Sick Bank Leave. The Board in cooperation with the Association shall establish a sick leave bank subject to the following guidelines:

Sick Bank Leave. A. The Board, in cooperation with the Association, shall establish a Sick Leave Bank on a mandatory basis. The Association shall develop and publish guidelines for the administration of the Bank and shall administer the Bank.
Sick Bank Leave. A sick bank leave is established for medical reasons after the bargaining unit member has exhausted sick leave benefits. Each bargaining unit member electing to participate in the bank shall contribute up to five (5) sick days to the bank. The days in the bank may accumulate to a maximum of ninety (90): When the maximum days are obtained, new bargaining unit members may join the sick bank without contributing to the sick bank until it becomes necessary to accumulate again. Bargaining unit members who initially opted not to participate in the sick bank may join at the beginning of a succeeding school year by contributing five (5) sick days. These additional days may cause the total accumulation to rise above ninety (90) days. A four (4) member screening committee from the Association shall receive applications for request of days from the sick bank.
Sick Bank Leave. Committee The Association shall establish a Sick Leave Bank Committee of not more than seven members, not less than one member of each administrative unit.
Sick Bank Leave. 1. Any actively employed member of the bargaining unit covered by this agreement is eligible for membership in this sick bank. WREA members will notify the Sick Bank Committee by October 1st, or within sixty (60) days of hire, that they want to contribute to the sick bank.
Sick Bank Leave a. The Board agrees to the establishment of a Supervisory Union-wide Sick Leave Bank (the “Bank”) for each member district which shall be administered by a governing body consisting of three (3) members, including the superintendent and two members of the Association (one from within the requesting district and one outside the requesting district). The Bank shall exist for the purpose of providing paid sick leave for employees who have used all of their own accumulated sick days, are struck by a serious illness, and have not met the required elimination period under the long-term disability insurance policy. The employees shall submit written documentation by a physician identifying the nature and seriousness of the underlying illness. The definition of “serious illness” has the same meaning as 21 V.S.A. §471(5). The rules governing the procedures of the Bank beyond those established herein shall be developed by the governing body but shall be mutually agreed upon between the Board and the Association. The governing body will have discretionary judgment in granting days from the Bank except that any employee donating days will have the right to use those days donated only if he/she exhausts his/her own accumulation and the Bank has days available; the maximum days an employee may be granted are the number needed to qualify for LTD insurance.
Sick Bank Leave. The Board agrees to maintain a Sick Leave Bank (hereafter referred to as the Bank) for serious illness or disability. Any sick days remaining in the Bank at the end of the one school year shall be carried over to the following school year. New employees shall be required to donate one (1) day, regardless of the number of days currently in the Bank. In the event the Bank reaches the level of thirty (30) days or below in any school year, then every employee shall be required to donate one (1) day from the days set forth in Section 14.1. Employees will be notified within two (2) pay periods after the day has been donated. In the event that an employee does not have a sick day to donate, they will be required to contribute their first subsequent accrued sick day. To become eligible to request extended benefits from the Bank: • an employee must complete a Sick Bank Request Application; • donated one (1) day to the Bank; • an employee must complete one full year of service under this agreement; • exhausted all accrued sick leave under Section 14.1; • exhaust all personal leave • an employee must have had a minimum of ten (10) sick days accrued on June 30th of the prior contract year; • continue to be seriously ill or disabled five (5) work days beyond the exhaustion of sick leave; • present satisfactory evidence of serious illness or disability (excluding work- connected accident covered under district workers compensation); • and gain the approval of the Sick Leave Bank Committee. Applications for sick bank leave shall only be considered once in a three year period unless extenuating circumstances exist and are approved by the Sick Bank Committee. Approval or denial of sick bank made by the Sick Bank committee is final and cannot be grieved by the employee or the Association. Any employee who continues to be seriously ill or disabled beyond the five (5) day work period and is found to be eligible for payment under this Section, will be paid from the first day of serious illness or disability. The five (5) day delay before Bank eligibility shall not apply to those employees who begin the school year with forty (40) or more accrued days of sick leave. Employees may draw from the Sick Leave Bank in accordance with years of service under this Agreement. Sick Bank Leave. Participants who have exhausted all personal sick leave days may apply to the Sick Leave Bank Review Board for additional sick leave days. The Sick Leave Bank Review Board shall consist of three (3) teachers (one primary, one intermediate, and one middle school) elected by the process established by the GEA; a principal, elected by a process established by the Administration; two (2) representatives from the non-certified staff, one of which is an Educational Associate, elected by a process established by the Association; and the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. The Board shall operate by consensus. Full-time employees shall make a one-time contribution of one sick day at the time of hire. The guidelines for use of the Sick Leave Bank shall be developed by the Sick Leave Bank Review Board and shall be subject to approval by the Board. Participants shall not hold the Sick Leave Bank Review Board or the Administration of School District 34 liable for any decision made by the Sick Leave Bank Review Board.
Sick Bank Leave. F. The Sick Leave Bank will be administered by a Sick Leave Bank Committee, (“SLBC”) consisting of five (5) members. Two (2) of these members shall be the President and Vice President of the Association. The other three (3) members will be appointed by the Association for the length of the contract. Also, there will be an alternate member to fill in for any board member who needs sick time. (Refer to Part R). All SLBC members must participate in the sick leave bank in order to be on the SLBC and to vote. Disbursement of sick leave days shall require three (3) affirmative votes from the Sick Leave Bank Committee, along with final approval of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, or Director of Personnel. Both the Sick Leave Bank Committee and the North Andover School Department Administrators must approve a sick leave bank request.
Sick Bank Leave. Members of the Association shall be permitted to contribute one (1) day from his/her sick leave accumulation reserve each School year to a Sick Leave Bank which shall be established to aid participating members who personally suffer prolonged illness and whose sick leave accumulation has been exhausted. Sick leave bank time does not apply in cases of illnesses other than illnesses of the unit member.
