Uniform Replacement Allowance. A. When the State requires a uniform to be worn as a condition of employment and does not provide such a uniform, the State shall authorize a uniform replacement allowance based on actual costs substantiated with a receipt for an amount to be determined by the State, but not to exceed $405 per year.
1. Uniform means outer garments, excluding shoes, which are required to be worn exclusively while carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position and which are different from the design or fashion of the general population. This definition includes items that serve to identify the person, agency, function performed, rank, or time in service.
2. In those cases where the State provides the uniform to be worn, the uniform items provided pursuant to the section are State-owned or leased property which will be maintained as the State deems necessary. Employees issued State-provided uniform items shall be responsible for loss of or damage to the uniform items other than that incurred as the result of normal wear or through no fault of the employee.
3. In those cases where the State does not provide the uniform to be worn, employees shall be responsible for the purchase of the required uniform as a condition of employment. After an employee has the equivalent of one (1) full year in a permanent position, which requires a uniform, he/she must submit a request in accordance with existing departmental practice in order to receive a uniform replacement allowance.
4. Employees shall wear their required uniforms only in an official capacity except that employees may wear such uniforms on the grounds of their facility and to and from their work location including associated incidental travel.
5. The Uniform Replacement Allowance shall not be considered compensation for retirement purposes.
Uniform Replacement Allowance. Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF)
a. The anniversary date for the uniform replacement credit is February 1 of each year. All employees will receive their credit on that date based on qualifying pay periods in the uniformed classification and in accordance with existing State laws, rules and regulations. Permanent full-time employees shall receive a yearly uniform replacement credit not to exceed $700 in DPR and $700 in CDF. The uniform replacement credit for permanent part-time employees will be calculated annually based upon the previous year’s time base. The uniform replacement credit for permanent intermittent employees will be calculated annually based upon the number of hours worked in the previous year.
b. Employees newly appointed (new hire to State service, promotion, transfer, or demotion from a non-uniformed DPR or CDF class) to a uniformed classification shall be required to purchase the uniform as a condition of employment, and such purchase shall be through the single source vendor. Such employees will be eligible for a pro-rated uniform replacement credit on February 1 of the following year, and a uniform replacement credit on each subsequent February 1 in accordance with the above.

Uniform Replacement Allowance. AFI 36-801, “Uniforms for Civilian Employees”, contains guidelines for establishing a Uniform Replacement Allowance. A Uniform Replacement Allowance reimburses employees for those uniform items that need replacement because of damage or wear. It must not exceed the maximum authorized under 10 U.S.C. 1593.
A. The current Uniform Replacement Allowance remains in effect, with an annual review conducted by a team of functional experts made up of Union and management representatives. This team will review the current Uniform Replacement Allowance within six (6) months of the effective date of this agreement, with yearly reviews thereafter.
B. The review of the Uniform Replacement Allowance must consider the number and quality of each uniform item that the employee needs to maintain. Allowance is based on the cost of the items that make of the required uniform and the wear out periods for various items.
C. Additionally, the parties agree that in accordance AFI 36-801, the joint Union and management team of functional experts will establish wear out periods for replacing items used to establish the Uniform Replacement Allowance.
D. The Uniform Replacement Allowance will be paid quarterly in accordance with AFI 36-801. APPENDIX B -TABLES TABLE A Uniform. Uniform Replacement Allowance. After the second year of employment, each unit member will have the opportunity to obtain Department approved unifo1m components to replace items which are no longer serviceable. Replacement orders may be initiated by officers through the Department in an amount up to $400 annually, beginning July 1 of each year. Depaiiment mandated changes or additions will initially be provided by the Department. Extenuating circumstances involving individual officers' uniforms, upon written documentation by the officer, will be taken into consideration by the officer's Division Director for any necessary adjustment to the $400 annual allotment. With prior approval from the employee's immediate supervisor, other duty-related items including approved footwear, waders, bug spray, sunblock, rifle plates and protective eyewear may be considered for purchase with the uniform allowance. Responses to requests for an additional uniform allowance will not be grievable. Improper care or loss of uniform items will be dealt with through the performance appraisal or disciplinary process.
Uniform Replacement Allowance. An annual uniform replacement allowance shall be paid to employees of this unit who are employed in the unit at the time of replacement. The purpose of the allowance is to provide for the replacement of uniform articles. The full allowance will be one thousand dollars ($1,000) and will be paid under the following conditions.
1. This allowance will be paid annually during the month of July unless otherwise designated by the Chief of Police and is not to be considered compensation for use in computing retirement allowance. All deductions from the lump-sum payment for uniform allowance and/or reimbursement shall be in accordance with state and federal law.
Uniform Replacement Allowance. CITY agrees to expend for each Firefighter I, Firefighter II and Fire Captain the sum of TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS $2,000.00 for the cost of replacing and maintaining eligible uniform items. This sum shall be paid once annually in a lump sum on the first regular payday after July 1.
