Aims & Objectives. The aim of this tender exercise is to identify and appoint an organisation to conduct a scoping study that will identify and evaluate economic benefits of investment options to expand capabilities of Digital Catapult for specific AI & ML technologies and associated enabling technologies. We are seeking to understand the potential economic impact to the economy that could be realised by accelerating AI & ML adoption by supporting : • Capability and assets in specific AI & ML technologies that help overcome key barriers to adopting AI research by industry. • Capability and assets in specific AI & ML technologies that are more relevant for the industry sectors that are either of higher priority for AI/ML enablement, or are severely lagging in adoption. • Capability and assets to help organisations ensure AI rollouts are successful post deployment. • Capability and assets in creating data resources, converting and ingesting raw data and enabling secure and confidential data sharing by organisations to allow training new models and development of new AI solutions. • Capability and assets that intersects specific digital infrastructure with AI & ML technologies to create a test bed for development of new AI solutions. • Capability and assets to take organisations through parts or whole of the AI adoption journey from little to no digitalisation to adoption of AI for supporting a variety of key business functions. • Capability and assets to help organisations understand the benefits of responsible AI adoption and the risks and costs it averts. • Capability and assets around AI/ML that can support building digital twins and/or can make use of digital twins to support complex decision making. • Capability and assets for building federated analytics services that can help carry out analysis of data in a confidentiality and privacy preserving manner to gain insights and to build federated AI models. • Capability and assets build to shared resources/repositories/libraries of common data, and tools to access, ingest and analyse that data, which can support organisations, including startups and SMEs, to build up their AI products and services.
Aims & Objectives. 2.1 It is often necessary to share data to enable organisations to meet the needs of individuals for their care, protection, support and delivery of services in accordance with government expectations, legislative requirements, and the governance arrangements of individual Partners. The Framework provides guidance for such data sharing and supports practitioners to share data confidently and legally. The appendices provide useful information, tools and diagrams to assist in complying with the terms of the Framework.
2.2 The Framework will also help inform individuals of the reasons why their data may need to be shared and how this data sharing will be managed to ensure they are confident that their personal data is being handled responsibly and securely.
2.3 ICO’s Data Sharing Code of Practice ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇.▇▇▇.▇▇/media/for- organisations/data-sharing-a-code-of-practice-1-0.pdf (the Code of Practice) provides important guidance on data sharing and how to comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (or any successor legislation). The Framework aims to put the principles and recommendations within the Code of Practice into a local context.
Aims & Objectives. The first aspect of this project is to produce a report which summarises the wealth of work which has already been done looking at the future of our towns and cities and identifies current trends as a result of this synthesis. This streamlined report will have the key themes and trends identified. UKRI IUK then expect these trends to be further evaluated within the report, with a more place- specific outlook. This will mean a taxonomy or classification mechanism of towns and cities will be adopted, if there is already a suitable categorisation mechanism available, or created. Thereby, each of these classifications will have its key focal themes/trends specified. This will highlight where the most impact/opportunity can be achieved and give a place-specific outlook. This taxonomy is expected to help urban areas identify where they fit and what their key areas of focus should be. For the themes and trends, the potential innovation opportunities as a result of these are to also be identified. These recommendations are to be split into where clear actions could be taken or whether there is an area which needs further discovery. This shall be tailored to enable Innovate UK to clearly see what options could be taken. The second part involves this categorisation of urban areas and their most relevant key themes/trends to be disseminated in what is seen as the most appropriate way possible. This will allow places to clearly identify where they fit and consequently which areas to focus on and will provide them with a valuable resource to use to help them to interpret this. Overall, this work will help the Urban Systems team to identify where its future strategy may go and where Innovate UK may be able to use its resources to target certain challenges. It will also allow places to identify where they can have the maximum impact in resolving current and future challenges.
