Extra Duty Employment. Any employment of a LPD officer, while not on duty, which is predicated on the actual or potential uses of the police officer's law enforcement powers.
Extra Duty Employment. Employees shall be permitted to perform extra duty employment in accordance with a policy developed by the parties.
Extra Duty Employment. A. Extra duty employment is a Department approved police related work assignment. Extra duty work is voluntary. An extra duty assignment will only be approved if it is related to the assigned employee's usual scope of city duties.
B. Extra duty employment is contracted between the City and the Extra Duty Employer. Extra duty employment and assignments are administered and regulated by Section 3.04.920 of the City Personnel Rules, and Policy 213.00 of the Department. As such, employees are expected to familiarize themselves with all applicable policies, procedures and rules covering an Extra Duty work assignment prior to volunteering for such assignments.
C. Police officers at the rank of Sergeant and below shall be compensated for an Extra Duty assignment at an hourly rate equivalent to their current overtime rate based on the employee's "regular rate of pay''.
D. Police officers, below the rank of Sergeant, assigned in a supervisory capacity during an extra duty assignment requiring four (4) or more officers, or when circumstances require specific supervision, shall be compensated at an hourly rate equivalent to the current overtime rate for entry level Sergeants (Step 1).
E. Employees working an extra duty assignment shall not accept any payment, gratuity, benefit, or other thing of value, made or offered to them, directly or indirectly.
F. Employees are paid for extra duty assignments through the City's regular payroll system. All taxes and appropriate deductions will be made prior to payment. The extra duty wages will not be used in calculating pension deductions. While extra duty is calculated at overtime rates, it is not "overtime" nor shall it be treated as overtime by the City when computing the employee's pay.
Extra Duty Employment. Extra-Duty Employment is special detail work available to bargaining unit members during their off-duty hours when the City contracts with private and public entities to provide police related services or assistance with their business or operations.
A. The opportunity to work extra-duty is solely at the employee’s discretion and is not mandatory. The Department functions as the point of contact with contracting organizations and manages the scheduling of officers. Employees remain bound by the policies, procedures, and values of the City and the Department during extra-duty details.
B. All City contracted extra-duty employment will be paid through the City payroll system. Employees who accept extra-duty will be compensated at a flat hourly rate as agreed between the Guild and the Chief (or designee) from time to time. Extra-duty compensation will be for actual hours worked. Hours worked for the contracting organization are not counted for purposes of overtime compensation, per 29 CFR 553.227. The City will be reimbursed for extra-duty costs by the contracting organization, including reimbursement for vehicles and payroll costs.
C. Employees are required to wear Department uniforms for extra-duty unless otherwise authorized in writing by the Chief or designee. Employees may utilize City equipment while on extra-duty. Employees may utilize City vehicles for extra-duty only when such use is included in the City’s agreement with the contracting organization.
D. Employees are covered for workers’ compensation while on extra-duty. The City shall indemnify and defend any employee against any claim or suit, where such claim or suit arose because such employee exercises his/her authority as a Lakewood Police Officer during extra- duty employment. The City shall pay on behalf of any employee in the bargaining unit any sums which the employee shall be legally obligated to pay as a result of that employee’s reasonable and lawful activities and exercise of authority within the scope of his/her duties and responsibilities as a Lakewood Police Officer.
E. It is understood that except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, the employee will not accrue or receive any major medical leave, combination leave, holiday benefits, or other benefits for hours worked at outside employment.
F. Employees may not work extra-duty jobs while being compensated for a personal or family illness or disability leave.

Extra Duty Employment. The EMPLOYER shall invoice $45.00 and Employees shall be paid $42.00 per hour for Extra Duty Employment.
Extra Duty Employment. All extra duty employment will be in accordance with ACSO directive number 604 (Extra Duty Employment). Extra duty sign-up window will begin at 1900 hours.
(A) Members are limited to a cumulative total of 128 hours of employment per two (2) week pay period (all other qualifiers related to total work hours remain as listed in the directive).
(B) Members shall have full access and be allowed to sign up for extra duty details when the extra duty details are posted.
(C) When members work an extra duty detail, the member will be compen- sated at their overtime rate.
Extra Duty Employment. Any employment for which an individual is hired for the express purpose of protecting the proprietary interests of an employer or providing some other related law enforcement service. It is part-time employment in which the employee’s essential function is to protect life and property, keep the peace, or otherwise maintain order, or, should circumstances warrant, enforce state and/or local laws and ordinances.
Extra Duty Employment. Extra duty employment is defined as voluntary law enforcement employment performed outside of the employee’s regular working hours and performed in situations where the City of Burlington and the Burlington Police Officers’ Association complete a contract to provide police protection. Extra duty assignments shall not be used to perform jobs which are normally and customarily done on a daily routine basis by an on-duty uniformed Burlington police officer. All extra duty employment must be approved by the Chief of Police or his/her designee after consultation with a member of the Executive Board of the Association. Eligibility for extra duty assignments shall be determined by the Union. Non-Union law enforcement personnel shall be eligible for extra duty assignments except that such individuals (including probationary and auxiliary employees) shall not perform extra duty work with less supervision than they would normally have when in the course of regular departmental work assignments. Union personnel shall have first priority for all extra duty assignments for a period up until twenty-four (24) hours prior to the commencement of the extra duty assignment. Persons or businesses requesting an officer(s) for an extra duty assignment shall be referred in all cases to the Burlington Police Officers’ Association (―Union‖) offices. A designee of the Union is responsible for completion of an Agreement between the Union and the requesting party. Said Agreement shall be in a form mutually agreed by the City and Union and shall include an indemnification clause. The contract may include prepayment conditions as deemed appropriate by the Union. The completed contract will be presented to the office of the Chief of Police for approval. Upon approval, the Union designee will properly post the extra duty assignment, and provide the Department’ s office manager with all billing information to insure accurate Department payroll processing. All extra duty assignments shall be processed through the Department’s payroll system. Information provided to the office manager shall include: (a) name, address and telephone number of the person or business to be billed; (b) contact person if billing problems arise; (c) date of the extra duty assignment; (d) hours to be worked; and (e) location of the extra duty assignment.
