Birth Mother A pregnant employee shall be entitled to up to seventeen (17) consecutive weeks of maternity leave and up to thirty-five (35) consecutive weeks of parental leave, all without pay. The parental leave must immediately follow the maternity leave. In the event the birth mother dies or is totally disabled, an employee who is the father of the child shall be entitled to both maternity and parental leave without pay.

of Leave. The leave of absence under Section shall enable the President to assume a full-time leave to carry out official business.
of Leave. Upon making a written request to the Band Manager or his designate, an employee shall be granted leave of absence without pay for pregnancy or adoption of a child. The leave shall be granted on the following basis:
of Leave. (a) Payment shall, at the option of the employee, be made in a lump sum or as a continuation of salary until the scheduled retirement date is reached. Where the employee chooses to take a lump sum payment, the last day worked shall be considered the retirement day and benefits shall cease on that day. Where the employee chooses to take leave as a continuation of salary until the scheduled retirement date, all benefits shall continue until that date. Employees who have worked on a part-time basis during their employment with the Employer shall receive a pro-rated portion of leave based on their actual hours worked as compared to those of a full-time employee.

Special leave may be granted at the discretion of the Employer, for purposed of emergency or extenuating circumstances, directly involving an Employee’s person, home or immediate family; such requests for special leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Where an Employee has insufficient or no credits to govern the granting of special leave within the meaning of Articles and leave up to a maximum of five (5) days may be granted at the discretion of the Employer and the deduction of such advanced leave from any special leave credits subsequently earned.
of Leave. No employee will return to work earlier than eight ( 8 ) weeks after delivery without her approval. Upon her return to work, she will be returned to her former classification and while on maternity leave of absence seniority shall accrue. Notwithstanding anything this Article, an employee on Workers' Compensation shall be considered on leave of absence until is able to return to work, or certified as never being able to resume employment with the Company. An employee on such leave of absence must keep the Company advised of current address and must remain a resident of the Province of Ontario.
of Leave. The OGBL had welcomed in early 2019 the introduction of a 26th legal day off, along- side the addition of an additional public holiday. This measure was a first response of the government to its demand for a 6th week of statutory leave. The OGBL still maintains this demand, which has so far been met at 20%.

Upon written application, a Permanent employee who has had a break in service with the Employer July and returns to work for the Employer within three (3) years from the break in service, be credited with all accumulated unused sick leave she was credited with prior to break in service. The three (3) year period shall not include time spent on the re-employment list.
