TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL LEAVE. 24.01 The Employer agrees to provide time off with pay for the purpose of attending approved courses or conferences for education as it pertains to the employee's present job. It is further agreed that this is restricted to resources available and operating requirements of the Centre. 24.02 The Employer agrees to discuss with all affected employees, by department, the amount of money available for training and education purposes during the fiscal year. 24.03 When the Employer approves of an employee's attendance to a course for training and/or educational purposes, the employee shall suffer no loss in wages. 24.04 Time spent by employees required by the Employer to attend classes of instruction outside regular working hours shall be considered time worked at straight time unless such time regularly exceeds the normal work week in which case overtime will be paid or the employee's normal schedule will be amended.

TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL LEAVE. Employees shall be entitled to training and educational leave without loss of pay each year. 5.8.1 Each full-time employee shall be provided up to a maximum of three (3) days of leave. Each part-time employee shall be provided up to a maximum of two (2) days of leave. Leave shall be used upon approval of the Superintendent for the purpose of attending conferences, workshops, seminars, PAR, and for observation in other programs or facilities to encourage betterment of the program and/or improvement of performance. Further, employees can use professional days in order to attend CPR and First Aid training on an individual basis. Days in this section shall mean the hours usually worked on such days and the corresponding pay. 5.8.2 The employee shall apply to the Supervisor at least five (5) workdays in advance of the leave date(s). When leave is approved by the Superintendent/designee, the reimbursement allocations stated below shall be applicable.
TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL LEAVE. 33.01 When the Hospital deems it necessary to train part-time or casual employees to perform duties that may allow them to be available for additional work in the department, the training will be with pay and will be offered in descending order of seniority to the qualified employees in the classification to be trained. 33.02 The Hospital shall contribute Fifty Thousand ($50,000) Dollars every August 1st to the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local No. 1869 Education and Training Trust Fund. This Education and Training Trust Fund will be governed by a trust agreement signed by the Union and the Hospital and will be administered by three (3) trustees – two (2) appointed by the Union and one (1) appointed by the Hospital. The goal of the Education and Training Trust Fund will be to provide training and educational opportunities to Local 1869 members. It shall also be intended to provide scholarships to eligible members and their families. 33.03 The Hospital shall assist employees who attend training programs at approved institutions off the premises outside their working hours where such training relates to jobs within the bargaining unit. Such assistance shall be restricted to financial resources and shall include tuition fees, and may include other incidental expenses. Attendance at such training programs shall be without pay unless the Hospital specifically requires the employee to attend. 33.04 The Hospital agrees to establish continuing education sessions for Health Care Aides regarding their role in the event of a "Code Red" call. Such sessions will be scheduled during regular working hours. 33.05 An employee required by the Hospital to attend classes of instruction or meetings outside his regular hours shall be paid in accordance with this Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Hospital shall also pay for the Security Guardsannual license fee.
TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL LEAVE. 27.01 Any employee who is required, as a condition of employment, to attend training sessions or seminars shall be compensated at the appropriate rate of pay for time in attendance at such training or seminar. Travel time to and from such training or seminars shall be considered as time worked. Employees will only receive additional compensation beyond their regular pay for training/travel that occurs outside of the employee’s regularly-scheduled hours. 27.02 Any employee who has enrolled in a law enforcement course who shows proof of such enrollment and has scheduled said courses so as not to interfere with his normal working hours shall not have his working hours changed unless the needs of the Department requires same as determined by the Communications Center Commander. 27.03 Any employee considering enrolling in a law enforcement course may request a change in working hours so as to attend such course. Such request shall be made in writing and shall be approved by the Communications Center Commander and/or the Police Chief. 27.04 The City may at its discretion assign a Dispatcher who is certified as an agency instructor in an approved emergency communications discipline to perform duties as an Emergency Communications Trainer. Dispatchers performing these duties will receive an annual payment of $1,500 in the last pay of the year. Payment shall be prorated by month for Dispatchers assigned for less than a full year. Prior to assigning an employee to be an Emergency Communications Trainer, the City will confer with the Union. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the City retains sole discretion to determine the number of Emergency Communications Trainer(s) and to assign employees to perform that duty.

Notice of these courses shall be posted for a period of two weeks on bulletin boards to afford interested employees an opportunity to apply for such training. The notice shall contain information setting out the type of course, the time, duration and location of the course, and the basic minimum qualifications required for applicants. The senior qualified applicant shall be selected. When the employer requires employees to take a specific course or to attend an educational event that has relevance to and/or will be of benefit to the employee’s work, the employees shall: a) Be reimbursed costs associated with the course or event including registration, travel, accommodations, meals, and course materials. b) Receive time off with pay to attend courses or educational leaves during regular working hours.

Such request shall be made in writing and subject to approval by the Chief and/or the Safety Director. 23.04 In addition to other compensation set forth herein, beginning with the first regular pay day in January of each year, members shall receive an education bonus for having received a college degree from an accredited institution in a course of study deemed by the Director of Public Safety to be police-related. This payment shall be: (a) five hundred dollars ($500.00) for an Associate Degree; (b) one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for a Bachelor’s Degree; or one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500.00) for a Masters, Doctorate, or Law Degree, provided that only one payment shall be made per employee regardless of the number of degrees he may have attained. Payment shall be made in a separate check. Members having such degrees on the date this Agreement is executed shall be deemed eligible for payment, however, no course of study for any future degrees by current employees nor degrees for future employees shall be deemed eligible unless the Safety Director has, in writing, approved the course of study for the specific individual as being police-related. 23.05 The City shall reimburse all bargaining unit employees for costs incurred for books and tuition for all successfully completed courses required in achieving a policing, criminal justice, or law enforcement degree which had prior approval by the Safety Director and the Chief of Police.   • Training and Education SECTION 1 – Law Enforcement Supervisors’ Training

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.

