Professional Business Leave. The Board recognizes the potential value of teacher and staff attendance at clinics, conferences, and conventions. Each teacher may apply for one (1) or more professional conference day(s) without loss of salary for the following: 1. Making visitations to view other instructional techniques or programs. 2. Attending educational conferences, workshops or seminars including MEA-and NEA-sponsored events not involving arbitration, negotiation, or grievance processing. 3. Application for use of professional business days shall be made in writing to the teacher’s building principal with a written explanation of the expected benefit of the program/clinic/etc. to the Lincoln Consolidated Schools. The building principal shall forward the application, together with his/her recommendation, to the Superintendent of Schools (or his/her designee) for final approval or denial. 4. As valuable as such meetings are, however, there are limitations of attendance which must be recognized. a. Any meeting or occasion which takes the teacher from the classroom for one (1) or more days is a serious matter, and can only be approved for a valid reason. The value of a conference must be justified before approval for attendance will be given. b. Permission in general will not be granted for a group of teachers from the same department to attend the same conference. Where conferences involving more than one (1) member of a department are held, attendance should be rotated. c. State-wide committee appointments which involve the teacher being absent from the classroom must receive approval from the Board of Education. This request should come directly to the Board from the sponsoring group. d. Teachers who wish to attend a conference should apply at least fourteen (14) days prior to the date the conference is to be held, whenever possible. This request must first be approved by the building principal and then forwarded to the Superintendent for action. The teacher shall be notified within seven (7) days of application. e. The school budget provides a limited amount of funds to cover expenses of teachers who attend educational conferences or visitations as listed in 1 and 2 above. Teachers attending approved professional conferences and/or visitations for professional development who are not eligible to receive reimbursement from grants or other funding sources shall be reimbursed up to $60 for expenses incurred while attending the out-of-district activity. f. Professional Business Leave. Conferences, workshops, conventions, and visitation days offer valuable in-service opportunities to teachers; therefore a reasonable number of teachers, within the limitations of administratively approved budget appropriations and educational objectives should be encouraged to attend same. The teacher planning to use professional business days shall notify the Principal at least one (1) week in advance of the anticipated absence. Mileage, registration, and housing fees as approved by the Superintendent or their designee shall be paid by the District. Teachers may request registration fees in advance and shall be paid mileage allowance expenses upon the presentation of completed vouchers. Any trip in excess of two hundred (200) miles one-way must have prior approval of the Board. Attendance at such conferences shall be rotated, among those applying within a building, on as equitable a basis as possible.
Professional Business Leave. Professional business leave shall be limited to (a) subject matter conference(s) in the teacher's field or to observations of programs in other districts. Personal expenses while in attendance at the conference will be paid for by the Ithaca Board of Education providing the following conditions are met: 1. Attendance at conference or visitation is approved by the superintendent or his representative prior to attending. 2. Reasonable expenses are supported by expense vouchers and mileage statement.
Professional Business Leave. Each employee shall apply to the Superintendent to be allowed to attend one (1) work or school-related workshop / clinic /convention each year without loss of pay. The Superintendent retains the right to approve or reject any requests for use of professional leave. The Superintendent will base his approval or rejection of the application for professional leave on the value of the workshop / clinic / convention to the employees' assigned responsibilities, the location of the workshop / clinic / convention, and the ability to obtain a substitute(if applicable). Should an emergency situation occur, the superintendent may cancel approval. If approval is canceled, the employer shall reimburse the employee for any loss of prepaid expenses. The Board shall pay for all fees associated with the workshop / clinic / convention upon submission of receipts. The employee will be reimbursed for reasonable expenses (lodging, meals, and mileage). This does not preclude the Board from sending employees to other conferences funded by state or federal grants; however, the Board shall pay all expenses for those conferences.

Professional Business Leave. This is granted at full salary for reasons deemed beneficial to the District, including to: (1) attend conferences, (2) engage in workshops, (3) participate in educational activities, or (4) visit other schools. Granting of this leave affects no other leave. All requests for professional leave will be submitted to the principal, and the principal will then submit the request to the superintendent for final approval. This leave shall be subject to approval by the superintendent. Approval or denial will be returned in writing within ten (10) workdays. Should the request be denied, reasoning shall be provided. Mileage will be reimbursed at the current IRS rate. The limit for meal reimbursement shall be a maximum of $11.00 for breakfast, $16.00 for lunch, and $27.00 for dinner. Itemized receipts are required and reimbursement for alcoholic beverages will not be allowed.
