Annual Sick Leave. All full-time employees (i.e. hours per week) shall be entitled to twenty (20) days of sick leave per year. An employee joining the Board staff during the year shall be given current sick leave credits on the basis of days for each months' employment. The sick leave entitlement for part-time employees shall be according to time worked.
Annual Sick Leave. Employees will be credited with their entire annual allotment of sick leave days provided in the local collective bargaining agreements at the beginning of the pay period in which each employee’s Special Note for Part-Time Employees. Part-time employees’ annual sick leave will be credited proportionately, based on scheduled hours. Throughout the year (no more frequently than quarterly) the credited annual sick leave will be adjusted based on actual compensated hours. This will ensure that employees who work, on average, more hours than they are scheduled will receive proper annual sick leave credit.
Annual Sick Leave with pay, shall be granted to a teacher for the purpose of obtaining necessary medical or dental treatment because of accident, sickness, or disability, in accordance with the following schedule:
Annual Sick Leave. Conversion Employees who have completed their probationary period and who have used five (5) days (forty (40) hours) or less of sick leave per calendar year may elect to cash out up to five (5) days (forty (40) hours) which shall be paid in a lump sum during the month of January of the following year. Said election must be made in writing to the Employer by the end of the first full week in January.
Annual Sick Leave. Administrators employed by the Board of Education shall be granted annual sick leave as follows:
Annual Sick Leave. All employees shall be granted leave for personal illness, injury, or medical appointments which cannot be scheduled outside of the work day as set forth in Article XVIII (Employee Hours), with full pay at the rate of fifteen (15) days per year beginning with the first official day of the work year whether or not the employee reports for duty on that day. Sick leave will be pro-rated by quarter based on initial hire date. The employee shall provide, upon request from the District, reasonable verification of illness and/or medical appointments as per the current law.
Annual Sick Leave. Unused sick time may be accumulated to a maximum of eight hundred (800) hours. An employee that accumulates more than eight hundred (800) hours of sick leave as of November 30 each year will be paid for seventy-five percent (75%) of all sick hours in excess of eight hundred (800) however, this payment shall not be MERS eligible wages and therefore not includable in the final average compensation for pension calculations. This is to be paid in the second payday of December.
Annual Sick Leave. Twelve days of sick leave shall be granted for each year of service to the district. Unused sick leave in each term may be allowed to accumulate until a maximum total of 84 days has been reached. After the maximum has been reached, each new term will provide 12 days of sick leave for said employee. If these 12 additional days are used, then additional sick leave taken will be charged to the 84-day reserve. Sick leave shall be defined as leave due to:
Annual Sick Leave. 1. Annual sick leave with full pay shall be allowed all administrators on annual salary at the rate of one and one-half (1 1/2) days for each month of service, not to exceed fifteen (15) days in any one year. Unused sick leave may be accumulated from year to year, but not in excess of the number of work days required.” Professional employees will be allowed to use eight (8) of their fifteen (15) days per year in cases of family illness of a spouse, child, or parent living in the household.
2. If an administrator commenced employment in the New Bedford Public School on or before August 1, 2016 and he/she begins the school year with a maximum accumulation of sick leave and serves the entire school year, he/she shall be allowed addition sick leave accumulation above the maximum accumulation for severance pay purposes only under Paragraph F in accordance with the following formula: 0-5 sick days used – accrue 10 additional 6 sick days used – accrue 8 additional 7 sick days used – accrue 6 additional 8 sick days used – accrue 4 additional 9 sick days used – accrue 2 additional 10 sick days used – accrue 0 additional If the amount of work days increases from the previous year, the maximum of the accrued sick leave for the purpose of severance pay would be equal to the number of required work days. Any administrator who commenced employment in the New Bedford Public Schools on or after August 1, 2016 shall not be eligible for the above severance pay provision.
3. Unused personal days will be added to accumulated sick leave for the following school year if the professional employee does not have maximum accumulation. If an administrator is at maximum accumulation, the unused personal leave will be credited to sick leave for buy-back purposes only.
Annual Sick Leave. Full-time unit members shall be entitled to ten (10) days leave with full pay for each school year for purposes of personal illness or injury. A unit member covered by this Agreement working less than full time shall be entitled to sick leave in the same ratio that their employment bear to full-time employment.