  • TRAINING AND RELATED MATTERS The parties recognise that in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the company a significant commitment to structured training and skill development is required. Accordingly the parties commit themselves to: a) The parties to this Agreement recognise the importance of the apprenticeship system to the construction industry. It is agreed that every employer party to this Agreement who employs five (5) or more tradespersons in any one classification shall undertake to employ at least one (1) apprentice or make arrangements to host an apprentice from an agreed group apprenticeship scheme. Where an employer does not currently have an apprentice as per this provision, reasonable time shall be allowed to enable the employer to comply with this clause. Further, the parties are committed to a strong ratio of apprentices in the industry. Apprenticeship levels on a specific project may be discussed at the Project Pre-Commencement Conference (refer Clause 16). b) Providing employees with the opportunity to acquire additional skills within relevant career path structures through appropriate structured training based on nationally endorsed (i.e. Construction Training Australia endorsed) competency standards and curriculum; c) Actively encouraging employees to seek formal recognition of their skills (i.e. recognition of prior learning); and d) Using training providers accredited and acceptable to the parties. The CFMEU, MBAV and other employer associations are legitimately engaged in providing training to industry and it is hereby agreed that all parties will properly recognise and accept the validity of nationally accredited training as provided by the other parties. e) The parties will consult on the development of training programs which are consistent with the following: • Training provided will be consistent with the company’s business requirements, relevant to the work of the employees, consistent with the skills development of each employee and with applicable national competency standards. • Training may be taken either on or off the job with all reasonable steps being taken to conduct training in normal working hours. • If an approved training activity is undertaken during ordinary working hours, the employee/s concerned shall not suffer any loss of pay. • Approved training activities undertaken outside of ordinary hours will be paid at single time or will, at the employee’s option, be taken as time off in lieu of payment. Provided that the scheduling of time off must be consistent with the needs of the business and be by agreement with the company. • Training costs of courses approved by the company will be met by the company. • The company will not be asked to meet the costs of training undertaken by employees which was not approved by the company. • Leave of absence granted pursuant to this clause shall count as service for all purposes of the award and this agreement. • Accredited members of the union will be allowed up to 5 days per year, without loss of pay, to attend trade union educational courses conducted or approved by the union. (see appendix H) f) The parties to this Agreement recognise the importance of the role that Apprentices/Trainees fulfill within the industry and, more importantly, a role that they will fulfill as trades persons following the conclusion of the indentures. To this end the Victorian Building Industry Consultative Committee will investigate ways of enhancing employment prospects for Apprentice/Trainees. In addition it is agreed that, where appropriate, employers will use their best endeavours to employ Apprentices/Trainees in order to ensure appropriate trade persons levels for the future.

  • Training and Orientation (a) No employee shall be required to work on any job or operate any piece of equipment until he/she has received proper training and instruction. (b) The Employer shall provide sufficient and adequate training and/or orientation to any employee working in a new or unfamiliar work area or position.

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund effective January 1st, 2013 and each year thereafter, two thousand ($2,000.00) for the purpose of providing Paid Education Leave. Said Paid Education Leave will be for the purpose of upgrading the Dependent Contractor’s skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Such monies will be paid into a trust fund established by the National Union, Unifor and sent by the Company to the following address: Unifor Education Leave Program c/o Unifor 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, XX X0X 0X0 The Company further agrees that members of the bargaining unit selected by the Union to attend such courses will be granted a Leave of Absence without pay for twenty (20) days class time, plus travel time where necessary, with said Leave of Absence to be intermittent over a twelve (12) month period from the first day of leave. Dependent Contractors on such leave will continue to accrue seniority and benefits during such leave.

  • Employment Relations Education Leave Employment Relations Education Leave will be allowed in accordance with the Employment Relations Act.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent teacher, long-term occasional teacher or teacher hired into a term position under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, as amended. b) The teacher will provide to the employer such evidence as necessary to prove entitlement under the Employment Standards Act. c) A teacher contemplating taking such leave(s) shall notify the employer of the intended date the leave is to begin and the anticipated date of return to active employment. d) Seniority and experience continue to accrue during such leave(s). e) Where a teacher is on such leave(s), the Employer shall continue to pay its share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. To maintain participation and coverage under the Collective Agreement, the teacher must agree to provide for payment for the teacher’s share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. f) In order to receive pay for such leaves, a teacher must access Employment Insurance and the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) in accordance with g) to j), if allowable by legislation. An employee who is eligible for E.I. is not entitled to benefits under a school board’s sick leave and short term disability plan. g) The Employer shall provide for permanent teachers, long-term occasional teachers and teachers hired into a term position who access such Leaves, a SEB plan to top up their E.I.

  • Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.

  • Industrial Relations Training Leave Union Delegate/Employee Representative shall have access to industrial relations training in accordance with Appendix E hereof.