Professional Business Leave. A teacher shall not be regarded as absent from work during any period while he is engaged in professional business related to education provided he has obtained proper authorization for such leave from the superintendent. Application must be submitted to the superintendent at least five (5) days prior to the requested absence whenever possible and approved by the superintendent at least three (3) days prior to the meeting date. Examples of such professional business are conventions and other education meetings and speaking engagements involving education. The superintendent will specify in advance whether he will approve the reimbursement of all, or part, or none, of the business expenses occasioned by such professional business.

Professional Business Leave. The Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent may grant professional business leaves for legitimate reasons deemed beneficial to the School District. Such temporary leave, at full salary, may permit a teacher to: 1. Visit other schools 2. Attend professional conferences 3. Be engaged in workshop sessions 4. Participate in educational activities Approval of such leave requests will be subject to the following guidelines: (a.) How will attendance benefit the individual and the School District? (b.) Is this activity related to the participants teaching area? (c.) How many previous trips has the individual taken? (d.) What costs are involved? All professional leave requests are submitted to the building principal in duplicate for appropriate action. To assure District 99 of maximum benefits from such attendance, they shall require a written report of the activity, which can be made available to all staff members for review. This report shall be filed with the Superintendent within two weeks after the meeting. All school personnel shall receive an automobile reimbursement at the I.R.S. rate with approval of the Superintendent per mile for approved trips outside of the Spring Valley School District 99.
Professional Business Leave. Temporary leave with pay may be granted at the discretion of the administration for the purpose of visiting other schools, attending meetings or conferences of an educational nature, or for Association Representatives to attend M.T.A. and/or N.E.A. conferences and conventions.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Union Business Leave ‌ 1. The officers and representatives of the Union are as follows: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Stewards. The President of the Union shall provide the City with a roster of officers and representatives and keep the City informed of any changes in that roster. 2. Up to three (3) representatives of the Union shall be allowed time off for negotiations or conferences with City Officials, without loss of pay or benefits, provided that the City’s operations shall always take priority over other business. Off-duty personnel will not be compensated for such negotiations, conferences or hearings. 3. Officers of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to conduct union business that cannot be conducted during off-duty time. 4. Officers and/or representatives of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to attend training classes without loss of pay or benefits to further management-employee relations. 5. The number of days off with pay and benefits under paragraphs 3 and 4 shall not exceed an aggregate of four (4) days for the entire bargaining unit per calendar year. All requests for leave pursuant to paragraphs 3 and 4 shall be submitted in writing to the City Manager no less than ten (10) working days prior to the date of the requested leave. 6. Any Officer or Xxxxxxx of the Union shall be allowed to investigate any situation/issue brought to his/her attention by either union members or management. If the nature of the issue is such that expedited handling will result in prompt disposition thereof without interference to department operations then management shall allow the Officer/Xxxxxxx to investigate the matter while on duty, provided that City operations will always take priority over other business. It is further understood that time spent by Officers/Stewards on Union related matters while off duty is non-compensable. Time spent by Officers/Stewards processing matters through the grievance procedure, attending disciplinary sessions with supervisors, and attending disciplinary and/or administrative hearings before appropriate authorities shall only be paid during their regularly scheduled workweek. 7. Staff representatives of the Union shall be allowed to meet with employees during unpaid lunch and/or coffee breaks to the degree the meetings do not disrupt the workplace.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent teacher, long-term occasional teacher or teacher hired into a term position under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, as amended. b) The teacher will provide to the employer such evidence as necessary to prove entitlement under the Employment Standards Act. c) A teacher contemplating taking such leave(s) shall notify the employer of the intended date the leave is to begin and the anticipated date of return to active employment. d) Seniority and experience continue to accrue during such leave(s). e) Where a teacher is on such leave(s), the Employer shall continue to pay its share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. To maintain participation and coverage under the Collective Agreement, the teacher must agree to provide for payment for the teacher’s share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. f) In order to receive pay for such leaves, a teacher must access Employment Insurance and the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) in accordance with g) to j), if allowable by legislation. An employee who is eligible for E.I. is not entitled to benefits under a school board’s sick leave and short term disability plan. g) The Employer shall provide for permanent teachers, long-term occasional teachers and teachers hired into a term position who access such Leaves, a SEB plan to top up their E.I.
