BASIS OF REPRESENTATION. Section 1. The Union shall have the right to select a Chief Xxxxxxx and an alternate xxxxxxx. The Chief Xxxxxxx will be permitted to leave his work, after obtaining approval of his department head and recording his time, for the purpose of adjusting grievances in accordance with the grievance procedure and for reporting to the grievant a change in status of his grievance. Permission for the Chief Xxxxxxx to leave his work station will not be unreasonably withheld. The Chief Xxxxxxx will report his time to his department head upon returning from a grievance discussion. All other Union business shall be conducted after working hours.

The Representative will report his/her time to his/her department head upon returning from a grievance discussion. The privilege of the Representative to leave his/her work during working hours, without loss of pay, is extended with the understanding that the time will be devoted to the prompt handling of grievances and will not be abused, and that he/she will continue to work at his/her assigned job at all times except when permitted to leave his/her work assignment to handle grievances. All other Union business shall be conducted after working hours. Two (2) members of the Union Committee may participate in the negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement with the City during times mutually agreeable to the parties. The City shall pay the two (2) members of the Union negotiation team for their hours worked during negotiations. In no circumstance will a unit member be paid overtime rates for union business. Any member subpoenaed to testify at an arbitration hearing will be paid at the straight time rate and shall remain at their workstation until such time that they are called to testify.
BASIS OF REPRESENTATION. Section 1. The full-time employees of the White Lake Township Police Department shall have the right to be represented in all negotiations and complaints and adjustments of disputes by the chairman or a Xxxxxxx, each of whom must be a seniority Employee of the Township. These representatives are to be elected or appointed in any manner determined by the Union. The Township must be notified as soon as possible of any change in representation.
