Terms of Apprenticeship. The term of apprenticeship shall be as established by these Standards of Apprenticeship in accordance with the schedule of work processes and related instruction as outlined in the Appendix attached hereto.
Terms of Apprenticeship. The complete term of apprenticeship shall be 8000 hours, which shall include the probationary period.
Terms of Apprenticeship. 01. The period of apprenticeship shall be compatible with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. After graduation, the apprentice will automatically progress to journeyman top rate during the next eighteen (18) months of satisfactory work performance.
02. The first ninety (90) days of the first year will be considered entirely as a probationary period and the person’s continuance as an apprentice depends upon ability and progress as demonstrated during this trial period.
03. To be eligible for advancement at the end of any period, an apprentice must have completed their shop work to the satisfaction of the shop supervision and their technical training to the satisfaction of the trade school.
04. An apprentice who does not qualify for advancement at the end of any period (with the exception of the first one) shall be considered as re-entering upon a trial period, and shall be notified, in writing, as to the nature of their unsatisfactory work by their immediate supervisor. Such notification shall be subject to a review by the Apprenticeship Committee. If he does not qualify after three (3) additional months, that person shall be released from the Apprenticeship Program.
Terms of Apprenticeship. The term of apprenticeship will be determined by the Ministry of Education and Training and the recording of such time will be the responsibility of the Section employing the apprentice. Credit for previous experience may be given when the apprentice has satisfactorily demonstrated that such apprentice possesses such previous experience and skills required to qualify for such credit. Only hours actually worked will apply to the apprenticeship program and time lost due to illness, injury, vacation, leave, etc., will not qualify as apprenticeship time. The normal hours of work within the journeyperson’s classification will apply to the apprentice and any hours worked at the overtime rate shall only qualify for credit to the apprenticeship program at the rate of actual hours worked.
Terms of Apprenticeship. The apprentice training program will follow the regulations and training schedules as laid out by the Ontario Ministry of Skills Development, under the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualification Acts Regulation 32. The only exception is that apprentices in each of the trades shall be paid a progressively increasing schedule of wages, calculated in the following manner: 1st 1,000 hours (6 months) Their Present Rate (pre-posted rate) 2nd 1,000 hours Pre-Posted Base Rate + 10% of the Rate Difference 3rd 1,000 hours Pre-Posted Base Rate + 20% of the Rate Difference 4th 1,000 hours Pre-Posted Base Rate + 30% of the Rate Difference 5th 1,000 hours Pre-posted Base Rate + 40% of the Rate Difference 6th 1,000 hours Pre-posted Base Rate + 55% of the Rate Difference 7th 1,000 hours Pre-posted Base Rate + 70% of the Rate Difference 8th 1,000 hours Pre-posted Base Rate + 85% of the Rate Difference 9th 1,000 hours Pre-posted Base Rate + 90% of the Rate Difference 10th 1,000 hours Pre-Posted Base Rate + 95% of the Rate Difference Apprentices who are credited hours for previous experience shall be paid accordingly to the above schedule based on the approved credited hours. Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship program and obtaining the applicable license the employee will receive the journeyman's qualified base rate of pay. During the training periods, while the apprentice is going to school, the Company will continue to pay the employee's rate for a normal 40-hour week plus C.O.L.A. and benefits. It is understood that if the Ministry disqualifies the apprentice, the employee will be removed from the apprenticeship program and will return to the position they held prior to the beginning of the apprenticeship program.
Terms of Apprenticeship. (1) The period of Apprenticeship will be four (4) years, divided into eight (8) periods, each of six (6) months duration. After graduation, if retained, an apprentice will automatically proceed over a one (1) year period to journeyman status, as indicated in the Apprentice "Rates of Pay".
(2) Technical training pertaining to the trade will be provided by:
(a) Whenever possible, the technical training of apprentices shall be provided through attendance at government trade schools. In such cases the number of hours of technical training an apprentice receives shall be determined by the authorities in charge of the trade school.
(b) If suitable government trade school training is not available, four hours per week of the apprenticeship term will be allowed for classroom instruction or correspondence course study.
(3) The first period shall be considered entirely a probationary period and his continuance as an apprentice depends upon ability, progress and attitude as demonstrated during this trial period.
(4) Where technical training cannot be taken at a trade school because suitable courses are not available correspondence courses in the related subjects will be used. Courses will be purchased under the Company Educational Refund Plan but in the case of an xxxxxxxxxx xxx refund for this course will be 100% of the net cost on successful completion of the course. The Industrial Relations Department will review course content for the various trades as provided by the government trade schools and if additional technical training is considered necessary, an apprentice may be required to take a correspondence course as well as attend a trade school.
(5) Except as indicated in sub-section (4) above, when an apprentice receives his technical training at a government trade school, he will not be enrolled for a correspondence course and will not be allowed time for study during his regular hours of work. However, any employee who is already enrolled for a correspondence course shall complete such course under the conditions contained in this agreement.
(6) After an apprentice has completed his required correspondence course, all remaining study time, allowed on the basis of four hours per week, will be available to him for further approved technical training, if he so desires.

The apprentice will only be allowed one (1) three (3) month extension during their apprenticeship. An employee released from the Apprenticeship Program who transferred to the Engineering-Trades Department from another mill department shall displace the most junior Cleaneror Labourer in the holding a regular job position, providing the trainee has greater Company service seniority than the junior Cleaner or Labourer being displaced. An employee displaced from the program who entered the Engineering-Trades Department from outside the bargaining unit and is released from the program shall be released from the payroll.
Terms of Apprenticeship. The terms of Apprenticeship for each individual shall be in accordance with the training work schedule and classroom schedule as determined on the basis of such individual’s skill development map by the Company at each business unit. In each business unit, the Business Unit Committee shall be provided an outline of these schedules. These schedules provide a guide and may from time to time be revised, as conditions require. A copy of all such revisions shall be furnished to the Business Unit Committee involved.
Terms of Apprenticeship. The period of Apprenticeship shall be for 4-1/2 to 5 years depending on the particular trade one enters. An employee entering the program will have a trial period for up to 30 days. During the 30 days, the employee may return to his/her former position if it is determined that the program is not suitable to the individual. After 30 days, the employee would return to the Labour Pool.
Terms of Apprenticeship. (a) The complete term of apprenticeship shall be 8000 hours, which shall include the probationary period.
(b) The first sixty (61) days of work shall be regarded as probationary, for the purposes of:
(i) The apprentice's Team Coordinator and the JAC confirming the suitability of the apprentice for the chosen trade
(ii) The apprentice confirming their interest in continuing with the program.
(c) Credit may be granted, in justifiable instances and at the discretion of the JAC with assessment and advice through MOSD, to applicants with previous training or experience. Such training or experience must be either as an apprentice with another Company, a pre-apprentice course or directly related training. In the latter instance, the training must be directly related to the schedule of practical assignments in the apprenticeship program.
(d) The progress of the apprentice shall be subject to review by the JAC. Should such review reveal unsatisfactory progress, either in practical or related classroom instruction on the part of the apprentice, with recommendation of the JAC, the Company may cancel the apprenticeship agreement with the employee for just and reasonable cause.
(e) The JAC may extend the term of apprenticeship, with written advice to MOSD, where the apprentice fails to make satisfactory progress in practical work or related classroom instruction.
