional Association Leave a. A representative of the Association will be entitled to a temporary leave of absence with pay (up to three [3] days) each school year to attend the NYSUT Representative Assembly.
b. Lansing Faculty Association members holding office on the Board of Directors of NYSUT will be permitted two (2) days leave of absence with pay from school obligations to carry out their duties.
