Long Service Leave (LSL). Employees are entitled to accrue and access LSL in accordance with the Long Service Leave (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1976. The minimum amount of accrued LSL that an employee may take at any one time is seven calendar days at full pay or 14 calendar days at half pay.

Long Service Leave (LSL). 36.1 If any provisions of this clause are less favourable for Employees than the equivalent provisions in the Long Service Leave Act 1958 (WA) (LSL Act), the provisions in the LSL Act will apply.

Years of Service Employed pre 1/7/2003 Employed post 1/7/2003 15 4 3 20 4 3 45 1 1 Conditions to note concerning Long Service Leave: • If an employee has been granted LSL or Anticipated Retirement Leave under previous conditions, including leave granted by other qualifying employers, then the amount of this leave granted will be deducted from their LSL allocation. • Each entitlement of LSL must be taken before the next entitlement is due, where the leave is not taken within that 5 year period if shall be forfeited. • It is anticipated that LSL will be taken as significant blocks of leave. • Any LSL accrued and not “banked” under previous agreements should be taken before the next entitlement falls due or will be forfeited. • Remuneration during long service leave shall be calculated as per annual leave. • Remuneration will be pro-rated for increases or reductions in work hours during the period in which the leave was earned. • On exiting employees will be paid a lump sum superable payment of the cash value of outstanding LSL and, if relevant, retiring leave. (If the superannuation scheme rules do not permit a superable payment then salary remuneration will be increased for the relevant service so that total remuneration is maintained). • A prorated amount of the next LSL entitlement is payable if an employee has 21 years of service and is exiting Police. • If an employee becomes sick after commencing LSL the period of sickness shall not be counted as LSL taken provided the employee is returning to duty and not relinquishing office; and; is more than 5 days and a medical certificate showing the nature and duration of the illness is produced. • If LSL is cancelled due to operational requirements the period between the date of notice and date an employee resumes duty is not be counted as leave taken.

This means, for example, that an employee will accrue 2.1 months of LSL after 7 years of service; • At the discretion of the CEO, on the recommendation of the Team Leader and Manager, and conditional on the employee completing satisfactory annual appraisals (or there are no performance or other issues), employees may be given access to LSL after a period of five years. If an employee leaves Marymead and is entitled to transfer their LSL to another organisation, Marymead will transfer the entitlement applicable under the Long Service (portable) Act 1976 (ACT) and as amended.

Long Service Leave (LSL). (a) An Employee is eligible for LSL in accordance with the LSL Act.
Long Service Leave (LSL). An Employee who has completed ten (10) years of continuous service with the Building Commission is entitled to three (3) months Long Service Leave (LSL) with pay. For each additional period of five (5) years continuous service after the first ten (10) years of continuous employment, an Employee will be entitled to 1.5 months LSL with pay. An Employee may access this entitlement, on a pro-rata basis, after an initial seven (7) years of continuous service. Once eligible for LSL after seven (7) years, the Employee will have pro-rata access to their entitlement as additional LSL accrues. An Employee may take or reduce their entitlement in a number of ways. These are: • At the standard rate; or • At half the time accrued at double the pay; or • By ‘cashing out’ all or part of accrued LSL in minimum intervals of calendar months or half a month. LSL may only be taken or cashed out in multiples of calendar months (one calendar month equals 30 days) or minimum blocks of half months (15 days). LSL is to be taken at a time which is mutually convenient to the Employee and the Commission with the exception that the Employee’s total accumulated LSL credits must not exceed 4.5 months unless agreed to in writing between the Commissioner and the Employee. New Employees may have prior service with government bodies and/or statutory authorities recognised. Consideration will only be given where the length of service was insufficient to cash out the benefit or take the leave prior to seeking employment with the Commission and where the following circumstances exist:
